18M from India | Just finished High School (12th) | Aiming for C1 German for B.Tech — Need advice on a 100% free self-study roadmap

Hello everyone,

I am a 20-year-old student from Patna, India. I have just finished my 12th-grade board exams this year, and my ultimate goal is to pursue my Bachelor's (B.Tech) in Germany. As most Bachelor's programs are completely in German, I need to reach at least a solid B2 or C1 level.

Since I am on a tight budget and cannot afford expensive coaching classes here in India, I am completely committing to self-study. I am ready to put in 2 to 3 hours every single day.

After doing some research on this sub, I found out about resources like "Nicos Weg" (DW) and the VHS Lernportal.

I would highly appreciate it if experienced learners or natives could guide me on:

  1. Is relying solely on free resources like DW and VHS enough to crack official Goethe/Telc C1 exams?
  2. Are there any hidden free high-quality libraries, Anki decks, or PDFs that are highly recommended for STEM/Engineering aspirants?
  3. How should I structure my transition from B1 to B2/C1 without a paid teacher?

Thank you so much in advance for your help! Cheers from India.

Offering: English, Hindi Seeking: German

Hey everyone,

I am from India and looking for a serious language exchange partner. I am planning to move to Germany for my B.Tech studies, so I need to get my German to a solid B2/C1 level.

I am starting from absolute zero (A1) and currently practicing via Nicos Weg. I want to focus heavily on active speaking from day one to build real conversation skills.

Just to be fully transparent and clear up any confusion: legally and officially on all my school certificates and passport, I am 18. Biologically, I am 20. I only mention 20 so my partner knows my actual age on calls, but on paper, I am 18.

What I am looking for:

- A native German speaker who wants to practice Hindi or English.

- Or a fellow serious beginner (A1/A2) who wants to practice basic vocabulary and grammar drills together.

To respect each other's time, we can split our sessions 50/50 (half the time speaking German, half the time English or Hindi).

As per subreddit rules, we can connect via Reddit DMs first, and we will not share any personal contact info publicly. Strictly looking for platonic, study-focused partners only.

Please drop a comment or send a DM if you are interested. Danke!

Bro honestly, 12th me lag gayi (73.4% + Physics Compartment). WBJEE ya local private hi aakhri sahara hai kya? Kiska kya scene chal raha hai, batao yaar.

Hey guys,

Siddhe point par aata hoon kyunki dimaag ka dahi ho chuka hai. CBSE ka result aaya aur meri bohot gandi wali lag gayi. Overall sirf 73% bane hain aur upar se Physics me compartment aa gayi hai. Post daalne me bhi sharm aa rahi thi par ab darr lag raha hai toh socha yahan thoda sach bol doon.

75% criteria toh gaya tel lene, toh NIT/IIT ka sapna toh abhi freeze ho chuka hai jab tak agle saal drop leke improvement na doon.

Abhi sabse pehla kaam toh July me Physics ka compartment nikalna hai, par dimaag me chal raha hai ki aage krun kya? WBJEE bhara tha aur kuch private colleges dekh raha hoon jahan 45%-60% par admission mil jata hai. Par scene ye hai ki mera discipline bilkul zero chal raha hai abhi, upar se padhne me procastination alag level par hai.

Yahan koi aur hai jo is tarah ke border line situation me fasa hai?

  1. WBJEE walo: Tum logo ki prep kaisi chal rahi hai? Agar Jadavpur nahi toh kya Heritage/IEM ya Techno ka koi scene hai bahar ke state walo ke liye?
  2. Droppers: Jo log drop lene ki soch rahe hain mere jaise halat me, tum log offline ja rahe ho ya online koi batch (like eSaral, PW, Unacademy) le rahe ho? Online me discipline kaise banaoge?
  3. Seniors: Agar koi aisa hai jiske 12th me kam marks the ya compartment thi, aur aaj kisi theek-thaak B.Tech college me ho, toh thoda guide kardo yaar. Kya sach me drop year me boards sudhar ke JEE nikalna possible hai ya is saal jo private mile le loon?

Bohot badi duvidha me hoon. Please thoda matured response dena, mazaak mat udana bhaiyo, pehle hi bohot tension me hoon.

Tum log abhi kya kar rahe ho, comments me batao.

Is it just me, or is the Grooming Culture in Patna’s coaching hubs (Boring Road/SK Puri/eco park) getting out of hand?

Guys, kaafi dino se ek cheez notice kar raha hoon Patna mein jo sach mein kaafi disturbing hai. Boring Road, SK Puri, aur khas karke Eco Park jaise areas mein ye trend bahut common ho gaya hai—grown-up men (around 24-27 years old) dating school-going minor girls (15-17 years old).

Main yahan moral policing nahi kar raha hoon, par as a society humein ye samajhna hoga ki ye normal nahi hai.

