Hatred of my parents

I posted here several months ago about a fight i had with my mother. Things have gotten better but I realized through that exchange that I have alot of disdain for my parents rightly or wrongly in my life my father was very over bearing and screamed his ass off alot.

My mother had an jerk of a father and it affected the way she viewed her son's. They are both remorseful but I realized how the way they treated me affected my life. My dad shouting gave me an unhealthy avoidance of conflict, and my mother being ambivalent to us boys gave me a mistrust of women.

Legalism in the east

Has anyone encountered people with a legalistic mindset to the faith in the east? In the Roman church legalistic is pretty common, and I often here about how the east is less legalistic than the west. But I've encountered people who say you have a very to pray this way only for a priest to tell me thats wrong.

I also feel my own legalism has gotten a bit worse since I've started attending a byzantine parish. Not because of the east, but I feel like some people think you.can plug in eastern spirituality into your life and its some kind of fix for your problems, instead of how to grow in your relationship with christ. Which i feel all faiths Christian or otherwise are susceptible to.

Anglican unscripted correction

So on yesterday's episode george corrected what he said about a Catholic priest becoming episcopal. But he was saying things like" studies show most Catholic priests have homosexual inclinations " which the highest study i could find is 40%. I used to watch them a fair bit for the news but, no offense to any boo.ers out there, Kevin and George are very boomerish in the way that they view the world. Sometimes i want to ask them if they know its not 2003 with the way they talk about the iran war.

Issues with abuse crisis

As the title states, I've struggled with how to deal with the abuse crisis in my faith life. I recently came across the sunstack of msgr gene gomulka and his survivor advocacy. Now I know that responses to abuse have gotten much better, and we are more aware issues now, but it still hurts to hear stories of the hierchy stonewalling.

My diocese went through this when I was in middle school and I went to a famous church in the area, and they're would often be protesters or the news there. This was pretty traumatizing as a kid.

I also get mad when people makes statements like, most Catholic priests are gay, and other untrue statements. Has anyone else dealt with this issue?

Future of protestantism

I'm asking this in good faith, what is the future of protestantism in America? Specifically is there any chance that we could see a return to a more denominational high church expression?

Purity spiraling

Douse anyone feel like a poser for going to an eastern catholic parish. Part of me wonders if the problems I've posted about before are me looking for a perfection that doesn't exist in any parish in any o ne of the 24 catholic churches. Sometimes I wonder if I attend an eastern parish because I was angry at my experience in the west.

Episode of Anglican unscripted

In the most recent episode of Anglican unscripted george mentioned a former Roman Catholic priest who became an episcopal priest because he was tired of how all RC bishops are secretly homosexual.

I didn't catch the priests name but is this a well known figure in tec?

Trump vs Pope Leo 3 months later

What do people think of this whole episode 3 months after it happened? It's totally bizarre to me that this whole thing happened. I remember protestants taking Pope Leo being not wanting to argue with the president as him backing down from a fight. People think that its just evangelicals that idolize Trump, but man a see alot of conservative Anglicans who have this mentality too.

Late start

So i am 27m and feel that I am a late bloomer in many things in life. Faith, emotional maturity, school, and career. This is something that I ask for prayers in accepting in my life. I really struggle as to why I am just now getting my life together, and why i am just now building up confidence in myself in terms of dating and taking control of my life.

Has anyone else dealt with this insecurity? How did you come to terms with it in your faith life? Did you eventually after saud rough time in your life look back after you met your spouse or something big thing happened and see the work of the holy ghost?

Unspoken reported issues

For Protestants in this sub, what an issue you see in Protestantism that isn't talked about or goes underreported? In Catholic circles I think it would something like how alot of money comes from baby boomers who are dieing off, and after they are gone they're will be alot of funding issues.
