5 weeks since launch. 390 opens, 80 people actually tried it, 0 subs. How do you make decisions with no data?

Language app, both stores, launched five weeks ago. No audience, no ad budget.

Here's what I've done so far:

Two weeks of daily posting on Instagram and TikTok. I did localized titles, subtitles and keyword sets, as well as screenshots and preview video for every app store. I went deep on ASO and I don't think the listing itself is the problem anymore.

Most users were friends, family, and people being polite. Here's the data:

  • 400 people opened the app
  • 216 finished onboarding
  • 80 ever performed the core action even once
  • 3 people ever touched the second core action of the product
  • 0 subscriptions
  • Installs peaked at ~10/day (friends and family), now ~5/day and falling
  • D1 9.7%, D7 6.2%, D30 1.2%

Impressions aren't increasing. I don't rank for anything with search volume, and nothing searches for what I do rank for. The social content I post is drawing basically no one. I'm launching on ProductHunt next week and I honestly doubt it will do anything at all.

I can't rule the product out, but I also can't diagnose it with 80 people, most of whom I know personally. I need actual motivated users before I can learn anything, and I can't get them.

so, questions for people who've actually gotten past this point:

  1. When did your traffic stop being people you know? What was the first channel that produced a stranger who paid, and how long did it take?
  2. Is ASO actually a launch channel, or does it only work once you already have downloads and ratings feeding the ranking?
  3. How long did you post before organic social did anything? Two weeks feels short but it also feels absolutely useless and I don't know what the normal curve looks like.
  4. What worked that isn't "post on reddit and tiktok"?

Opened a business checking account, have not received my debit card

I emailed my account manager to ask about it, she said I specifically need to request one oneline.

I've been looking for it, the only visible options are "replace a debit card" (forces me to choose an existing card to replace, don't want that) or "activate debit card" (says 'no cards need activating').

Hey guys! I built a live speech correction app, looking for interested Portuguese learners to try it out

Hey guys!

I'm building Aurelia, an app that gives you live grammar and pronunciation correction in your second language. The app specifically focuses on speaking practice, since that’s where (in my experience) its hard to get and remember corrections to your speech. So far it’s built out with 6 languages, and you get grammar/pronunciation help, and the change to build grammar and vocab flashcards from your mistakes.

I'm getting close to a testing phase and looking for people to try it before it goes live. If you're interested, sign up below and I'll reach out when it's ready.

Testers get:

  • Free Pro access during the entire test period
  • One free month of Pro after launch (for testers that provide feedback)
  • A chance to shape the app before it's public

https://forms.gle/vgRR1EErhy7DJSBF8

It takes 30 seconds to sign up, and I'll reach out when the time comes.

Thanks!

Also, here's a demo of how it works in Portuguese!

Keep getting emails about "Lost Mode Enabled" on stolen iPhone

My phone was stolen last night. I put it into lost mode one hour after the theft. During the night I got multiple emails over a few hours saying "Lost Mode Enabled" and "Apple Pay was suspended".

It sounds like they were disabled and enabled over and over, meaning there were periods where lost mode was disabled and apple pay was not suspended. It's making me concerned that lost mode is not working correctly.

Edit: just got another email. It even says "when Lost Mode was initiated". I put this phone into lost mode 12 hours ago and never took it out. thats disconcerting

Want to transfer app from my personal developer account to an LLC account, unsure whether to use Apple Business Manager or a regular Apple account

I created an LLC to transfer ownership of my app from my personal developer account (my personal Apple account) to one under my LLC, to not put my personal Apple account at risk if I run into any legal trouble with the app.

I was trying to create a normal apple account under my LLC, also using a business email I purchased from Google, since I read that Apple is finicky and wants a professional email matching the LLC's name.

So I had the choice to open a normal Apple account, or an Apple Business Managed account.

I read here on Reddit about several issues (1, 2) with the Business Managed account and Apple developer program, and decided to just open a normal Apple account under the LLC's name.

However, I couldn't create a normal account. After about 7 calls to support, a member told me "you can't create a normal account because you're using a business email ["support@myCompanyName.com"], you need to create a Business Managed Account, it's the only way."

That's obviously not what I've read online, and don't get the impression that any support member fully understand what it is I want to do.

Anyone know the best solution for me?
