How to groom my dog when she cant sit still for longer than 20 seconds?

Hello, I have a German shepherd, about 10 months now, in heat and she cant even stay still long enough for me to put on the leash when we go for a walk.

Brushing her hair I out on the leash and hold her like that but shes jumping around, whining, climbing on me etc.

Cutting nails, paws, cleaning her ears takes more precision and requires more time of being still but she cant even stay still for brushing.

Any last suggestions before taking my vets advice? (Sedating her)

Has your camaro been reliable?

What year/trim is it? If yes, what sorta issues did it have and what was the repair bill? Be honest, did you abuse the engine?

Some time back i crashed my camaro, got totaled and got another car. Since day one ive thought about getting another camaro, driving EVs sucked the fun out of driving.

I had a 2018 camaro LT convertible. Got 38? Mpg, 32 city driving. Which was by far the best milage ive ever had in a car, never abused it. I got rear ended 5 or 6x and every single time the other car had to be towed while my camaro deflected damage like crazy, nothing more than a few scratches.

On the totaled one I was at fault, distracted. Was going 50 something and hit stopped cars. The airbags went off which was the only reason it was totaled but the car was in amazing shape mechanically and cosmetically. I felt so bad because the other car crushed like an accordion

But my car was very reliable, even in extreme situations. I constantly see posts here regarding mechanical issues though which has me questioning whether its worth it especially since they're discontinued

Just had dinner

Decided to try something new and I was pleasantly surprised.

For context im a bodybuilder and i like to keep my six pack for as long as possible so I eat pretty clean. Tbh I lost my love of food a while back so nowadays all I eat is greek yogurt, cream of rice for breakfast, unseasoned (lol) ground turkey for lunch or dinner and chicken breast for dinner.

Today i wasnt feeling it and thought id get a cheat meal but honestly, I dont have any food in the house besides what I regularly eat. I do however keep some Ramen for chest meals. Still, i didnt feel like Ramen. Same old flavor.

So, I boiled 6 eggs, shrimp maruchan(hot take: maruchan is better than cup noodles). Add some avocado, little bit of Valentina. I have chives although never tired em on ramen so I sprinkled some in. Now, controversial topping but add a little bit of diced pickles, just for the flavor. Stir and let all the flavors mix. 5 stars tbh.

And sure alot of sodium but again, I eat a very low sodium, low carb, (low seasoning lol) diet hence the cheat meal. Managed to keep the protein high too

Why might my dog be barking at nothing?

Shes about 9 months, very bratty. So for context, i live in a townhousex imagine that layout. I close off the stairs to upstairs and she has free range downstairs. When she behaves ill leave the back yard door open and she can come in and out at will.

It isnt unknown for her to be needy and beg for attention but she has classic signs of this. She'll be whining alot or in severe cases shell do this bark at the stairs gate

When shes outside she also doesn't bark at passing dogs or people, just stares at them.

But in the last few weeks shes been doing this thing where ill be downstairs in the kitchen, shell be following me and stays with me then all of a sudden sprint up and goes aggressively bark at the living room. More like growing with a few barks in between.

Or, when im upstairs she'll start growling and barking but fast paced walking around the couch which is pretty much the entire room. I'll look at the camera and shes nothing, she isnt barking at any particular thing or spot, just around the couch.

Thoughts? Just because I know reddit, let me get a few things out of the way.

She gets a 3 mile walk every morning and 3 mile walk after work.

She has plenty of toys of all sorts including licking and scent toys

Gets to roam the house freely

Has access to water and potty at will

Crate trained

Hospital story

Idk why I thought about this now but ive always been intrigued since it happened.

Back in 2020 I was in the military, stationed in oahu hawaii. Around 2019? I started having "episodes" as they called them, turns out it was seizures.

While being diagnosed, obviously specialists were limited within the military. Out in the civilian world there also wasn't many specialists available since its a tiny island so the military had no choice but to send me to the only available neuro which happened to be this fancy/rich hospital "the queen's medical center" think it's called. Bro it was fancy as hell. You'd think you were in a 5 star hotel. Rooms had showers, the hallways were decorated with fancy furniture. It didnt look like a hospital at all.

