I think recent update made BL4 a fantastic game! That being said - BL4 clearly shows what I don't want to see in BL5

Just to state the obvious.

This post is clearly subjective and just my own personal thoughts.

BL4 is great game and recent update that finally added proper, fun endgame loop AND waaaaay better alt leveling option than goddamn vile bounties, made the game a proper addition to Borderlands family of games.

But as we're one big expansion away from the end of roadmap - I finally got thinking about what I personally don't like in BL4.

Thankfully the list is not long as IMO the game is super fun and easly my 3rd favorite BL/WL game.

Anyway to the point. Things I don't want to see in BL5:

1 - Open world.

It was a cool experiment, the idea of freedom is here but - just like soooo many open world games - it's just not that much fun tbh.
I MUCH more prefer "wide linear" design of BL3 where each planet had massive map to explore but the overall game design was linear. IMO BL3 hit the sweetspot combining exploration with better pacing.

Not to mention, open world kinda kills the pacing AND biome diversity.

2 - Different licensed parts on guns.

Just like with open world. I get the idea behind it. On paper - awesome. The idea was to create more diverse playstyles. In reality tho - You're actually griding even more to get THE roll and combination that's sooooo much more powerfull then the others. So smth that was supposed to open up gameplay, actually made it worse by having to grind more for specific combinations.

3 - Almost entire endgame relies on timers.

Like I said. Recent endgame updates were great! That being said - Everything is about timers now.
Game is rewarding you from using THE most OP, meta build that skips entire sections of gameplay and punishes you from experimenting with builds or using off-meta weapons.

I would totally get if clearing endgame content under 12min. gave you achivement or cosmetic as a reward but being FORCED to farm in specitif timeframe goes against a lot of looter shooter principles.

4 - And finally: Class balance.

We're almost a year into BL4 lifecycle and game still has entire trees that are soooo underpowered that almost noone uses them.
And adding to the point before - about endgame forcing you to use meta builds - there's literally no reason to use certain trees/skills. It's crazy how much BL4 relies on meta builds. IMO - way more than any previous BL games.

Aaaand that's about it.

I love the game but it's not my favorite. I think it's ok tho - There were a lot of new ideas and risks taken with this one and I'm glad for it. I also hope Gearbox is NOT gonna go towards "live service" route and BL 5 will still be a solo/coop game.

Sorry for long post.

Please, make low-ready optional!

I saw recently short video of upcoming looting animations and low-ready stance.

I get it - it's more realistic. But PLEASE make it optional.

The high ready stance looks way cooler and most importantly - When you're sweeping corners or if you're jumped by the enemy - the last thing you want is to be stuck with your pants down in low-ready stance because your character randomly chose to do so and/or you're out of "arm stamina".

So yeah - Please make it so low-ready is either just visual thing for immersion or it's totally optional.

In my dreams I see Gearbox patching BL3 for Switch 2...

...because the game is still a broken mess on S2 and deserves soooo much betteer :(

Come on Gearbox! I would pay pretty penny for dedicated S2 upgrade!!!

Will DMZ 2 have solo queue?

Hello - Is there any news about upcoming DMZ2 and solo queue?

I love extraction shooters as a solo player (over 3000h in Tarkov solo, around 300 in Marathon)

Game crashing when exiting tunnel C and entering Frozen Swamp

And it happens every time on this one transit.

I don't have any mods installed, game's capped at 60fps so nothing that would push the game to it's limits etc.

Anyone has any idea what's causing it?
Or is it just... Forever Winter being Forever Winter :(

Wanting to go back after long break. Is the game still good for 100% solo player?

Played a ton around launch. Had TONS of fun.

That being said - due to how life goes I had to stop playing for a looooong time. Haven't touched the game in months :(

I know there was new map added, new enemies, quests etc.

Buuut... I'm a 100% solo player. Around launch it was awesome, because you could solo all content and have cool interactions with other solo players as well.

Did anything change? Or is the game still an awsome extraction shooter for solo players? Is solo priority queue still in the game?

Takedown is fun!

Just finished the basic run.

Fun, but kinda short, dungeon. I like it.

It opens up with new difficulties afterwards with increase chances for better loot.

Overall - Maybe not on par with BL3 Takedowns BUT it's still fun endgame dungeon that combines mobbing and bossing. I like it.

Is this good?

I was farmin totally different gun and this dropped after 10min.

I did heard the gun is good but tbh I never researched it so I have no clue if those parts/roll is any good.

If it's ok, are there any good C4SH builds that can use it??

I killed Subjugator and Thol on UVHM 6 and yet I can't go to UVHM 7

[EDIT]

Yup. It's a bug. For some reason, even tho I was at UVHM 6, game "uncheked" Bloomreaper from challanges. So I had to kill him again and THEN kill Sub. and Thol... again.

Big thx to u/LifeguardThink4611 for info and coop during Sub/Thol fight!

[OP]

I did fail time limit but I finally killed the boss(es)

Now the fight is unlocked to farm via Moxxie but an option to switch the game to UVHM 7 is totally missing.

What I'm doing wrong? Do you HAVE to beat them within the time limit??

Devs made this game specifically for me...

...Because for me, it's pretty much one of those "dream come true" games.

I love loot

I love extraction shooters

I love proper, meaty first person gunplay

I love singleplayer games without FOMO bullshit

I love deep, creepy vibes and lore

I love dungeon crawling mixed with open world activities

I love SP games with proper replay value

So yeah. Thx devs. It's like You made the game just for me :P

Kocham was panowie (i panie) z Astronauts! Dziękuję!

