Severe iron & vitamin D deficiency but still experiencing swaying/dizziness symptoms

Hi everyone, I’m looking for some advice/reassurance from anyone who has experienced something similar.
I’ve been having ongoing **swaying/rocking dizziness and balance-type symptoms** for a while. It feels like I’m swaying or moving even when I’m standing still, and it can be worse when walking, standing, looking up/down or moving my head.
My recent blood results showed:
**Ferritin: 8 µg/L** — very low
**Vitamin D: 17 nmol/L** — very low
**Vitamin B12: 337 ng/L** — normal
**Folate: 12 µg/L** — normal
**TSH: 1.66 mU/L** — normal
My GP said I have significant iron deficiency and vitamin D deficiency. I’ve started taking **ferrous sulfate 200 mg** and I’ve also had a vitamin D injection.
I was originally taking my dizziness medication **3 times a day**, but I’ve now reduced it to **2 times a day**. I’m still experiencing the swaying sensation, though.
Has anyone else had very low ferritin and vitamin D and experienced this kind of swaying/rocking dizziness or imbalance? If so, **how long did it take before your symptoms started improving after treating the deficiencies?**
I’d really appreciate hearing from anyone who has gone through something similar, especially if the swaying continued for a while even after starting treatment.

Lump in neck/jaw area after colds – worried and looking for advice

Hi everyone, I’m hoping someone might have experienced something similar because I’m really anxious about it.
I noticed a small lump around the side of my neck/under my jaw towards the end of June. I had a really bad cold around the end of December/January, which was probably the worst cold I’ve ever had, and then I had another cold in July. I’ve also had ongoing nasal congestion.
I saw my doctor and they examined the lump on 31 July. They didn’t seem overly concerned, but I’m still worried about it, especially because it’s still there.
I have been touching/checking it quite a lot, and I’m wondering whether that could be making it stay irritated or feel more noticeable.
Has anyone had a lump like this after repeated colds or ongoing congestion that took weeks/months to go down? Did anyone have an ultrasound and find that it was just a reactive lymph node?
I’m considering having an ultrasound for reassurance. I’d really appreciate hearing other people’s experiences, especially if you’ve had a similar neck lump after a viral infection.

Has anyone taken Betahistine for dizziness/floaty balance symptoms? Did it help you?

Hi everyone, I’ve recently been prescribed Betahistine 8mg (3 times a day) for ongoing dizziness/balance issues.
My symptoms are not really spinning vertigo — it’s more like:
feeling like I’m walking on a trampoline or the moon,
feet feeling floaty/jelly,
feeling like I’m swaying or moving when I’m actually standing still,
worse when standing still and sometimes worse with head movements.
I started taking the medication and noticed some improvement, but I still get flare-ups where the symptoms come back (especially when I’m stressed, tired, or after my recent illness).
I’m wondering:
Did Betahistine help anyone with similar non-spinning dizziness or balance problems?
How long did it take before you noticed a difference?
Did you still have good days and bad days while taking it?
Did anyone find it helped more over time?
Would really appreciate hearing other people’s experiences. Thank you.

6 months of rocking/swaying dizziness — does anyone relate?

Hi everyone, I’m looking for advice or people who have experienced something similar.
I’ve had a constant “swaying/rocking/floating” feeling for around 6 months. It’s not spinning vertigo — it feels more like I’m on a boat, the ground is moving, or my feet feel like they’re sliding.
It started after a very stressful period and a panic attack after a car accident. At my worst, standing still was horrible (especially in places like the bathroom, shower, or waiting somewhere). I felt like I was going to lose balance, but I have never actually fainted or fallen.
Some things I’ve noticed:
Standing still is worse than walking.
Supermarkets, shopping centres and busy places make it much worse.
Looking around, head movements, or lots of visual stimulation can trigger it.
Walking is sometimes much easier when I’m distracted and not focusing on it.
I’ve had good periods where I was able to walk a lot (even around 15k steps), then I can suddenly flare again.
Being in the car often makes it feel better.
Sometimes blocking my ear with my finger makes the floating feeling reduce (not sure why).
I’ve also had fatigue, body aches, and recently a cold.
My GP said there was no obvious cause yet, is doing blood tests (including thyroid etc.), and mentioned possibly doing a face-to-face cardiovascular and neurological examination if needed.
I was given betahistine 8mg and it has helped — I’m not 100%, but I’m definitely better than before. My doctor mentioned increasing to 16mg if needed.
I’m wondering if anyone has experienced something similar:
PPPD?
Vestibular issues?
Vestibular migraine?
POTS/orthostatic intolerance?
Something else?
Would really appreciate hearing other people’s experiences.

