I just need to share with someone - my heart function is now 50% compared to the 20% it was two years ago

I've felt better the last few months but I was also recovering from a hernia surgery so hadn't been as active

Today I saw my doctor and he said it was 50% and the normal rate being 55%

I'm happy beyond belief

[23/M] Looking for some spooky people

Hey,

As the title says, I'm looking for a penpal who has a taste for the odd, the spooky and the macabre.

I'm from London and this uncharatistic warm, bright weather has left me craving a gothic touch. I love both gothic films and books but I'd also love to find someone to talk about deeper or macabre topics. Tell me your experience with a ghost or a local folk tale

I really enjoy film, and whilst I watch a massive range of them I am mostly into horror, I love Eggers, Lynch, Aster and anything gothic. The 1978 Beauty and the Beast is one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen.

I love collecting oddities and trinkets, my favourite thing in my collection is a mumified crows heart.

I find folklore fascinating and I'm currently writing a collection of folk horror short stories. I hope to one day get published but for now my studies are taking up most of my time.

Other stuff I do includes, photography, drawing (I'm terrible but it's fun) and spend time in nature, and listening to music which is either gothic, folk or jazz,

I'm also learning how to make my own clothes, I'm not particularly gothic in that sense but I enjoy dressing the best I can.

Anyway, if you are odd enough to have read this far and think it would be fun to talk some more, drop me a message or leave me a comment and I'd love to get to know you.

Best,

P

Are there any recent thinkers who propose some form of substance dualism when it comes to the mind?

In a recent module we studied philosophy of the mind. We began with cartesian substance dualism and then behaviourism, type identity theory and so on. Many argued that there's either one physical solution or leaned heavily into neuroscience.

Are there any current or somewhat recent philosophers who see the mind as something which exists of a different substance or on a different plane of existence even?

What film haunted you without necessarily scaring you during the film?

So far I can only think of Threads, Deerhunter and a few other war films. (And white bear from black mirror)

I'm looking for more horror or psychological horror than war films.

They don't have to be completely tame during, I'm just looking for a haunting, not a fright

Net Transfer Spends since 23/24 PL season

But it’s ok guys, fans of the Big Six assure us it’s a level playing field.

Nope. It’s an almost vertical playing field, with a ten foot thick ceiling made of reinforced concrete at the top of it that you’re only allowed to try and get through by scraping at it with your fingernails.

[23/M] living slower and seeing the beauty of life

You'll have to excuse this slightly wordy post but I'm struggling to convey the feeling succinctly.

After a pretty rough year things are looking up, everything feels brighter, like the golden light that comes with a dawn.

I'm feeling good again and I want to start making more connections and add a bit of slow paced levity to my life.

I've always loved getting to know people, it always feels special the way they unravel. I've not had as much of a chance recently to enjoy it as much. Having that connection with another person, learning about them, listening to their dreams and fears feels like such a privilege.

I've always tried to see the beauty in things, I've taken life slowly and enjoyed the little things along the way. Recently, though, I've had a whole new appreciation for how beautiful life can be, even minute things which are easily missed.

If anybody would like to share their time and get to know each other, it would be great.

I've realised there's little about me here but a very quick overview would be, I'm a politics and philosophy student from London. I enjoy, reading, writing and films, particularly older ones. I love music and I'm teaching myself to sew, I also enjoy photography and writing horror.

If you'd like to get to know eachother drop me a message!

Best,

P

Where can I find some looser cut collared shirts

Nearly all my shirts fit fairly close, I'm also fairly thin so don't want to be swamped.

I understand the cuts have changed over time and they border on a tighter fit and aren't always able to be tucked as well.

Do you guys have any recommendations on a cut or brand of shirt?

[23/M] looking for someone who loves old films, and wants to live a little slower

It's not so much the old films themselves, although I do love them, it's what they sometimes indicate in a person.

I've found a lot of life recently, very overwhelming. Constantly being reachable by message, algorithms dictating everything I see, my attention span being eroded by it all. I decided to get rid of nearly everything, bar the occasional Reddit browse, and consume everything more slowly and more carefully.

I adore old films, slower, black and white films, romances, noir, technicolour musicals and crime thrillers are my idea of a good evening at home.

I also enjoy lots of other films, particularly David lynch and yorgos lanthimos, but I'm curious if anyone else out there is longing to put the breaks on how fast their life is moving.

I also enjoy reading and writing, mostly horror with the occasional exception. I love photography and cooking, and I'm in the process of learning how to make my own clothes. I'm quite into fashion, I'm not sure how I'd exactly describe my style. I'm also getting quite the interest in the occult and esoteric things.

I really try to take notice of the little things, I'm often day dreaming or noticing something small, particularly how light falls across people's eyes.

I'm fairly into philosophy too and I'd love to find out what theories you have.

I love being outdoors and including a pressed flower or two in my letters, along with a few photos I've taken.

If I haven't bored you by now, I'd love to hear from you.

Penpals anyone?

I already have 3 but I would be interested in having a couple more as I've got a bit of time on my hands over the summer.

This felt like a sub which probably has a bit of crossover

I'm 23M from London, I'm into photography, art, philosophy, film (especially old films and david lynch), music and I really like art but know very little. I'm also into fashion, I'm learning how to sew to eventually make my own clothes. (I may have posted some outfits here before, I can't quite remember which sub)

I'm also trying to learn French.

If you'd be interested dm me on here and we can get to know each other

Looking forward to hearing from you

After a previous post I tried a new focaccia recipe and there's an improvement but I'd like to split the difference between the two. Any recipe recommendations?

I first made focaccia with 150g of olive oil, mixed with the flour (second picture) with a recipe which I was given years ago.

It was dense but tasted really good.

After a post here, I was recommended a different recipe which rested the dough and used no oil in the dough.

The texture was much better but the flavour wasn't quite there

Do you guys have any recommendations on recipes which contain oil but still have a lighter texture.

Oil is quite expensive now so I'd rather have one which is tried and tested instead of choosing a random one online.

Thank you!