I just realised (yes-I'm that slow) that enemies make almost no sound

I was just playing the game after a looooong break.

Started fresh, new character etc.

Game is SOOOOO goddamn good it's crazy! Easly one of the best shooters I played. Period.

That being said - There's one thing that I kinda forgot and now came to my mind. You know how in every shooter (or every game for that matter) enemies are... more vocal?
Even if they don't talk they will shout smth, grunt, yell - anything.

In Witchfire tho... Most enemies are pretty dead silent.
Of course you hear them stomping around but apart from those eplosive, crawlers, bosses and some other, few enemies - Everyone else is silent.

It sure adds to eerie atmosphere of the world and the feeling of being alone buuut I'm not gonna lie - A grunt, shout here and there from the enemies might be smth nice to see in the future update perhaps.

Still - Food for thought. I just found it intersting because it was like an itch and I coudn't really tell what's missing befire realising that it's enemies "voices".

As much as I respect modders for their incredible effort - Bethesda is relying on them way too much

Pretty much as title says.

Obviously mods are great part of gaming in general.

Mod creators are fantastic at making small and big optional changes that very often transform existing games into totally new experiences.

And for that - I'm really grateful.

I also apreciate Bethesda being open for mods pretty much since Morrowind in a massive way that was great example for other developers.

Payed mods - Well I can't support them with clean conscience but that's another can of worms.

All that being said - I think Starfield is crossing a dangerous line of "mods as alternative ways to enjoy the game" to "mods as the only way to enjoy the game".

Don't get me wrong - Vanilla Starfield is really fun. Recent Terran expansion was IMO fantastic and added endgame and bunch of new, cool stuff - But since then... silence with exeption of....
...More marketing around payed mods.

And that makes me wonder how "complete" Elder Scrolls 6 will be? Because Starfield already feel like a "platform" to build upon instead of fully fleshed out game.

In the time Starfield is out, a lot of other AAA devs would release bunch of DEV MADE additions.

CDPR famously released bunch of free DLCs for Witcher/Cyberpunk, STALKER 2 devs released free mission, weapons and AI overhaul, Crimson Desert devs released tons of new features to their game, even Ubisoft released bunch of new stuff for Outlaws and AC: Shadows. List goes on...

So yeah - I would like to see BETHESDA made content. Not just fan made one.

Help me improve - All of a sudden all AI Civs declared a war against me at the same time.

Hello.

Firstly - THIS IS NOT A COMPLAIN/RANT! I just want to learn and realise what I did wrong or where I could improve!

I'm very casual Civilization player. I played Civ games since Civ III, my most played one is Civ 6 with around 600h.
I'm ok(ish) player who enjoys 4x games more for immersion and I tend to treat them more like RPGs than trying to min-max stuff.

So I usually play on normal difficulty level and I love it!

So! What's the problem?

Well I just brought Civ 7 and here is how it's going:

I play on Viceroy diff. level (like I said - I'm a casual)

I chose Augustus paired with Rome.

I wanted to focus on Cultural victory

I decided that I want to focus on Rome as primary city and have around 4 towns and 1 more city - I'm also a Suzerain of 4 independant powers.

I reached Modern Age nicely with a war here and there.

And here comes the issue...

After reaching Modern Age my neighbour - Ibn Battuta, who already declared war agains me multiple times, did it again. Every time he does it Trung Trac joins him and attacks me as well.

It's all good tho because since the begining of the game they've been attacking me together so I assume they have a alliance and I can handle 2 civs attacking me.

But all of a sudden ALL remaining civs attacked me as well. Within the same round. And I had neutral standing with all of them.
Also... They are not even on the same continent as me, Trung and Battuta.
US, France, Norway etc. ALL of them, out of the blue, within the same round started a war.

So here I am - at war - with every single civilization there is.

So what I did wrong? It's not that I'm way more advanced and AI feels a need to stop me from winning. I do produce the most culture but when it comes to science/military I'm behind some of the civs.

So yeah - What might be the problem and why every civ decided to attack me all at once in the same round?

Again - Not a complain. I'm just trying to understand the game a bit better.

Devs, please - PLEASE, make controller support a bit better

Love the game. Played quite a lot (around 250h).
I did play Mouse & Keyboard but recently my right arm got busted and I've been gaming on controller.
Now I get FW is PC game but please! If possible add proper controller support in one of the upcoming patches.

It 'kinda' works now but menu navigation, aiming and overall responsivness is lacking :/

Ok, so before I start, I just want to say: I REALLY enjoy new expansion and the massive overhaul that came with it.

I think it's not just the best Diablo 4 has ever been - I think it made Diablo 4 easly one of the most enjoyable aRPGs on the market.

That being said - The one "I donno" thing I have with this expansion is a shift from farming legendary items towards farming meterials and THEN trying to craft item you desire.

On one hand - Cool. It finally made it so yellow/blue/white items are really important as a base to craft upon.
On the other - It made it so loot drops themselfs are kinda... tedious? And I get it that some of that can be mitigated by using loot filter but as someone who always was "loot drops >> crafting" player I feel like gathering neccessary aspects is now a bit more of a slog than before.

Bare in mind! I'm not saying it's totally bad. That's why I'm still not sure if I like the change or not because so far it didn't really "click" for me.

I think one thing that would made existing system soooo much smoother while keeping all the new changes would be bringing back some of the aspects into Nightmare Dungeons again.

Anyway - I'm just on T6 with my Druid so maybe later on loot drops are a little bit better and crafting vs loot drops are evened out but for now I'm just not sure if I like the shift towards crafting.
