Argentinian Navy A-4Q Skyhawk. Once upon a time they also had a wing embarked in the carrier ARA 25 de Mayo (ex HMS Venerable & Karel Doorman), after the carrier decommissioning they continued to operate from land bases. Their last Lockheed Martin A-4AR Fightinghawk will be retiring this month.

12-May-1960, 66 years ago. This RAF Bristol Beaufighter TT MK10, a unit converted into a target tug, performed the last flight of this type before being retired marking the end of the life of this iconic WW2 RAF multirole aircraft.

Ilyushin-IL-102, a Soviet late cold war experiment for an attack/assault aircraft. Heavily armored and with a defensive turret, individual under-wing bomb bays and 8 additional external pylons. The role was eventually taken by the Su-25 and only 1 prototype was made.

Soviet Navy AK-257, a 57 mm quad used in the Kanin-class destroyers. Clip fed, air-cooled and could only fire for short bursts before overheating. The barrels would be flushed with seawater before resuming fire. (1260x828)

It turns out the Imperial Iranian Air Force had an aerobatic display team called "Golden Crown" active 1958-79. Created at the time of the last Sha they first trained in Germany and used F-84G Thunderjets, then F-86 Sabre and finally F-5E Tigers.