feeling completely drained and scared

Hi everyone,
I’m posting because I’m honestly exhausted and looking for people who may have experienced something similar.
I’ve always struggled with health anxiety. Before all this, I was already someone who worried about my health and checked my body a lot. I even bought an Apple Watch mainly for steps, but it turned into constantly checking my heart rate and panicking over normal increases during chores or movement.
A few months ago I was involved in a car accident. I was the passenger on a motorway when the car skidded off into a side road and hit a lamp post. The airbags didn’t come out. The front of the car was damaged, but we all felt okay afterwards. I had no neck pain, no obvious injuries, and I was able to carry on doing normal things.
The biggest thing that happened afterwards was that I had the worst panic attack of my life. My fear was that I hadn’t gone to hospital and that I had somehow missed something serious. I got stuck in a cycle of “what if something is wrong with my brain?” and constantly checking myself.
Since then I’ve developed dizziness that I never had before. It’s not really spinning vertigo most of the time — it feels more like:
rocking/swaying like I’m on a boat
feeling like the ground is moving or my feet are sliding
feeling floaty inside my head
feeling unstable when standing still
worse with lots of movement, chores, busy places, or looking around
sometimes brief spinning with head movement
sometimes a strange fullness/pressure feeling in one ear
At my worst, I felt like I couldn’t stand without leaning on something. I went to urgent care and they checked me and didn’t find anything urgent.
Recently I have improved. I can stand more, shower, cook, clean, and do chores again. I was prescribed betahistine and it seems to have helped my ability to stay upright, but I still get flare-ups. Doing things like hanging washing or moving around a lot can bring back the rocking feeling.
The hardest part now is the mental exhaustion. I feel drained and tired of constantly fighting my own thoughts. Some days I feel like I can’t enjoy life because I’m always analysing my body and worrying about what could be wrong. It feels like my mind is stuck in a loop of fear, and I miss feeling like myself.
Every day my mind jumps to something new — brain disease, neck problems, heart problems, etc. I know my health anxiety plays a big role, but the physical sensations are also very real and frightening.
Has anyone experienced something similar after a scary event or panic attack? Did anyone develop rocking/swaying dizziness afterwards and get diagnosed with PPPD, vestibular migraine, another vestibular disorder, or something else?
I’m not asking for a diagnosis, just hoping to hear from people who understand this and what helped them recover.

Months of rocking/floaty dizziness after a panic attack following a car accident — does anyone relate?

