correct password is not recognised?

Hello kind folks.

I have three Apple devices, (iMac M4, iPhone 13 Pro, MacBook Air M4) all signed into the same account. I only have one account, all three of them are on the same account.I

went to upgrade my iOS to the next sequoia (will not upgrade to tahoe,, but there are security patches for sequoia. I am currently on 15.7.1.

it asks for my password. I put it in correctly. Password is refused. I double check in my account, in the sign in and I can see that I am putting in the correct email address, and the correct password. It is still refused.

So I go onto icloud.com, I sign in, it lets me sign in with that password. I tried to change the password at icloud.com. It says enter your password, I enter the password. It says it's incorrect.

So I try to change the password on my phone, hoping I can use Face ID. It demands my password, which I put in, again correctly. It is refused. I go through the steps to try to change the password through the iPhone, under the forget password.

A pop-up comes up, saying security delay required to change password. A security delay is required because stolen device protection is turned on and this device is not in a familiar location. The security delay will last for one hour. You will still be able to use your iPhone during this delay. Turning off or restarting your iPhone will restart the delay. The location of this iPhone could not be visible at icloud.com until the delay has ended.

So I'm at home. I'm disabled, I am at home 95% of the time for the exception of when I go to hospital appointments. I don't understand how this can be a not recognise location? Because I am always at this location.

I am afraid to try to force any of these, because they're all on the same account. I am concerned that if one gets bricked they will all get bricked. That they will all be unusable. I really don't fancy being home with no computer and no phone, and no way to resolve it. With the nearest Apple Store over an hour train away.

TL;DR : I do not know what to do from here. The devices are all still signed on, they are still working with each other. When I sign on if it goes to sleep on screensaver, the password still works. My fingerprint still works to turn on the computer. My Face ID still works to turn on my phone.

I cannot figure out how to resolve this. I need to sign on, but I'm already signed on. Because I have the correct password. Which is recognised every time I need to log on. Despite being signed on, with the correct password,I need to sign on again to change the password, but it says I have the wrong password. It will not let me reset it from my iMac, my iPhone, or my Mac air.

I really don't know what to do. I'm afraid to use the phone with the delay, because if something goes wrong, I can't really afford a bricked phone.

Does anyone have any suggestions on what to do here? I know for a fact the password is correct. I know for a fact I'm putting in the correct password. I can see the password in my keychain, and have verified that it is absolutely correct. I don't know what I'm missing, I don't know what's wrong, and I don't know how to resolve it. I would be very grateful with recommendations on how to get all of this sorted, just to get whatever is going on resolved.

Thank you all for your time! I do appreciate it. Have a great day!

Ginger is slightly bluish/grey?

Ginger is slightly bluish-grey, but it looks fine, it's firm, I bought it maybe a week ago?

Not as grey/blue as it looks like against the white, it makes it look worse and the blue cutting board makes it look less. So in between these photos.
thanks!

ETA- thanks for answering so quickly! I appreciate it. Oxidised but safe to eat for anyone else wondering. Cheers!

using RL properly? (how often, etc)

Hello all, I hope everyone is well.

I have a Thermo Lab Aura Pro, red light lamp, 300 watt. 660-850.

I wanted to use this for several reasons.

  • I have chronic fatigue and pain, and I've read that this can help with some of that?
  • I recently had a surgery (February) and wanted to get it for scar treatment after top surgery.
  • I know that some people have used it for anti-aging/age appearance prevention

This did not come with instructions. For my scar therapy, I was using this about three times a week for 10 to 15 minutes on each side of the scar (side, front, side). I did this for about 8 to 10 weeks., I tried every day. And I also tried every other day, and every two days. Because I just have no idea how to use this. They gave distance for use, but not time.

(I have EDS and fibro (and a few other things), and everything is always in pain. But in particular, my left hip my neck and back are very bad. I am on a morphine patch and have had no relief beyond this. And the morphine patches stop working because people get used to morphine patches.)

During this whole time, I did not notice any difference in terms of any of this – the chronic pain and fatigue, the surgery scars, or any apparent change in appearance.During this whole time, I did not notice any difference in terms of any of this – the chronic pain and fatigue, the surgery scars, or any apparent change in appearance.

Around this time, I noticed that my utility bill skyrocket. Apparently this is a very expensive device to run. I sent videos and photos of my scars to my surgeon, asking whether I'm not he was seeing any difference in how other peoples scar healing was going compared to what mine was doing. He said he saw absolutely no difference. So I have actually stopped using the device for a couple of weeks. And I've still not noticed any visual difference with the scars in not using it.