It was obviously expensive so the military tried saving costs by sending me to do general testing in other places when the local military hospital couldn't accommodate which was rare, it only happened once.

Idk if you know anything about Hawaii but hawaii is crowded. Imagine 120 people in your house and this is how downtown Hawaii/Waikiki feels like. So they sent me to a hospital in downtown Honolulu. It was like 8? 9pm? So that was the first weird thing. But I get there and the hospital looks abandoned. Just this security guard outside but I walked what seemed like miles in this deserted hospital looking for where to go or check in with absolutely no patients or staff around. The walls looked like they were crumbling, musky smell, lights flickering.

After about 20 minutes I found a desk with a single nurse and turns out that was the place. Waited, again no patients or nurses. Finally they come get me and theres 2 more nurses, they do their thing and this whole time im just walking around amazed by this place being a hospital when it looks like its crumbling.

Anyway, I left and never went back. I tried looking for it on Google maps but cant find it, I remember it being this massive building which is why it caught me off guard it being so empty

My future isnt looking too bright

Was drifting off into sleep and started thinking about something I haven't in a while.

Long in a nutshell- had epilepsy and severe brain damage at 21, currently 27. Over the years ive discovered the ways its affected me and lowkey noticed it getting worse as I age, I assume it'll keep getting worse?

Well one of the ways, forgot what doctors called it but the first time it happened was around 23? I had knocked out on the living room couch after gaming, woke up at like 4am and I had absolutely ZERO clue where I was. Genuinely, I didnt know anything, nothing looked familiar. Was i back in the military? Where was my roommate? Or was i in maryland?

I have no idea how to describe it. Imagine a house you've lived in for years one day just becomes new. The layout? Gone. The location? Gone. Whats this door lead to? Where's the bathroom? Type thing.

Lasted like 5 min but it was terrifying. I'll get it every so often and more recently it isnt just after waking up but ill be sitting down and for a minute or two I forget everything

Where is the value in WHOOP?

Certainly the wrong place to ask but thought id get a humans perspective as opposed to articles and AI.

So for context, im a really active person, have been for years prior to getting whoop so it isnt like im new to the fitness scene. I do a fair amount of walking in the morning with my dog, weightlifting, and 8 hours of a physical job.

All in all from devices ive tried, apple watch, android watch, ringconn, oura they all stay fairly consistent from about 15k the bare minimum steps anywhere up to 23/25ish. Guess it also depends on the day.

On the whoop, had it for about 5 days/4 nights now and im averaging 9-12k steps. Not only that but its by far been the worst detector of activity in general. Entire sessions will be missed

Sleep detection is fairly accurate, stress is fairly paired up with other devices, heart rate is low ive noticed, really low.

Im just not seeing where the 359 value is, especially for a technology where its not even good at detecting workouts or heart rates. Im aware its still calibrating and maybe thats why or ive also thought maybe its a defective unit. Contacted whoop about it but thought id ask you guys on your thoughts on this.

I use the armband while working and wrist off work.

I kinda regret being too proud to ask for money

I bought my house at 25? At the time i had 4k "eligible" income after tax but in the real world I actually had about 7k on top of that that wasn't eligible to be included in a mortgage app.

Think its specifically how VA loan work? I wasn't able to include my full time hour job because technically I was classified as part time. The other income was from the GI bill which also can't be included.

So in the like 2 years ive owned my house ive paid down 30k in principal alone, not including interest becuase ive been shoveling 1k a month extra into it.

My house was 325 and in california is barely anything. Its a townhouse with potential but it was heavily outdated. I remodeled it, 95k after and it's pretty nice. Still, when looking for houses I noticed standalone houses without HOAs were on the high 300s, low 400s. I was approved for 375k so it wasn't that far off reach.

I knew my parents had lent my brother like 50k I always told myself I wouldn't be a leech like hes been his whole life and thats why I didn't ask. Kinda regret that now ngl. 25k or even 15k would've made a massive difference and honestly I would've saved money by not having to renovate or at least not done extensive renovations like I did with my house

The day i got my first tattoo

Idk why im telling yall this but I thought it was humorous when it happened so here I am.