Hi everyone,
I’m looking for advice or anyone who has experienced something similar.
A few months ago I was in a car accident. I didn’t have any obvious injuries, no neck pain, and I didn’t go to hospital at the time. The thing that affected me most was the fear afterwards — I had the worst anxiety/panic attack of my life because I became terrified that I had missed something serious by not getting checked.
Before this, I did have health anxiety and I used to obsessively check my heart rate on my Apple Watch, but I never had this type of dizziness.
Since the accident, I’ve had ongoing dizziness that feels like:
rocking/swaying like I’m on a boat
feeling like the ground is moving or I’m sliding
a floaty feeling in my head and ears
feeling like I might fall when standing still
worse in the shower, busy places, or when there is lots of movement
sometimes brief spinning sensations when moving my head
At my worst, I felt like I couldn’t stand without leaning on something because I felt like I was going backwards and forwards. I went to urgent care and they checked my blood pressure, blood sugar, looked at my eyes, and did basic checks, and nothing urgent was found.
Recently I’ve improved. I can stand much more, shower, cook, do chores, and walk around. I still get flares though, especially in the mornings or after doing too much. Lying down helps a lot.
My GP gave me betahistine and I feel like it has helped me tolerate standing more, but I still get the floaty/rocking feeling sometimes.
I’m wondering if anyone has had something similar after a scary event or panic attack? Did you get diagnosed with PPPD, vestibular migraine, BPPV, another vestibular issue, or something else? Did vestibular rehabilitation therapy help?
I’m not looking for a diagnosis, just experiences and advice. Thank you.

7 months of dizziness/rocking feeling — improved but still getting flare ups. Does this sound familiar?

Hi everyone,
I’ve been dealing with dizziness/balance issues for around 7 months. It started after a very stressful period and a panic attack after a car accident.
At the worst point, I felt like I couldn’t even stand properly. My legs felt like jelly, the floor felt like it was moving, and I felt like I was being pushed or pulled. Standing still (especially in the shower, bathroom, or at the sink) was the worst.
Recently I’ve improved a lot. I can now stand, do kitchen chores, and walk more than before. I was prescribed betahistine by my GP for a balance issue, and within a few days I felt a big improvement.
However, I still get strange sensations sometimes:
feeling like my body is moving or being pushed down from behind
a “moon walk” feeling in my feet/heels, like I’m walking on a cushion
feeling floaty when standing or walking for a long time
feeling worse when turning a lot
when I close my eyes while standing, I sway back and forth a lot more
sometimes my whole body feels floaty even while sitting
I don’t have:
weakness
numbness
falls
speech problems
vision loss
I’m worried because I keep reading about things like Ménière’s disease, neurological conditions, etc., and it’s making me panic.
Has anyone experienced anything similar? Did you find out what it was? Did it take a long time to recover?

6 months of dizziness after car accident + panic attack — does this sound like PPPD or vestibular issue?

Hi everyone, I’m looking for some advice because I’ve been dealing with this for months and I’m trying to understand what could be going on.
Everything started after a car accident. After the accident I had a really bad panic attack, and since then I’ve had ongoing dizziness/balance issues.
At first I could still stand and walk, but over time it got worse. I had a really bad flare where I felt like I couldn’t stand properly anymore. My legs felt shaky, I felt like the floor was moving, and standing in the bathroom/shower was the hardest. I felt like I was going to fall or faint, but sitting down helped a lot. Being in a car also makes me feel much better.
My symptoms:
Feeling like I’m sliding, floating, or doing a “moon walk”
Swaying feeling like I’m on a boat
Worse when standing still
Worse in the shower, stairs, and busy places like malls
Feeling detached/unreal sometimes, like I’m a doll walking around
Sometimes hot flushes and shaky feelings when walking a lot
Focusing on one spot helps me stand better
Sitting down usually helps a lot
Before all this, I did have a few episodes of true spinning vertigo that lasted a few minutes, especially when rolling onto my side in bed, but that hasn’t happened for months.
I went to urgent care and they checked my blood pressure, blood sugar, and temperature and everything was okay. My GP thought it could be a balance/inner ear issue and started me on betahistine. I’ve been taking it for nearly a week and honestly it has helped a lot. I can go out again, stand better, and the sliding feeling is much less, but some symptoms are still there.
Does this sound like PPPD, a vestibular problem, or something else? Has anyone had a similar experience after a car accident or panic attack?

Has anyone experienced this kind of dizziness and jittery feeling?

