How Popular is Army General With the SD2 Player Base?
I rarely hear from anyone who plays the AG version and have yet to try it myself.

I hit 70 last December and live in a senior's apartment block. All the residents here are independent. It's not assisted living.
However, I feel like a kid around them. The problem is that the people I'd like to hang out with see me as someone old enough to be their father.
So for socializing, I spend a lot of time online on various tightly focused sites. I avoid social media. (Is reddit considered social media?)
So I began this campaign a few nights ago and have lost the first part, Sie Kommen, 3 times now. I copied VulcanHDGaming's battlegroup and tried as best as I could to follow his strategy. The results have been 3 losses before reaching phase C.
Oh oh, spaghettio!
The third time I basically abandoned the garrison in the top right corner and focused my efforts around the primary objective.
Is it normal to suddenly have so much difficulty with Atlantikwall after completing the entire first campaign in 7 attempts?
Any tips on doing better will be appreciated.
I really want to avoid online sites.
I'm 65 and single since 2023. Meeting a nice woman I could spend some time with every week is my goal.
I am not looking for a f/t relationship or second marriage, just someone laid back to get together with when we both feel like it. At my age and with my heart condition, a platonic friendship with the right person would also likely work.
My challenge is that I am not an extrovert and usually miss the signs that a woman uses to signal that she wants me to talk to her.
Not being religious, I don't feel comfy using a church to meet women. Doing so would be deceptive.
I moved up from Seattle 12 years ago and spent the entire time operating a small consulting business. However, I rarely met anyone in person through it and most of my clients were male.
On the looks side, everyone thinks I'm ten years younger than my real age. A couple of sites that rate your looks pegged me at 7.2 and 7.8, for all that that's worth. I'm 6'1".
I am also looking for volunteer opportunities as a means to widen my social circle.
I stopped drinking 2019.
(If I do decide down the road to try a dating site which one should I check out?)
It really feels next to impossible to determine if you're being advised to get unnecessary work done and then being over-charged for it.
How do I go about finding a good dentist? BTW, I get my dental plan through Molina so the annual budget I have is pretty limited. Every dollar counts.
Any advice will be appreciated.
Once you land on the target video's page, you can't just click PLAY and have it start. Now you need to first refresh the page and then hit PLAY.
I have followed all the advice found online about dealing with this problem. Nothing has fixed it.
I have asked Brave community support, and they are as clueless as I am.
Has anyone found a fix?
PS This problem only occurs on my desktop not my android phone.
Should you deploy your units before or after hitting Launch Battle?
When I started playing, I'd deploy my units before launch. Then over time I began hitting launch first, letting the game run for 5 or 10 seconds, hitting Pause, and deploying the units. This feels as if I am skipping a redundant step.
Am I?
Is there any way to pull all available divisions into my menu of the units I can pick and choose from for Skirmishes, Scenarios, and Campaigns all at once instead of individually?
I have two of the DLCS and can see all the available divisions if I go Battlegroups/Create/Create-a-Battlegroup/Select-a-Division and then Save.
Because I'm still a noob, I usually choose autofill simply to make the unit appear instantly on my list of options for the game I am in a hurry to start. I am fine with the autofill designs for the time being.
The problem appears to be if I am looking for battlegroups to use in a scenario or skirmish my choices are limited to a seeming very short list of BGs. A man needs more variety.
Or am I missing something? Is the game designed to force you make units available for play individually?
Damn, I hope this is clear.
This is about SD44.
I'm still new to the game and only began experimenting with these settings last night. Until then, I just left every unit's settings on the default Medium.

Do I set my side's difficulty settings to Hard to get the best performance out of them? Or do I set my side to Very Easy to make winning easy and effortless?
Or:
If I set the enemy's settings to Very Easy, am I dumbing them down?
Should I leave everyone at Medium?
I am still losing half my games so wouldn't mind a cheat to use for morale building until I fully understand the game.
The settings are confusing.
Okay, I have learned enough about the mechanics to move my units around. Now I need to learn where to send them and why.
Can you guys recommend YT channels that offer indepth explanations on where to position your various units for maximum effect? I think VulcanHDGaming and Stealth17 have some on this very topic that I will start going through. Is there anyone else?