I'm trying to decide whether or not to just give up on this thing entirely, and possibly donate the device or what. If it works, I don't mind the very much increased utilities bill. But if it is just not working at all, I don't really fancy paying so much more for my utilities.

This didn't come with instructions, I don't know if I was using it incorrectly.

Before I just donate this device and give up on red light therapy completely, can anyone please advise on the following:

  • Is this device even worth trying to use for any of the above issues? Is this just a waste of money, is it even just worth it? Should I keep it? Or donate it?
  • If you believe that this actually can be worth the much higher utilities costs, out of these issues (chronic pain and fatigue, scar treatment, anti-aging/age prevention) what is this device? Most likely able to actually treat?
  • If you believe this device might be worth still continuing to use, can someone please provide me with suggestions on how often to use this device, and for how long. Every day for 20 minutes? Every other day for 12 minutes? I don't know.
  • Timing suggestions on how often and for how long to use this device for chronic pain and fatigue
  • Timing and suggestions for scar treatment?
  • Timing and suggestions for anti-aging/age prevention?
  • How long it should take before I start seeing improvements? Three months seems like enough of a trial to see improvements, and I have not seen any improvement in any of these areas. So a realistic benchmark of 'if I am not seeing improvements by time, this probably isn't gonna work for me' would be quite helpful.

The much increased utility bill is a frustration. If this device works? If it does everything that I've been promised it would do when I got it, I can handle the increased utility bill. It will be well worth it to me to pay a little bit more utilities if it means not paying as much in pain treatments. So that's something I'm going to do if it works.

I would welcome suggestions and ideas of how to better use this. If I can't find a way to use this, I'm just going to donate it because for me this is not working. I'm hoping it's user error, and somebody can give me an idea of how to make the best out of this.

Note:I cannot afford to buy any different RLT devices. I am on disability, I can't afford it, and if the device I have has made a difference, I can't justify spending more money if there's no progress for what I do have. But, recommendations on how to make the most out of the device I do have would be welcomed.

Thank you very much for your time and help. I would genuinely appreciate any help on how to make the best out of this current device.

Cheers!

UK alternatives for Ecover?

Hi, folks, I have been using this Ecover powder nonbio in the UK. I have pretty bad allergies to a lot of things and this is the one I've been using only because I don't seem to react it.

A kind person here suggested I supplement it with citric acid because it was leaving a film behind.

But this is leaving a yellow staining on my white items, and I really hate that. I had a brand new electric blanket that was white, and it's been stained with the yellow. Sorry the photos aren't very good-- I have these horrible yellow bulbs in my flat so everything just looks yellow anyway. But there's yellow staining on what was a perfectly white sheet.

I didn't put a lot of either product in with this electric blanket, and I've noticed it on other whites, too, even when I don't use the citric acid.

Can anyone recommend, first and foremost, how to get rid of the yellow staining? I did an extra rinse but it didn't really do much.

Second, I still don't love this detergent, but the citric acid has improved it. Is anyone aware of a better cruelty free detergent that is safe for people with allergies and available in the UK? One safe for allergens but that actually cleans clothes without having to supplement it with other things?

Thank you! I appreciate any advice you can give, I'm not knowledgeable about this topic at all so if you want any clarification, do let me know. Cheers!

Lemon Sencha (UK/IRE/EU) recommendations?

My local tea house had the perfect lemon sencha, but they've informed me their supplier have stopped making the lemon sencha.

I'm quite sad about this, and absolutely loved it. Any recommendations on a lovely Lemon Sencha available in the UK/IRE/EU that would be grand.

Cheers in advance!

recommendations for packing underwear (smaller waist) and packers in UK

Hello folks!

I'm wondering if anyone has any recommendations for packing underwear and what your favourite places for packers are?

I'm only 150cm, so brands that are on the smaller side would be appreciated.

I'll probably just get a soft packer roll for most use, at some point i'll be looking more seriously at STP 3 in 1s, so happy to take advice for any of that if you have it.

Just happy to hear what is working for you, what you like, why you like it. I'm pretty open to ideas and suggestions.

Thank you!

have a good weekend.

Amazon just did me the biggest favour-- pushed me to the point of cancelling Prime. Thank you amazon!!

Amazon tripled (initially thought it was just duplicated, discovered toward the end that it was actually tripled!) an order I made (£20 each) last night for a "next day delivery."

The item didn't come today and is now saying expected June 15 but could be longer.

