PDF

GearMatic is a cross-character equipped-gear and durability tracker for World of Warcraft with smart upgrade detection driven by your own imported stat weights. Works on Classic Era, TBC Anniversary, Wrath, Cata, and MoP Classic out of one install.

What it does (live in v2.3.0)

Cross-character tracking

• Records all 19 equipped slots and per-slot durability for every character on your account.
• /gm opens a sortable browser of every alt: iLvl, lowest-durability percentage, last-seen, per-slot detail.
• Mouseover any of your character names in chat, friends list, guild, or /who, and the tooltip gains a one-line iLvl + low-durability summary.
• Login warning when an alt has several pieces below your durability threshold.

Smart upgrade detection from your own Pawn weights

• Paste a stat scale from wowsims.github.io with /gm import <string>. Per-character, per-spec.
• Hover any item anywhere (bag, AH, vendor, mail, loot, chat link) and the tooltip shows whether it is an upgrade for you, in percent. Optionally shows upgrades for your alts too.
• Quest reward window and loot window decorate the best choice for the current character with a gold glow and a +N% label.
• Auto-equip option (default off) sweeps your bags and equips clear upgrades, with a minimum-delta threshold so close calls never trigger.
• Falls back to an iLvl times rarity heuristic when no scale is imported, so the basic features still work.
• Armor proficiency penalty so cloth on a warrior or leather on a hunter does not score as an upgrade.
• Soft-cap halving for hit, spell-hit, and expertise so the scoring stops pushing stats you already cap.
• Heirloom bias and quest-locked-item protection so auto-equip never clobbers fishing poles or quest gear.
• Class-default weights kick in below level 10 so a fresh alt scores correctly from level 1.

On-screen gear alert

• Equip something, a banner pops with the item icon, a coloured chevron, and the score-delta percent. Green double-chevron + "Level Up" chime for an upgrade, red chevron + raid-warning sound for a downgrade.
• Sound only plays the first time you ever equip a given item on that character, so repeat swaps stay quiet.
• Banner position, font (LibSharedMedia), colours, format strings, max stacked messages, fade timing, all configurable.
• Nineteen bundled sound effects registered with LibSharedMedia LSM-aware dropdown across your UI.

Quality of life

• AceComm peer ping so you can see which guildmates and party members are running GearMatic this session via /gm peers.
• Minimap button (optional, off by default).
• In-game changelog popup.

What is coming next

The next release adds named loadouts, a Gears-style equipment-set manager built from scratch and tailored to GearMatic's existing scanner, scoring, and alert infrastructure.

• Save and switch named gear sets per character. Own-storage SavedVariables,
• LoadoutBrowser window with full CRUD, per-slot ignore checkboxes, rename, delete, export and import as a chat-safe string.
• Combat-safe multi-slot equip with bag-availability checks and partial-success reporting if an item is missing.
• Character-frame dropdown for quick switching, plus a Save-current button.
• Drag a loadout from the Browser onto an action bar. Backed by on-demand per-character macros that run /gm load <name>.
• Per-loadout keybinds registered via override-bindings so they do not pollute your saved binding profile.
• Optional per-loadout scale binding. Switching loadout activates the matching stat scale.
• AceComm peer broadcast when you swap loadouts, scoped to party / raid / guild GearMatic users with a 5-second per-sender throttle. Never sent in SAY or YELL. Toggleable in Settings.
• Spec-change suggest popup. When your talent spec changes, a non-modal popup offers to apply the loadout whose scale matches. Yes, No, or Don't-ask-again. Never auto-swaps.
• New slash commands: /gm loadouts, /gm save <name>, /gm load <name>, /gm rename <old> <new>, /gm delete <name>, /gm export <name>, /gm import <GMLO:01:...>, /gm unequip <slot>.
• Five new toggles in the Settings panel: show dropdown, suggest on spec change, alert on equip, group broadcast, peer alerts.
