Does anyone have a single elderly gerbil who's mate has passed? Maybe we can combine them so they are not lonely in their retirement?

It was just a thought. My daughter had two female gerbils but one of them passed a few months ago. The remaining gerbil is 3 years old- so there's not much time left.

I fear she is lonely. But we can't get another gerbil because here pretty soon, we will be in the same position again. They aren't really supposed to be by themselves.

I figure, there's gotta be someone out there who is in the same position with their gerbil pair. I thought maybe you could let us have your elderly gerbil and we can see if they get along? They would be in a good home and loved by my 12 year old daughter and I.

I'm also open to rehoming our gerbil. But my daughter would need some convincing. She's pretty close to her girl. The gerbil is very sweet and not a biter.

I don't really know what to do here. But i figure two gerbils not being lonely before they pass is better than two gerbils living their last months alone.

Thanks for reading.

I'm not really worried that kids may knock on my door. But I'm extremely worried that my adult neighbors are apparently insane.

After doing a search- this is accurate. We should prepare for the federal government to come after New Mexico. We are suing them for blocking the investigation.

This is a great move and I 100% support it. But there will be retaliation.

Just a little blast from the past. The prices used to be so low! Imagine being able to finance a new car for $25 a week.

Flix Brewhouse prices?

Hey there,

My 12 year old daughter wants to see the new evil dead movie. Now that she's older and more mature, I thought we'd check out flix brewhouse for the first time.

Their ti**et prices are pretty standard. So I figure their menu prices must be out of control. Especially since they are not listed on their website.

How much should I anticipate a movie and dinner for us to cost? Just the standard- 2 drinks, 2 entrees and maybe some popcorn.

Thank you!

Be aware- instead of simply raising menu prices so you can make an informed decision, Mizuni adds an undisclosed 22% charge onto their totals.

If they raised menu prices, people would make different choices at their establishment. Or would choose not to eat there.

So instead, they keep the advertised prices the same and hit you with an unexpected 22% upcharge when you go to pay your bill.

If you dispute it, you are berated by the staff and manager. And I can guarantee the servers, bussers and dish washers are not making a whole lot more than minimum wage even with this shady practice.

Avoid this establishment.

How did we get convinced that preventing theft and protecting the bottom lines of retailers is an emergency that requires a community effort to stop- and that we all must sacrifice for it?

I'm so fucking sick of it.

In my city, there are entire police task forces dedicated to retailers. They have police officers paid by my tax dollars who exclusively exist to be at the beck and call of retailers.

Meanwhile if my car gets broken into or stolen, a cop won't even show up. I can't even talk to a real person. When I call, the operator immediately transfers me to a voicemail that instructs me to record a message with all the info and someone will eventually generate a report for me. Thanks?

And when I go to a retailer after work on my motorcycle I'm told i have to leave the backpack that has my work laptop, cash phone and cards with their staff. What? I'm a 40 year old professional who has never stolen in my life. Your underpaid employees are far more likely to steal from me than I am to steal from the retailer.

While shopping if I need deodorant, I have to push a button to get an employee and wait because its locked up. When an employee finally comes, they unlock the deodorant but refuse to give it to me. Because clearly I'm a theif who can't be trusted. So they say it will be waiting for me at the register.

So I finish my shopping and head to the register. But when I get there, there are no actual registers. Just a bunch of self checkout lanes with one employee manning them because the retailer refuses to pay cashiers. I ask the employee for my deodorant and he gets annoyed with me and I have to wait until he has time to retrieve it.

Then when I finally finish checking myself out, at the door is a security guard. The assumption is that I'm a theif. And because they refused to pay cashiers to ring people up, they know theft will go up. So they demand my receipt so I, a person who has never stolen, can prove to them that I didn't steal.

And if I'm aggravated by now and say I just want to go on my way and refuse, they get on their radio. And one of the police officers my tax dollars pays for comes out of an office and tells me to show my receipt.

I try to explain to the cop that I'm not a thief and shouldn't have to prove I didn't steal. And that there is no membership here so I am not required to show my receipt. I just want to go home.

The cop doesn't care. His whole job is to do what this corporation wants him to. So I'm brought into an office where the cop removes my backpack and checks it. Then he pats me down and retrieves the receipt from my pocket to check.

Eventually, it's proven that I am not a theif and I can finally go home- having wasted 30 extra minutes, exhausted and humiliated.

All of this, to protect the profits of a giant corporation. And if you complain to anyone about it you are called entitled because stealing is bad and should be stopped. I agree with that. But I don't steal. I never have. And unless there is some dire situation and my daughter needs food I can't afford... I never will.

Why do I need to sacrifice my time, money and effort to protect the profits of this corporation? Why are their private bottom lines treated like our public problem?

