Umarked police motorbike in Oulu
Just saw an unmarked police motorbike!
Looked like a righteous regular dude, on a big black Honda. until the blue flashy lights under the tail-light started and it took off at high speed.

Is the police office in town, at the corner of Kirkkokatu/Pakkahuoneenkatu open during the summer?
I tried finding opening hours on the Oulun poliisi website, but couldn't find anything.
When I tried to book an appointment using the online service, in the "Find your police station box", Oulu never came up and it suggested Sotkamo!
I need some documents officially witnessed. I have done it before at a police office, but not in Oulu.
Last time I asked, it hadn't happened yet...
Does anyone have any photos of this, that they wouldn't mind sharing?
My sister was there as a participant, but was not able to take any photos.
I used to do history shows myself, but that was over 25-years ago.
PROBLEM SOLVED 👍
I just received the new yhtilvastike bill for our apartment, which has my name and full address on.
_________________________
I need a formal proof of address, such as a utility bill (water, electricity, etc..) that is less than 3-months old.
Most of our bills are in my wife's name.
The only ones in my name are car and home insurance, but they are issued annually and the current ones are over three months old.
Phone bills are not accepted.
Any suggestion how and where I can get some sort of conformable proof of address?
I set up a bird/squirrel feeder outside the workshop at work.
Amongst the usual visitors, thrushes and other small birds (and squirrels, foxes and rabbits), there have been the occasional magpie and crow.
This morning, there was at least half a dozen pecking away in the area.
I had not topped up the feeders yet, so when I went out there, they all flew off, not even just to the nearby trees, but well out of sight.
The smaller birds will often let me get about two to three metres away before flying away and then they still stay close, returning after I have left.
The crows and magpies seem to be much more vary.
What is a good way to get these big birds to hang around more?
I really miss the Mule. I think it was the best one.
It mixed great with Fireball.
It is a little known, and even mentioned, fact that the Blood Angels have an 11^(th) company.
This is made up of those marines who meet, and many even exceed, the physical requirements, whose enthusiasm for battle, dedication to duty and love of the Emperor is beyond doubt. However, they are, how shall we say it nicely, not so bright.
Their numerical skills are not so hot, which is why they called themselves the 13^(th) Company - though even the Chapter Master is not sure whether this is an in-joke of the company or they really cannot count above 10. He is too afraid to ask...
The figures are from Okumarts' Grimdark Space Set One: Space Trade Alliance.
When printing straight from file, the figures are about 35 to 40 mm for me, so I printed them up at 85 % of full-size, so they are closer to the 30 to 32 mm of classic space marines.
I also made up a custom backpack, much larger than the one on the figures, as I feel it is a notable feature of GW's space marines.
Next up, I'll make up some 'Nids, using Mayhem in Paper's Chimera Hybrid figures.
Then some tiles of my own design and some solo "Not Space Hulk" games.
I have a website called "Hell's teeth and Satan's kittens!", where I hope to have the afore mentioned phrase translated in to as many different languages as possible. (link: https://alloydog.neocities.org/)
The other day, someone submitted the translation in to "Quenya". I am usually wary of "fantasy" languages, since they are often incomplete and have too many folk arguing over what is correct or not. However, I have one acid test - does it have an ISO 639 code? In this case, it does! The ISO 639-3 for Quenya is qya, so I ran with it.
For each language, I like to have a national or regional flag/symbol to go with it.
Can anyone here suggest a suitable flag for the language?
We have a security camera at my father in law's apartment. It works pretty well about 90% of the time.
He has regular care assistant visits and the company has been informed about the camera and they said it is a good idea.
However, one of the assistants complained about it and a couple of times she covered the camera. We told her to leave it and so did her manager.
Now, whenever she visits, the feed gets interrupted.
It could just be coincidence, but it rarely happens when other care assistants visits. Most when she is there.
I'm wondering if I got something like an old phone, there may be some sort of app that can detect and record if interference in the WiFi bands occurs.
Or something else.
One of my cheap little Chinese radio, a Bajeton 7800 has pretty crap harmonics - for 50 MHz, I picked up significant harmonics up to 450 MHz.
I decided to knock up either a band-pass or low-pass filter.
Scouring the web, I found a circuit for a 6-metre transverter (can't find my USB stick with the circuit on, at the mo'.) and used the final filter from that.
The two wide spaced coils are bare copper wire and the closed one is enameled.
Just now tested it.
I measured the straight TX output from the Bajeton on a range of frequencies up to 500 MHz and then re-measured with the filter in place:
It is way too lossy at 50 MHz, but seems OK-ish from 28 MHz to 30 MHz.
On my power meter, 3,7-volts equates to 2,1 W and 4,0 V to 2,4 W. So the insertion loss at 28 to 30 MHz is about 1 dB, which isn't too bad for a first attempt.
I guess I'll be playing on the FM section of 10-metres before six 🙂
We have a "bird" feeder at work. It's patronised by the local tree-dwellers.
I was videoing one time, but it picked up the radio. Kinda of works (in my feeble mind it does...)
It looks pretty old, but hasn't been removed, so should still be relevant.
If anyone here visited the Colchester Living History Festival, do you have any photos you wouldn't mind sharing?
I miss my home town and I miss re-enacting... ☹️ (yeah, yeah, sad old c**t git, I know.)
Is there a website, or two, that compares the different home internet connection/service and their prices?
Or do I really need to bounce from shop to shop and website to website?
I know they are fairly broadband, but in these cheap 'n' cheerful MW BC receivers, are the feerite-rods tuned, like a set number of turns, or does the manufacturer just just do a hundred or so turns of thin wire and say "That'll do 👍"?
I was wondering if I canabalised a couple more from old knackered radios, could I join them in series and make a better aerial?
About half an hour ago, the scheduled programme stopped and they announced that normal programming has been suspended due to the death of King Charles III. They then proceeded to play "God Save the King!".
Since there was nothing on any news service I could find, I figured someone had pushed the wrong button 😂 and I gave the head office a call.
They didn't know anything about it and told me that they don't even have a prerecorded announcement, so there isn't even a button to push.
I have a theory that the feed was hacked by a person or persons of a nefarious nature.
Anyway, Charlie is alive and well and the internet feed for Radio Caroline is back up and running 👍
When you live at 65°N and folk say "Oooh! Lucky you, 24-hour daylight" and all you want to do in the evenings is strap on your headphones and trawl the MW band for exotic stations...
As it says on the tin: "What is the best way to remove silicon sealant from tiles without damaging waterproofing layer underneath?"
In our washroom/shower room, the walls and floor are tiled. At the wall/floor junction, there is silicon sealant. It is looking old, crappy, looks like there are holes and probably a bit of black mold too.
Underneath the tiles is a waterproof layer - I think it is painted onto the walls, rather than being a solid layer such as plastic sheeting.
I want to remove and redo the silicon.
Normally, I would just get medieval with a carpet knife and dig out the old silicon, but do not want to risk damaging the waterproof layer.
Any suggestions?