The agents, I'm not even convinced were people. I'm not even kidding, I'm convinced they were bots.

One of them claimed that helping me deal with the extra order being tripled and over-charged and not arriving even close to on time was a threat to their "job safety." which seriously, what??

Told me to wait until 23 June before I could claim it back.

I had to ask them about 12 times about the cancellation policy and whether I would get partial refund back for cancelling now. They repeatedly side-stepped and didn't answer the question, and just kept repeating 'is there anything else I can do for you.'

IF they were real humans on the other end, they were asleep and just clicking phrase buttons because there was NO engagement at all. They made what should have been a 2 minute conversation into a 30 minute back and forth ending in cancellation.

I tried to take more screenshots but they had exited the conversation and it deleted the entire thing.

I'm actually so grateful they pushed me to the edge and made me cancel because I'm so beyond fed up. But want to know something hilarious? They cancelled Prime for me, as I requested (after having to repeat it multiple times) and then when I went back into my account post cancellation? Several of the items I have on subscribe and save? Now at least £1.50 cheaper. One item dropped almost £4. And they all had free delivery anyway.

Thanks, amazon! so glad I cancelled.

left out fried mushrooms, carrots, onions and celery for about 7 hours

Hello folks, I was starting to cook a vegetarian stew, simmered mushrooms, carrots, celery and onions in butter. Turned off the heat cos I needed to do a quick thing. Covered it.

ADHD, got distracted, just remembered it was there.

Is it safe to put in the fridge and re-heat tomorrow to finish making the stew? I'm too tired to finish it now.

thanks, sorry if this is a dumb question, i've never left food out this long.

cheers!

possible scam? A bloke came to the door claiming youfibre is buying out BT contracts

Hi all,

I'm with BT (I hate them). Internet has been really horrible the last 6+ months. I already have been having problems with BT for months-- dropped signals, internet going out for ten minutes or an hour but they say everything is fine. Price hikes when they promised none, etc).

Fellow came to the door today saying that BT is ripping out all the copper wiring to go full fibre, and many will experience a loss of internet, etc. He says this is why the internet has been so bad, but youfibre is buying out all the BT contracts because they already have fibre connection and will price-match whatever BT is doing.

He had a business card but no official literature.

I'm deaf, so I was lipreading him, I only really get ever second or third word lipreading when people are talking, and he spoke quickly. I told him I'd need to look into it because I need to read things as I am deaf, he said cool text or call him when I'm ready if I have questions.

Was this a scam, or was this legit? Anyone know what's going on here? My neighbour is also having problems with the internet, so I don't know what's happening. Advice is appreciated!

thank you

Subtitles look strange when compressing files?

Hi folks. I have MKV files I'm trying to shrink. The original files have the subs looking perfect.

Now the subs are bright green, no matter what subtitle track I select from the menu on the VLC bar. Sometimes they run off the screen like this:

https://preview.redd.it/ww8pe2vqxo3h1.png?width=2560&format=png&auto=webp&s=cebad8097249daad4a6da05db1a329ed185eff10

I made no changes in Handbrake that I can think of that would cause this change. The DVDs look exactly like the original file image. Only wanted to shrink them cos the original files are 1.50+ GB and it's taking up a lot of space.

Any suggestions would be welcome. I am deaf and NEED subs. This suddenly started doing this today, I've never seen this in years of using Handbrake.

This is doing it for multiple files, and I don't know what's gone wrong.

I purchased an item that was not what it said it was, and did not work the way it said in the advert. Silicon medical tape, so you cannot return it. Okay, that I understand, it's medical tape, sure. But they should still refund it because it is not what they said it was.

Just wanted to chat with amazon to see if they would refund it because it is pre-cut when it says explicitly in the advert that it is NOT pre-cut. Or at least offer a partial refund for the advert being inaccurate.

But you can no longer get access through to chat to a person-- it just keeps sending me in circles to say that it is not eligible for refund. When I click to talk to customer service, I am refused, it says that it's 'under review.' I can't even leave a message to the customer service agents to explain the problem.

There's literally no way to access talking to customer service -- I even tried the 'something else' tab, but it sent me in loops and still locked me out and would not let me access an agent.

I try really hard not to buy from amazon in general, but I am disabled and live in a small village, and can't always get what I need in town or get to town to get what I need. Sometimes I have no choice. In this case, my local chemist did not have silicone medical tape at all.

I don't know what amazon is up to over the last year, and why they're working so hard to make me stop using them, but it's working.

It's working very, very well.
