Is Nemesis good with 5 players?

About to host my first nemesis game this weekend. I am concerned about player elimination and having players watch others play the game while their character is dead. Therefore I was limiting to 4 players only so the game is a little shorter to minimize this problem. But in your experience is 5 players okay?

How is the AI and difficulty in the campaigns?

I am considering buying total war wathammer 3. How is the campaign difficulty? Do you ever lose a game and get wiped out completely or enough to quit the game? Is the AI smart enough to do that?

Will there ever be a WWI update?

Seeing State and Revolution got me thinking about how the game doesn't have WWI which is a shame because the first world War is a lot of historical context for this era. I know they want to make the game economic focused but it is absurd that one of the most important historical events happens during the game period and it is totally absent.

Venting about how popular 40k is compared to MESBG

I have not got into MESBG but I really really want to. Only problem is that in my local area it doesn't seem too popular. Big suprise: 40k is the main thing people do in my area. Maybe after that AOS and kill team seems to also do well (I have had some success getting into KT) . I am in a discord for MESBG and there are not as many messages. I do see toutnements around, maybe a few hours away here and there. So good news that tournent exist but I dont want to buy an army just to take it to tournements play a few times then come back home and just sit around till the next tournament. It is so lame that MESBG is not a little bit bigger. I think Games Workshop should put more effort into it. I know the IP is a bit old at this point, they dont own the rights to the universe, and so on. So I guess there is are reasons why it is not as big as 40k but it just looks so much better than 40k and has better gameplay imo.

Nemesis First Game Tips

I recently bought nemesis (lockdown) and want to do a first time play with some friends. However, I am aware Nemeis can be a brutal and not a fun experience for some or all players. Things like high amounts of luck and player elimination can make a bad experience and in most games is a flaw.

Any mitigation tips for at least the first game? If my friends dont like it then it is going to collect dust in my closet. Personally, I have hope it can be a great experience and really want it to work.

The operative rules are way too wordy

I just want to vent as a newbie learning the game. I am reading the data cards for my operatives and it is very annoying and obscure for new people. I have operatives and their special rule is one paragraph long. That is so difficult for me to learn and to explain to other people I play with. If they ask "what is that operatives special ability?" And i have to pull up the card and go through a paragraph of text it is absurd.

Edit: really it isn't just being too wordy also some of the rules should just be simplified

"When this operative is six inches from another operative and no more than three inches from a friendly operative, and it is passed the first turning point, this operative and friendly operative benefit from the super-surge rule, the operative critic saving one rule, as well as the mega-super-death rule, provided the sum total operative's remaining APL + SAVE - half of remaining wounds × 2D3 is more than the current turning point × 2. When this happens spend one APL from the current operative and add one to saving throws, unless the enemy operative won the last initiative, then add one to every other saving throw and re-roll any dice that are divisible by three with no remainder. For the dice that would have reminders, subtract remaining APL from wounds up to three, unless it is the last turning point and the enemy operative is within six inches, then up to four. If you perform this action you may not dash with a second action unless a friendly operative within three inches of this model is also within the control range of another model. Finally, make a house rule that you don't use these stupid rules because they are annoying. "

Are good and good and bad and bad allowed to fight eachother or do you always need to fight good vs bad?

I'm wondering if I went to a tournament or some kind of play event and I had a good team would I be allowed to fight another good team? I'm afraid of this because it seems like Games Workshop is obsessed with the Rohan faction at the moment and I have a feeling I could get a Rohan army and show up to an event and basicaly everyone else has a Rohan army. Would you even be allowed to play Rohan vs Rohan?

Does MESBG have a lot of tactical decision making ?

MESBG looks super awesome and I want to get into it. However, after watching some simple tutorials and battle reports I am afraid it is very melee combat focused meaning it is just a clash between two groups with dice rolls to determine the winner. The terrain seems mostly for decoration as the two armies just meet at one point on the map.

In 40k on the other hand there is a lot of ranged attack and movement around the map. More movement and tactics is much more interesting to me. Am I wrong, can MESBG have a lot of tactical play or is it mostly just one big clash between forces? (Which I guess is thematic for midieval sword battles)

Where do you find tournaments?

Lately I have been looking into trying to find tournaments and it seems a little hard. A few random organizations have 40k tournaments here and there. Since Im new to all this it so far seems hard to track, I am just searching Facebook and Google and seeing what I get. But my real goal is kill team and really I didnt find much at all for tournaments. Are there like some official sites or groups that do tournaments? Im in Europe but would also be able to travel to the UK and US

So you can play at local game stores?

I always hear people say you can play and meet people at local game stores. The two near me both have Facebook pages but I haven't seen that they organize events or anything. Is it like a private negotiation you make with the person working there if you want to play a game? Or should they be organizing things? ( I dont have a single friend that plays any war games so I need to find a community)

Anyone try 2 vs 1 and 2 vs 2?

The idea of using teams is interesting to me. Especially doing cooperative mode and letting one person take over the opponent role while then two others fight against them. How officiall are these game modes? It would be cool if they have been tested and endorsed.

Tolkien Supported Spanish Facism?

Can people provide context about how Tolkien supported the authoritarian Spanish state of Franco both during the Civil war and even after it? He supposedly hated socialism, communism, even democracy, and likes absolute monarchy? He held these views his whole life?

Does Bloodlines make DI:U less interactive?

So DI:U is largely about worms. Everyone should try to manage a player using worms. So therefore it is a singular point to fight over. With Bloodlines is it that everyone can just go their separate directions upgrading their units and getting tech tiles? To me it sounds like it makes the game more like a multi-player solitare game

What has higher player interaction Terraforming Mars or SETI?

I am really curious about SETI. But I refuse to buy games with little to no player interaction. Terraforming Mars had little player interaction, generally in races for a few things. But what about SETI? I know it also has races but I don't know if it is more or less interaction.

Is Old King's Crown like Rock Paper Scissors?

It seems like the game is like you lay a card, then flip it, then surprise! You either win or lose. Is there open information and tactical decisions or is it just everyone flipping suprise cards?

How could you stop a runaway leader in Dune Imperium?

So Dune Imperium is a game that is certainly not multi-player solitare, it has interaction, but I was thinking, how could you direct that interaction at a runaway leader? If you are playing Root, Arcs, etc. the table politics will shift against the leader as everyone tries to pull them down. With Dune Imperium I feel like while there is player interaction it is almost never intentional. People are constantly getting in everyone's way and playing surprise intrigue cards but I don't know if I have ever seen table talk/politics in it.

Since Dune is a universe about politics, I would really like to know how players could directly attack someone, if possible.