Just to be clear, the source doesn't have to be on YT. I'll be grateful for written explanations of small unit tactics.
Typo repaired.
I have been slowly learning the Eugen mechanics with SD 44. Last night I fired up SD 2 and tried a small map skirmish.
I assumed all the maps were eastern front based on their names. To my confusion, after picking the Russian side, I found myself playing with a British BG. The unit markers were red, but the units were British. Talk about confusing.
There weren't any Russian BGs in the drop-down menu of BG options.
Do I need to create a Russian BG if I want to play as the Russians with a Russian BG?
Is this the default setting of the game, or did I miss something when I was selecting my side and BG?
Picture a grainy B&W video showing rural ruins in the midwest after Peak Oil had collapsed civilization. I think there were shots of dead oil rigs included, so parts may have been shot in TX and OK. Picture the "dustbowl" of the depression to get a sense of the video imagery.
What really stands out in my memory after 20 or 25 years is the voiceover describing the scenes. It's the gravelly voice of an old man who grew up before the collapse and now has to struggle to survive the current state of the world.
I call it a music video because there is some very fitting music that captures the essence of this nightmare world. However, it's important to understand that the man doing the voiceover is not singing. He is speaking and merely recounting the story of how the world ended up this way.
I have a vague feeling that the video might have been produced by the band playing the eerie background music. However, I doubt the old gent supplying the voiceover was anything more than the absolutely perfect voice artist hired to narrate the story.
The funny thing is that the apocalyptic event that led to the collapse may not have been about Peak Oil at all but a generic civilizational collapse. Either way, it was very popular with Peak Oilers.
I want to hear that old man's voice again after a quarter of a century.
All in all, it was a brilliant product that made you stop and think about fossil fuels.
If I'm not hallucinating, the word begins with the letter "e". I have searched for synonyms of environment and have concluded that synonyms of the "surrounding area" might offer a better bet for finding this word. However, still no luck in finding it.
Here are two examples of how this mystery word has been used.
I use "e_____" as a placeholder for this mystery word.
Milk: Refrigerate immediately.
Other liquid: Safe to keep at e______ temperature.
So the word is connected to one's environment or surroundings. I'm pretty sure it starts with "e".
~
EDIT
SOLVED. The first responder to suggest ambient wins the point.
I was wrong about the word starting with "e".
Thank you to everyone who suggested a word.
I wanted to try version CK: II but can't figure out how to turn it into English. I can't find the settings when everything is in German.
Any suggestions?
Edit
No idea how I missed the language choice part.
I will reinstall it.
Edit
Reinstalled on a different drive and it's still in German.
Looks like I won't be playing CK II.
I have gone through the in-game tutorials and learned the basic mechanics.
However, after 8 attempts at learning how to use mortars, I am a dismal failure.
I move the 2 mortar units into range (hopefully as range is unclear) and then when I press "fire" the mortars do not fire.
Instead, the mortar unit starts moving towards the spot I aimed them at.
I can now use howitzers, tanks, ATGMs, and send in airstrikes, etc. I can deliver infantry to the right location and have the Bradley's unload them.
HOWEVER I CANNOT FIRE MY MORTARS! Every time I try, the mortar unit rushes towards the target area I aimed them at.
It doesn't look as if I need to unload the mortar units before using them, so that's not the problem.
Please help me.
Last year I purchased Airland Battle, Red Dragon, and then Warno all on sale. I recently began going through the Warno internal tutorials.
Once I have mastered the Warno basics, will I be able to play Airland and Red Dragon as well? Or is there a big difference in the mechanics?
Since we are on a roll here, what about the two Steel Divisions which I also have but have never gotten around to playing? Are the mechanics different or similar?
Why haven't I played any of the 5 yet? I have purchased over 50 games since 2024 and it's just easier to fire up a game I do know how to play, when I have an evening free than going through tutorials and manuals.
Total War Saga: THRONES OF BRITANNIA is along the lines of what I am looking for. However, I want a game with more than just fighting. I want something with politics as well as political intrigue. For example, think of Crusader Kings.
I just found out there were about one thousand Greek city-states. This estimate is hard to believe considering the population level back then.
I'd happily settle for a game where the top 6 city-states are playable.
Does anyone know of a game that might match my wishlist?
Or do they keep them?