I’ve been dealing with dizziness for several months and my GP thinks it’s a balance/vestibular issue. I’m currently taking betahistine and I do think I’m slowly improving because I can stand for longer than before.
The strange part is what happens when I move around.
When I walk, do chores, move my head a lot, or sometimes after eating (especially breakfast), I feel really jittery. My heart feels like it’s beating harder or faster, but whenever I check my pulse it’s usually normal and feels regular.
The best way I can describe it is:
My feet feel floaty, like they’re not properly on the ground.
It feels like I’m “moon walking” or like I’m a puppet.
My legs feel shaky and unstable.
I feel like I might drop, but I’ve never actually fainted.
If I lie down, I usually feel much better.
Sitting in a car, I’m usually completely fine.
Crowded places also make everything worse, whereas being outside in fresh air seems to help.
I’m wondering if anyone else with a vestibular/balance problem has experienced this combination of:
floaty feet,
shaky legs,
feeling like you’re walking on the moon,
and feeling your heartbeat more during movement, even though your heart rate is normal.
Did it improve over time? Did vestibular rehab or medication help?
I’d really appreciate hearing from anyone who’s experienced something similar.

Dizziness, swaying feeling, heart racing when standing/moving — anyone else had this? (on betahistine)

Hi everyone,
I’ve been dealing with something really confusing and scary for a while now and I’m trying to see if anyone has experienced similar.
My main symptoms are:
Feeling dizzy / floaty / off balance
Feeling like I’m swaying or being pulled when walking
Feeling like my feet aren’t properly on the ground
Symptoms get worse when I:
stand up
walk
look up or down
move my head or arms
My heart feels like it races or I become very aware of it, especially when I feel unsteady or anxious
Sometimes I feel shaky / jittery
I feel much better when I lie down
I’ve had my:
blood pressure checked → normal
blood sugar checked → normal
heart rate checked → usually normal (around 70–90 at rest, sometimes ~100+ when walking or anxious)
My GP thinks it may be a balance/vestibular issue and has started me on:
Betahistine dihydrochloride (8mg, Milpharm) – 3 times a day (trial for 1 week)
I’ve started it and I do feel a bit better sometimes, but I still get episodes where I feel really unsteady and my heart feels like it’s racing when I move.
What’s confusing me is:
It feels worse in the morning
Sometimes food seems to help
Sitting/lying down makes it better
But standing or moving can bring it back quickly
I’m really anxious about it because it feels like my heart is involved, but tests so far have been normal.
Has anyone had similar symptoms and what was your outcome?
Any advice or reassurance would really help.

Feeling dizzy, swaying, near-faint when standing but urgent care said everything is normal — what could this be?

Hi everyone,
I’m really confused and a bit scared so I wanted to ask if anyone has experienced something similar.
For the past while I’ve been getting episodes where:
When I stand up or walk I feel really dizzy and like I might pass out
My legs feel shaky and weak
I feel hot/flushed sometimes
My balance feels off / like I’m swaying or “sliding” even when lying in bed
My eyes sometimes feel like they can’t properly focus
I feel better sitting or in a car, but worse when standing or moving
Today it got worse so I went to urgent care. They checked my blood pressure, heart rate, blood sugar, and temperature and said everything was normal. They told me to follow up with my GP.
Now I’m confused because I still feel these symptoms even though all the tests were normal at the time I was feeling unwell.
Has anyone had anything similar?
What could cause:
dizziness + swaying/rocking feeling
feeling like you might faint when standing
symptoms improving when sitting or in a car
normal basic checks at urgent care
I’m worried but also trying to understand what this could be. Any advice or similar experiences would really help.

Feeling dizzy, shaky, overwhelmed + sensitive to noise after a panic attack/accident — could this be anxiety, PPPD, or something else?