The Reality Check:

  1. Age & Maturity Gap: Ek 26 saal ke working/college guy aur ek 10th-12th class ki ladki ke maturity level mein zameen-aasman ka fark hota hai. Is age mein bacche naadaan hote hain, unhe lagta hai ye cool hai ya "true love" hai, par asal mein ye seedha-seedha Manipulation aur Grooming hai.
  2. Legal Risk: India mein POCSO Act bahut strict hai. Consent ho ya na ho, minor ke saath aisa involvement ek non-bailable crime hai. Kya in ladkon ko apne career ya jail jaane ka darr nahi hai?
  3. The Culture: SK Puri aur Boring Road coaching hubs hain. Yahan bacche door-door se sapne lekar aate hain, par guidance ki kami aur emotional vulnerability ki wajah se aise predators ka shikaar ban jate hain.

Mujhe dukh is baat ka hai ki hum sab ye dekhte hain, par unka personal matter hai keh kar nikal jate hain. Jab tak hum as a community is predatory behavior ko "Creepy" nahi bolenge aur sirf ladkiyon ko blame karenge, tab tak ye badlega nahi.

In mardon ko sharam aani chahiye jo apni umr ki women ko date karne ke bajaye school kids ko target karte hain just because unhe manipulate karna aasaan hai.

What do you guys think? Kya humein coaching areas aur public parks mein is cheez ko lekar zyada awareness nahi failani chahiye?

How can a younger man [21M] cultivate emotional maturity and respect in mixed-gender spaces without falling into the "pretentious" trap?

Hi everyone,

I’m 21, and like many guys my age who are focused on self-improvement, I’ve often felt a disconnect with my peers. I used to think that seeking out friendships with older, more experienced women was the "mature" thing to do because I valued their perspective and grounded nature.

However, a recent reality check made me realize something important: By constantly announcing that my "intentions are purely platonic" or acting like I'm "too mature for my age," I was actually being quite immature. I realized that maturity isn't a badge you wear or a label you claim—it’s reflected in how you occupy a space and how you treat people as humans, not as sources of mentorship or specific genders.

I want to unlearn this "pretentious" approach.

My question to the women here is: What are the subtle signs of genuine emotional maturity you’ve noticed in younger men that made you feel respected and comfortable? Also, how can I contribute meaningfully to diverse communities without the need to "explain" my presence or my motives?

I’m here to listen and learn from your experiences.

Time: May 1, 2026, at approximately 12:15 AM IST Location: Punaichak area, Patna, Bihar, India

Sighting Description: While observing the night sky, I witnessed an object moving with characteristics that defy standard aerodynamic principles. As someone with a background in Physics, I was particularly interested in its displacement and velocity.

  • Flight Pattern: The object demonstrated "instantaneous acceleration," moving from a stationary position to high velocity without any visible inertia.
  • Appearance: A subtle, steady glow with no strobe lights (standard for aircraft) or audible engine noise.
  • Duration: Observed for about 45 seconds before it performed a sharp 90-degree turn and vanished.

Technical Context: From a conceptual standpoint, the lack of a sonic boom at those speeds suggests a propulsion system that might be manipulating the surrounding medium rather than pushing against it. I am looking for any similar reports in the Bihar region or any logical explanations that fit these flight dynamics.

Hi everyone, main kafi samay se unconventional family structures aur human psychology ke baare mein padh raha hoon. I’m curious to know how people navigate situations that society considers 'taboo,' especially regarding physical/emotional intimacy within the family unit.

Agar aap kisi aisi unique situation mein hain aur apni story ya perspective share karna chahte hain (completely anonymous and non-judgmental), toh please reach out. I’m looking for a mature and honest conversation to understand the psychological side of it. My DMs are open.

I’m writing this because I don’t want anyone else to fall for it. Met a well-dressed person today who looked like a professional, claimed to be a student who lost his wallet and needed 'just ₹500' for a bus to his hometown. The way he spoke was so convincing and 'matured' that anyone would help. Later found out from a shopkeeper that this is a daily routine. It’s shocking to see educated-looking youth resorting to this. Patna is changing, and not always in a good way. Stay vigilant guys

Hey everyone, hope you're all doing well. Now that exams are over many days , the anxiety is starting to kick in. Based on the past few years' patterns and the current evaluation status, what are your guesses for the result date? I’ve seen some news reports suggesting [2nd and 3rd week of may ], but wanted to hear from you guys. Also, does anyone have info on how lenient the checking was this year?

I've been reviewing the Second Law of Thermodynamics for my entrance exams (JEE Advanced), specifically the concept of Entropy ($S = k \ln \Omega$) always increasing in an isolated system.

While the mathematical framework for closed systems is clear, I’m interested in the more nuanced discussion regarding "Negative Entropy" (Negentropy) in biological or complex systems.

My Questions:

  1. How do we precisely define the energy "cost" required to maintain a low-entropy state in a localized open system without violating the universal trend toward $dS \ge 0$?
  2. Are there any recent papers that bridge the gap between statistical mechanics and the structural "order" observed in biological life, beyond Schrödinger's early propositions?

I am looking for a rigorous explanation or citations to peer-reviewed literature rather than philosophical interpretations.