To stop inflation? No- prices are not dictated by theft. Thats a lie. The truth is these retailers have entire floors of people and AI tools to ensure that their prices are always the absolute most they can be at all times while still being competitive. If we stopped all theft somehow, and they found a way to have no employees- prices wouldn't go down.

They literally can't raise prices more and still be competitive. They are as high as they possibly can be at all times. By design.

I'm just so sick of it. And I'm sick of everyone just being okay with it. Accepting being treated like a thief. Sacrificing your time for this. Being humiliated.

Why do we allow all of this? Why do we act like it's altruistic to help these retailers make more money?

Sometimes I wonder if I'm just a bad person. But I'm so very tired of it.

I know this isn't a customer service place. But is there a way to speak to a district manager.

It's a week long process to get my Adderall filled every single month. I have to make dozens of calls and spend at least 2 hours in the pharmacy in person to get it filled.

Every month they claim my prescription doesn't exist. I have 2 profiles for some reason- and no one will do anything about it. I take 1/4th of what I'm prescribed simply because it's such a pain to get filled and such a fight.

And all there is, is apathy. I'm shoved on over and over again. Hung up on. And I'm not rude. It always gets frustrating- but I acknowledge it's not the employees fault and stay calm. But no one cares. No one wants to help. I'm told it is my doctor's fault. But my doctor has already sent the prescription 4 times and called you.

And the worst part is- I have to fight so hard and put so much effort into getting this medicine filled, that it makes it look like I'm an addict. But I'm a 40 year old fat guy who takes 1/4th of what I'm prescribed. How many fat Adderall addicts do you know?

I'm just ranting im the wrong place becsuse I'm frustrated. And there is nothing other than Walgreens by me.

Is there a way to talk to a district manager or something? Or any tips?

YSK: There is a 99.9% chance Amazon has bots and plants on this subreddit who's entire job is to call striking/organizing stupid and make you believe it is unrealistic.

Edit: Please be aware that within minutes of me posting this, the post received 20 downvotes bringing it to 45% and there were several multi paragraph replies doing exactly what I describe- calling organizing useless and impossible and saying unions don't do anything. This happened immediately.

It's not a coincidence that every post that mentions striking or organizing has tons of comments making fun of the OP or being dismissive of the idea.

I'm not saying some posts are not real- but Amazon is one of the most powerful corporations in the world. They are also at the forefront of AI technology. They also hate employees organizing in any way.

If you think they don't use AI and plants to steer employees away from organizing, you are a fool. Because any push to unionize would have to start at a place like this subreddit- where leaders from several sites could be identified and organized to work in in unison across several sites.

Please keep this in mind at all times. Assume any posts or comments dismissing employees organizing or trying to convince you that it's ineffective or unrealistic are fake. Because there is an extremely hight chance they are.

Amazon doesn't need a lot of employees to be anti union to prevent organizing. They just need you to believe there are a lot of employees who are anti-union or that it's impossible to unionize. And all it takes to give you that perception is AI or a couple plants on these boards who jump in any thread about organizing with negative comments.

We know Amazon is terrified of organizing- this is motivation. We know Amazon has access to AI and unlimited capital to pay real people to monitor this subreddit and post- this is means. We know this is a massive subreddit that reaches tons of employees from every site- this is opportunity.

Do not believe any negative or dismissive comments regarding organizing here. And mods- please be aware of this. You have a moral obligation to. Because any serious push to organize would require a place like this subreddit- and Amazon knows this.

A few years ago I had a minor surgery at the hospital I worked at and they made me wear a cone. Was this medically necessary? Or were they messing with me?

Hi all,

Title says it all. But a couple years ago I had to have a minor surgery to repair an old knee injury. I worked at the hospital doing supplies at the time.

I don't remember the surgery very much becsuse of the anestisia but I know a co-worker gave me a ride home and helped me into my apartment. I remember I had a cone on my head and the nurses made it very clear I had to keep it on. And the co worker who helped me made sure it was secure before she left.

I had a really hard time sleeping and eating in it and didn't get much rest so i wound up taking it off about 36 hours later. I didn't think much of it at the time due to the pain meds and lack of sleep and nothing was said about it when I recovered and returned to work.

But looking back... I don't know why I needed to wear the cone. I don't think chewing the stiches was a concern on accounta me having hands. And I'm not sure where the cone came from because I was responsible for supplies and cones were not part of the par and I haven't seen one since.

Why did I have to wear the cone?

Places that offer makeup tutorials for teens and preteens? Please help a lost dad out.

Hi all,

My daughter is turning 12 and has gotten really into makeup and beauty. I'm completely out of my element and clueless about this stuff.

I wanted to take her to a beauty store and perhaps have someone show her how to put on makeup and explain what she needs and how to use it.

I'm willing to set a budget of about $300 for the tutorial and the makeup recommendations.

Are there any places in town that offer a service like this in this budget range?

Thank you!