Hi everyone,
I’m honestly struggling a lot and just need some advice or people who might relate.
Since a car accident and panic attack last year, I’ve been dealing with really strange symptoms that come and go. Some days I can walk fine (even 10k–15k steps), shower normally, and feel okay. Other days I suddenly feel really unsteady, like:
dizziness / rocking or swaying feeling
jelly legs or weakness when standing or walking
feeling worse in busy places like shopping centres
heart racing at times, especially after eating or when standing
feeling overwhelmed by noise or arguments (it makes me cry or feel like it hits my head)
feeling much better when sitting or lying down
Lately it’s been affecting daily life more, like showering, going to the bathroom, and even just being in noisy environments. It also seems worse when I’m stressed or when people around me are arguing.
I’ve been wondering if this could be something like PPPD, POTS, anxiety/nervous system overload, or something else like B12/iron issues. The problem is everything seems to overlap and I’m confused.
Has anyone experienced something similar after stress, panic attacks, or trauma? And if so, what helped you get better?
I’m trying to understand what’s going on and not spiral, but it’s really affecting my life right now.

Feeling like I’m going to pass out in shopping centres – does anyone else get this?

I’ve been struggling with something that’s really worrying me and wondered if anyone else has experienced it.
Today I went into a shopping centre and within a few minutes I started feeling really weird. I became very dizzy, my legs felt like jelly, and I had this swaying/rocking feeling like I couldn’t stand properly. My whole back, from the back of my head down my spine, felt really stiff and tense. I felt so overstimulated by all the people, lights, and noise that I thought I was going to pass out.
I got so scared that people were going to see me faint that I had to leave straight away. As soon as I got back to the car and sat down, I started feeling much better within a few minutes.
The strange thing is I’ve been to the same shopping centre recently and felt completely fine. Some days I can go out with no problems at all, and other days I feel awful.
I also get episodes where after eating (especially in the morning) I become shaky, dizzy, my heart races, and I feel like I’m going to faint, especially if I get up and start doing things.
I’ve never actually fainted, but the feeling is so convincing that it really scares me.
Has anyone experienced anything similar? If so, did you ever find out what was causing it?

Does anyone get a racing heart after meals if they get up straight away?

Hi everyone,
I’m wondering if anyone else experiences this.
Almost every time I eat, especially a bigger meal, my heart starts racing if I stand up straight away or try to do anything around the house. I feel really shaky, hot, breathless, and like I just can’t stay on my feet. Sometimes it feels like my legs are weak or wobbly too.
The strange thing is that if I sit back down, my heart rate gradually settles and I start feeling much better. It’s mainly when I’m upright after eating that it’s at its worst.
Has anyone else had this? Did you ever find out what was causing it? I’ve seen people mention things like blood pressure changes, blood sugar, or POTS/dysautonomia, but I’m not sure.
I’d really appreciate hearing if anyone has experienced something similar or has any advice. Thanks!

Persistent dizziness / rocking sensation after panic attack — worse standing, better sitting. Could this be anxiety or PPPD?

Hi everyone,
I’ve been dealing with something that’s really affecting my daily life and I’m hoping to hear if anyone else has experienced this.
For months now I’ve had a constant dizziness / swaying / rocking sensation, mostly when I’m standing or walking. It feels like my body is moving or I’m on a boat, even though I’m still.
My symptoms:
Dizziness / swaying feeling when standing or moving
Feels worse when I’m upright and better when sitting or lying down
“Jelly legs” / shaky feeling when I stand
Sometimes heart racing when I feel dizzy (but it settles when I sit)
Feeling like I might fall even though I’ve never actually fainted
Feels worse when I focus on it or feel anxious
Triggers / background:
This started after a really bad panic attack a while ago. I also had a minor car accident around the same time (no injuries, no airbags, but it really triggered my anxiety again).
Since then I feel like I’ve been stuck in a cycle of:
dizziness → fear → panic → worse symptoms → more fear
I also have a long history of health anxiety on and off for years, but this feels like it’s become constant.
What I’ve noticed:
I feel significantly better when I sit down or lie down
Symptoms come on more when I’m upright, cooking, cleaning, or moving around
Some days are better than others
I can still function but it feels very difficult and draining
What I’m worried about:
I keep worrying it could be something serious like heart issues, neurological problems, or something like POTS or PPPD. I’ve read a lot online which probably hasn’t helped my anxiety.
I’ve had basic medical checks in the past (blood tests, etc.) which were fine, but I haven’t had anything recent for this specific issue.

