Is it possible to go from a 27 to 33-34 in about 6 months?

I bought study materials. (PrepPro's Math Book and Erika's English Book) My scores were 26math 25sci 21eng 😭 and 35read. Is it possible and likely if I consistenly study for 6 months. I also have an ACT Prep class for my first semester.

Marching Band Mouthpiece

Im in a marching band and Just bought a Theo Wanne Essentials Jazz mouthpiece and am wondering should I use that for a brighter jazzier sound stick to my optimum al3 for a dark and more centered tone for marching band?

Tip opening advice

I finally bought my first jazz mouthpiece (first mouthpiece ever honestly) I spent $191 on a Theo wanne jazz essentials mouthpiece (I was going do either that or the v16). I played an Optimum al6 before this (found in a random case but legendary find). and my Theo wanne is a tip opening 7 so what’s the best way to get used to the change? (I practice everyday but besides that what?)

D'Addario Reserve vs Vandoren Trad Reeds

Long story short I visited a music store to test mouthpieces and got a free strength 3 D'addario reserve reed. Additionally, in short I FREAKING LOVE IT. I've never felt so at ease while playing and have such a robust sound. With Trad blues I always felt at battle with my reed to get the clarity I got first try from the D'addario reserves. My big question is was I lucky with getting a good reed or are D'Addario Reserve's just better?

Mouthpiece choices

So I visited my local music store and had a blast testing 2 mouthpieces and would like some outside help in what I should buy. I tested an essential jazz theo wanne mouthpiece and a d’addario reserve jazz mouthpeice. I might ask them to order a v16 as that was originally the mouthpiece I was going for.

so my question is which one should I get. I loved the feel of both mouthpieces i tested and plan on testing the v16. all are in my price range but what are y’all’s experiences with these mouthpieces.

How long should the transcription cycle take?

As I'm preparing for a Mid-All State Jazz Audition I'm developing my ears through this cycle. Transcribe Melody of Standard. Listen to Solos over that standard. Learn to play chord changes of Standard. Solo over Standard. I practice for about an hour and a half daily and this who cycle takes me about 2 weeks is that too long? Too Short? anything I should add?

Tone and Technique Advice/Critiques

In a few months I'm partaking in 9-12 Jazz auditions and considering also doing 11-12 Classical auditions for my states Mid-All State bands. Lmk any tips. I will warn my sound on alto might be a little iffy cuz my reed (yes I only have 1 right now) is chipped in two places. Also should I do Bari or Alto. I like Bari more but feel I have more control on Alto. Also I picked up this tune from I video I was watching about getting faster fingers and read the sheet music off the video so I dont know the name of the tune.

How to sound less grainy

I’ve been practicing for the MTSBOA mid-all state auditions for 11-12 and I’ve been struggling with a slightly grainy tone. while I was practicing today for a moment I found and played a tone that was clear and centered like a classical players should be but then almost immediately lost it. I found that using more mouthpiece can center my tone a little more but I’m wondering if anyone else has or had the same problems and knows a solution. To mention my reed is chipped in 2 places and quite used. also yes I do long tones I have a good tone just need it to be centered and not grainy like professional classical players.

Could I score mid to high 30's

https://preview.redd.it/xmlekqrqivfh1.png?width=616&format=png&auto=webp&s=f07a4014867fd01a5a1615cfce1d45b0ceb46d05

My School takes the ACT for Juniors next Februrary and I recently bought the PrepPros math book and Erica Meltzer English book. If I consistently study from now to Janurary should I be able to score in the mid to high 30's. I'm also planning to self teach myself PreCalculus with the aid of some consoulors. Any other recomendations besides the books and just studying? Should I take it a few times before next year?

Private Lessons Questions

I'm a 5 year alto player (been playing since 6th Grade) and my annual assesorsand my own directors say I would benefit greatly from private lessons as I'm already really good. I've performed in 2nd and 1st chair in a few honor bands and was wondering is there a reliable online website to look for tutors?

Is it normal to sound by on phone recording but good irl?

I have a virtual band and I’m having to record myself playing and my tone sound buns and my articulation sounds kinda blocky. I’ve experimented with phone positions and rooms and I genuinely get humbled. Don’t get me wrong I’m not perfect but I also ain’t straight butt. should I buy a mic adapter for my phone?

Firm but no tension in embouchure.

I've made it 5 years playing and I'm on first chair honor band caliber but one thing that teachers always say but I can never seem to wrap my head around is how your embouchure is to be firm but not too much if any tension because you're supposed to be relaxed. I've finally hit a similar wall to FoolishFrankie and am starting to feel pain in my bottom lip (Im pretty sure FoolishFrankie started having jaw problems cuz of his embouchure) so I keep hearing the equal pressure on all side and like a drawstring bag so I guess my main question is whats the difference between pressure and tension in the embouchure? How would I practice this and know I'm doing it right?

Thinking about maybe selling or trading my horn.

I own a Prelude As711 as my grandpa bought me it after my first honor band. I've been playing for 5 years and think i've outgrown it as it's a beginner horn and im pretty advanced for my age. If I was to upgrade what to and how much maybe could I make off a horn thats fully repaired no leaks and is only 3 years used? I'm thinking of upgrading to a intermediate-advance player horn such as yani, yamaha or even p.maruiat or maybe selmer. Just lmk cuz im new to this.