Ive always wanted a half sleeve, not a sleeve but idk why in particular a half sleeve. I drove the day prior, stayed in a hotel then went there on the day of.

I get there, she does the stencil, wipes it off, does it again. We're about to get to the tattooing, idk if she was concerned or she does it with all her clients but goes through a list of what's going to happen, breaks, etc.

Im a really cold person so 3 hours in, sitting in a chair not moving and im shivering. The room was so cold so that wasn't helping and lowkey I was afraid to say anything ao I just stayed there trying to stop myself from shivering.

I cough a few times, the ones you keep in if that makes sense and your body does like a jerk. Laugh a few times and shes over here like "im sorry, give me 10 minutes and we can take a break" thinking im dying

By hour like 7 she flips me on my back and I finally get to tuck my arm in, roll up in a ball type of thing and i finally warm up. I proceeded to knock out until she finished. She spent like 10 minutes trying to wake me up not knowing I was asleep. It turns into a Q&A about how I had fallen asleep and thats when I told her that had been me shivering and not twitching and in pain. In reality it obviously hadn't hurt lmao

Why can't I see anything straight to save my life?

Hello, male 27, 6ft 180lbs. I had a TBI around 19/20 then developed epilepsy for a few years, cardiac arrest for about 7 min, brain damage from that, epilepsy ended after that event. If i remember correctly it was tonic clonic and cluster, absent suspected but never diagnosed.

I was in the military at the time, the second seizures stopped and I got out of the military i stopped seeing a neuro. Since that event ive discovered the ways it affected me, one of which is i can't seen ti see anything straight.

It's one of the more trivial effects but at times it frustrates me so much and seeing if maybe theres a fix for it?

When hanging up anything it doesnt look straight from up close or far away. A bubble leveler has become my best friend and even when i use one, to my POV it doesnt look straight and ive had to learn to trust the leveler

Or at the gym when Im setting the weight on a dual stack ill have to count them individually to confirm

My shoulders look uneven, buildings look uneven, I have no idea how else to describe it. Its also there when I know for a fact things are leveled.

Imagine looking at a silly mirror I think thats what theyre called, thats what my POV looks like but not as obvious, only once you start looking at things individually

Would you buy a house with a dog door on the siding?

Not too long ago i installed new windows and theyre great, very insulated but the edges come out so far that installing a dog door is impossible. Looked everywhere online and apparently no one sells em to those specs.

So, non dog owners and dog owners, would you buy a house with a dog door cut into the siding?

For context, its one of the best dog doors on the market, insulted and lockable from both sides.

As for me, ive been leaving the door open but swarms of flys and mosquitoes come in

Anyone with experience in concrete?

Hello all, I have my back patio, sized 241x164. About 2/3d of that is paved. The section that is paved is cracked a little bit, seems normal for the age.

I wanted to repave the entire thing, things are expensive so obviously I wanted to save wherever possible. Question is, would it be advisable to dig up the soil, pour concrete then pour about half an inch higher than where the current slab is? Would it be as strong and durable as pouring the whole thing?

Thank

Imposter syndrome

Kinda unrelated but thought id share. Today i benched 310 for the first time and im lowkey afraid of saying it for the fear of being called out on lying. I feel like im lying but i physically lived it, yet I dont believe myself.

After I got out I spent years hiding the fact that I was in the military for the same reason, part of that was shame as well. Dont get me wrong, I already had a little bit of imposter syndrome but the military made it go into high drive.

The Medboard, everyone from my peers to my superiors and even my command telling me I was lying "you just came to milk my corps for benefits" at some point you start believing it and the doubt starts creeping in "am i?"

And thats the post, thanks for coming

If everyone flocks to cities, why can't we expand smaller cities?