My question:
Has anyone experienced something similar — constant swaying dizziness like this that gets worse standing and improves sitting?
And if so, what helped you?
I’m really trying to understand if this is anxiety-related, vestibular, or something else, because right now it feels like I’m stuck in a loop and it’s really affecting my life.

Constant rocking / swaying dizziness after panic attack + car accident (standing is worst, walking is okay) — anyone recovered?

Hi everyone,
I’m looking for people with similar symptoms because I’ve been dealing with something really strange since around December.
It started after a car accident (we hit a lamp post, no airbags) and shortly after I had a panic attack. Since then I’ve had ongoing dizziness that hasn’t fully gone away.i did use to get use to get vertigo and dizziness on and off but didn’t last more than few minutes
My symptoms:
Constant rocking / swaying / wobbling sensation
Feels like my feet are sliding or not stable
Standing still is the worst (kitchen, queues, shower are hard)
Walking is actually easier and I can do 2k–15k steps a day
Looking down at my phone while walking makes me dizzy
Moving head up/down or busy environments can trigger it
Sometimes feel weak/heavy legs, but I can still move normally
Symptoms come and go in intensity (some days are better)
Occasionally get palpitations, hot flush, pins and needles
What makes it confusing:
I don’t actually lose balance or fall
I can still walk long distances
Some days I’m almost okay
Lying down or sitting can still feel “off” sometimes
It feels worse when I focus on it
What I’ve noticed:
It started after panic + accident
It seems worse when I’m stressed or paying attention to it
Movement sometimes helps more than stillness
My question:
Has anyone had something similar where it feels like constant dizziness/rocking but you can still function and walk нормально?
What did it turn out to be for you, and did it ever go away?

Dizziness or something major

Hi everyone,
I’ve been dealing with ongoing symptoms since around December and I’m honestly exhausted from constantly worrying and trying to figure out what’s wrong with me.its not the heart racing more it’s the dizziness swaying floaty especially if I’m walking in one spot once I stop I’ll feel like my feet are still unstable
My main issue is dizziness that comes and goes. Some days it’s mild, other days it feels like I’m unstable when walking or standing still. When I walk, I sometimes feel like my legs are weak or like I could fall, but I don’t actually collapse. If I lean on something, I feel better.
I also get a lot of other symptoms that seem to change throughout the day, like:
sudden hot or cold feelings in my body
sweaty hands/feet or general sweating episodes
feeling shaky or “on edge” inside
burning or tired eyes
head pressure or weird facial sensations at times
ear “whooshing” when I stand up
stiff or tense muscles/joints
The strangest part is how much I notice every single sensation in my body. It feels like I’m constantly scanning myself all day, and it’s mentally and physically exhausting. The more I focus on it, the worse or more noticeable everything feels.
This has led me to a lot of worry. My mind keeps jumping to serious things like brain tumour, sepsis, blood pressure issues, etc., even though I know that might not make sense. I get stuck in cycles of:
feeling something → worrying → more symptoms → more worry
I’ve noticed I feel worse when I’m standing still, walking without support, or when I’m focusing on my body. If I’m distracted, I feel a bit better.
Also important to mention: my heart doesn’t race all the time. It only tends to happen in certain situations like when I’m anxious, after drinking coke, or sometimes after eating quickly — but not every time I stand up or move around.
Today was actually a better day overall. I still had some mild dizziness on and off, especially when moving around or standing still for a while, but it wasn’t as intense as other days. I felt a bit more stable and less overwhelmed compared to usual.
At this point I just feel drained every day and I’m not sure if this is anxiety, a dizziness condition, or something else. I’m not looking for a diagnosis, just wondering if anyone else has experienced something similar or knows what helped them.
Thanks for reading.
