My classic Moonswatch

So much hate on MoonSwatch. I don’t get why.

SOTC — What Would You Add?

Current SOTC. Pretty eclectic mix, but I’ve ended up with watches that each get a lot of wrist time.

Looking for some honest opinions — what do you think is missing, and what would you add next? Open to suggestions outside of what I already own. If you were adding one watch to this collection, what would it be?

(The Nixon might look a little out of place compared to the rest, but it’s staying. It was the first watch my girlfriend, now wife, gave me more than a decade ago, so it has a pretty special place in the collection.)

Moonswatch— what’s not to like?

Perfect for lounging around the house because it’s so light. Throw on a rubber strap and it’s ready for hot summer days. 😎

Peter Blake

Busy morning, so I just grabbed a watch from the box without thinking much about it. Still one of those watches I never get tired of wearing. Love this thing.

Seamaster 2254.50 aka Peter Blake

I recently hit a career milestone and decided to celebrate with an Omega Seamaster 2254.50. I’d wanted one for a long time, and it has honestly exceeded my expectations.

I’ve always preferred the 2254 over most other dive watches. It’s rugged, incredibly comfortable thanks to the relatively thin case, and fits my 7” wrist perfectly. It’s become one of my most worn watches because I never have to think twice about putting it on.

One thing I really appreciate is how understated it is. It’s a recognizable watch to enthusiasts, but it doesn’t draw the same attention as some of the more obvious luxury divers. That suits me perfectly. I work hard to provide for my family, and Omega has always felt like a brand that reflects that mindset—high quality without feeling flashy or excessive.

I also prefer this generation’s Speedmaster-style bracelet over the later SMP “Bond” bracelet. The wave dial, sword hands, and clean proportions just make the whole watch feel timeless.

It’s one of those rare watches where I genuinely struggle to find anything I’d change. For me, it’s about as close to the perfect everyday diver as it gets.

Any other 2254.50 owners here? Has yours become your go-to as well?

Neo-Vintage Zenith l

I’ve been experimenting with straps for my neo-vintage Zenith, and it’s amazing how much they change the personality of the watch.

So far I’ve tried leather, mesh, and a few NATOs, but I feel like there’s still a better combination out there.

What straps do you think work best with this reference? Vintage leather? Suede? Sailcloth? Perlon? Something completely unexpected?

I’d love to see photos if you own the same model or have similar Zeniths. Always looking for inspiration before buying another strap!

Has anyone here worked at SCOR (especially the Charlotte office)?

Has anyone worked at SCOR (especially the Charlotte office)?
I recently came across an actuarial opening there and it caught my attention.

I’m a recent FSA and am particularly interested in SCOR’s global presence, especially in Asia, and whether that translates into internal transfers, international assignments, or collaboration with global teams.

For those with experience there, I’d appreciate any insights on:

  1. Charlotte office culture and work-life balance
  2. Compensation, bonus structure, and job stability
  3. Career growth and international mobility
  4. Anything you wish you knew before joining

Thanks in advance for any firsthand experiences or insights!

Carrera

My dad gave me this Carrera about two years ago. As far as I know, it had never been serviced, so I finally had it properly serviced to keep it running for the next generation.

It’s not the most expensive watch in my collection, but it’s easily one of the most meaningful. Every scratch reminds me that it had a life on my dad’s wrist before it came to mine.

The plan is simple: wear it, enjoy it, and one day pass it on to my son. Hopefully it’ll have a few more stories to tell by then.

Khaki

Tried something different with my Hamilton Khaki Field today. Went with a burgundy elastic NATO instead of the usual green or black. I wasn’t sure at first, but it’s growing on me. What do you think?

My Honest Thoughts on Japan’s Watch Market After Visiting Tokyo, Kyoto & Osaka

I’ve spent the last couple of weeks checking out the watch scene in Japan. So far I’ve visited Ueno, Shibuya, several Don Quijote stores, the Seiko Flagship in Ginza, Quark in Kyoto, and a bunch of shops around Osaka’s American Village and Dotonbori.
One thing that’s definitely true: the selection, especially for vintage pieces, is incredible. I got to try on a lot of watches I’d only ever seen online, and even some I didn’t know existed. That alone made it worth the trip.

That said, I think the “Japan is a watch bargain paradise” reputation is a little outdated. If you’re looking for a specific modern luxury watch, don’t expect huge discounts. I came hoping to pick up an IWC Mark XX at a great price, but after visiting a lot of dealers, the prices were very comparable to what I’d pay in the U.S., even after factoring in tax-free shopping. Finding a true deal takes a lot more luck than I expected.
Ironically, the only watch I ended up buying was a Casioak for my son as a gift for becoming a second grader. That was about $20 cheaper than buying it in the U.S., so at least I’m going home with something.

Overall, I don’t regret the search. The experience of seeing so many watches in person was awesome. I just wouldn’t come to Japan expecting every watch to be a bargain anymore.
Has anyone else had a similar experience, or did I just have bad luck?

Traveling to Japan / South Korea

One month in Japan & South Korea starting this weekend.

Family trip, a mix of city exploring and resort time, so I wanted a small but versatile watch roll.

The Tuna was always making the trip. The Casio handles world time duties, the Seamaster is the all-rounder, and the Ingenieur covers the “nice dinner” category.

Feeling pretty good about this four-watch lineup, but if you had to cut one, which would it be? 🤔⌚️

Watchexchange Lately

It feels like the original appeal of WatchExchange was that enthusiasts could buy and sell watches directly, avoiding the typical dealer or middleman markup. Lately, though, it seems like 8 out of 10 listings are from people sourcing watches specifically to flip them for profit.

I get it—everyone wants to make money, and that’s essentially what a middleman does. But the result is that prices get pushed higher, and the community starts to feel more like a marketplace for resellers than a forum for enthusiasts.

I find myself wishing there were a platform similar to WatchExchange that was geared exclusively toward collectors and enthusiasts looking to buy, sell, and trade from their personal collections rather than run a side business. Just a thought.