Im going to use california/washington where Ive lived for years as an example,

Here in california everyone flocks to the mega city of LA, its basically a few cities bundled together to the point there's no clear boundary between them. Sacramento is one of them as well. In recent sac has been expanding quickly, alot of construction in natomas. Bay area is again one massive city. In washington theres the Seattle region which Is one massive city cluster

But if everyone flocks to cities for job opportunities and amenities why can't we just take cities who have outward room to grow and build them out?

Seems like everyone would benefit especially in the early stages no? The people moving there initially would benefit from lower rent and property values. Said property would go up in value. Land developers benefit from that. We get less people in the larger cities etc.

Same from the smaller towns into cities and so on.

Had the time of my life yesterday at work

Seems like such an ordinary thing but I have no idea why it had me dying laughing and still I keep remembering it and just start laughing

I work at costco, we're severely understaffed in the deli where I work, it was just me and I was rubbing around between the chicken room, production side. While in the chicken room people always ask us about meat and we dont know anything about meat so usually we run over to meat and ask them.

meat department is always blasting their music, they clearly can't hear when customers knock for them and they can barely hear us when we yell across the room to ask them.

This woman asks if we have any more lobster tails, I go over to meat and I ask in a raised voice if they have any. One of the guys on the other side of the room is like "WHAT?!" I ask again, borderline yelling at this point. He's like "WHAT?!

I get the hang of what's going on so i start full on yelling "DO YOU HAVE ANYMORE LOBSTER TAILS???" hes like "ASK BRAYDEN" so Brayden is across the room again. Braydens like "WHAT?"

I do the whole yelling again, he says "WHAT?" again and I yell back again. He's like NO I say THANK YOU

Keep in mind chicken room and meat department have this door in between with the windows to the outside. I go back to the chicken room and the woman who asked about the lobster tails is laughing hysterically.

I start thinking "wait she heard all that?" And i started absolutely dying just thinking about everyone listening in on our bullshiterry lmfao

What would you do with your life if you had just enough money?

Let's say you had a passive income that you COULD live on without working but you had to have a minimal life and be frugal.

Examples- no eating out, no delivery services, very minimal going out. In a nutshell, your rent, electric, heating bills, groceries, and like 500 for any other expenses are paid for.

What would you do? Keep working? Not working? If not working what would you do with your time?

And it only took 27 years

Just idk how long it took since I didnt have it at birth. Probably noticed it around 14? You do the math.

Growing up the whole family was obese. Personally I never got bullied for it but I just started hating the way I looked and felt. Just walking to the corner was hard, picking up anything, going up stairs, putting on my shoes etc. The simple things were difficult.

Started trying to lose weight around 4th grade, ironically thats when the bullying from my family members started. By 17 I was skinny fat. At 19 I started weightlifting and currently 27. I work in the public and most of the time im the most muscular guy in the room.

Around 14 maybe I started getting gynocomastia and I was always self conscious about it, one of the reasons I tried to lose weight. Even when I was lean, abs, veins all over etc. I still had noticeable fat in my chest, essentially I could be at a very low fat percent and still have fat there.

Anyway so I got it removed on Wednesday. Yay its all so swollen but even now theres a massive difference in the way shirts look. Excited asf for the swelling to go down. Bad part is having to wear this tight compression thing for 2 months during peak summer.

Ironically, the same family members who gave me shit for trying to lose weight gears back are the same who hopped on the ozempic wagon the second it came out. And they're still 250lbs even tho they've been on it for like 2 years now

Off topic too but some time back i got fitted for a motorcycle jacket, had to go up 2 sizes because my chest/shoulders/back were too wide which left the stomach part all loose. Same for the compression thing, had to size up and the stomach area is all loose. Ngl best thing Ive ever done was lose weight and start working out

Thanks for coming to my Ted talk

Any idea how to mount reps barbell mount onto rack?

I bought rep fitness' "multi use wall storage" intending to mount it on the wall but after buying it, i realized my walls have weird stud spacing and exterior walls which im not messing with.

Any ideas how I could modify it to mount it onto the rack?

I have reps old dips station and I was thinking using that, sandwhiching 2x4s and mounting it on there, putting it on the rack. That's the best idea I have but looking to see if anyone has any better ideas.

Room on rack is limited, same for the room in general
