Definitely not headed for scrap.
I’m mainly just curious, got it for melt and it looks pretty.
I can see the die clash. But there’s hairlines on Liberty’s face all in one direction and there’s also hairlines in the reverse center fields and it’s very shiny but also toned and tarnished? I’m just wondering if this coin has an artificial job on it or what? Once again, just curious; I think it looks great either way.
I also wanted to ask, is it just the field that’s tooled or do you see some tooling in the devices? I can’t see any
This was the first US coin that really captured my imagination. There’s been plenty of others since then. This one I always felt was unique. It looked unrefined, and beautiful at the same time. Very befitting of a coin so early in US history.
The radio works, but no motor sound when you hit play. Probably a seized motor? Either way, exciting find. I’ll probably try my hand at repairing it. Any advice is welcome.
Got it for $300. All dates are fully legible. What do yall think?
I was wondering if I could get advice about what to avoid, how much to spend, what to look for and possibly where to buy. As I’ve expanded my collection of Mexican silver, I’ve ended up really wanting this coin; but I want to avoid overspending or getting a problem coin.
They got left behind at an estate sale because the people that bought the rest of the set didn’t want to deal with them. I can’t bring myself to scrap them, because they are gorgeous. eBay is packed with them and I don’t want to deal with the hassle of it and it’s not enough to sell to a replacement site. How do I get the most out of these?
