He crash landed then took a nap on me. What beetle is he?

Location is Mamaia, Constanta Romania. Saw him fly around, then crash landed near busy street. Was worried someone would step on him so picked up, he then had a nap. Had to eat my dinner one handed but managed. Also as I walked, he woke up so I held him up and he flew away. I’ve seen these beetles fly here before but never thought I’d be bug sitting one while he napped. Servers at the restaurant were asking about him thinking he was my pet but explained what happened. I think he may be a june beetle, unsure which kind.

Will miss him , I wasn’t sure of exact age but I went to check on him before my holiday and found him dead . Here is a pic of him when he was alive.. shall bury him when I get back from my holiday. Didn’t think I’d cry over a small critter but he was a constant, now gone…
