I'm sick of "fun zone" places forcing us to purchase their socks

My kids a while back wanted to go to Sky Zone and we had to purchase their socks at $5 each... $10 with 2 kids just on socks. We hated it so much there and don't plan on going back.. so $10 down the drain.

Later on my son got invited to a new place called Slick City and also requires the purchase of their socks at $5 each too. They even made a video saying people go with their own grip socks of other places and not allowed. They literally feel the same as Sky Zone. It was so far for us and don't plan on going back at least soon and another $10 wasted also.

Even chuck e cheese makes your wear their socks now and "free. Included with trampoline admission" but come on we know its not free, just made jump admission cost more.

I feel its such a cash grab for these places not allowing outside socks. Yes they let you reuse their socks again but if you don't go back its not worth it. It came up because my daughter now wants to go slick city with the other 2 (who will reuse their socks) and not just admission ..but get her socks as well for a place we won't be back for a while.

Hoping this works..

I've had the sweatiest armpits since I was 10 years old. I could never raise my arms in class to answer a question and dreading PE my arms being raised a bit. I remember going to the school bathroom and folding paper towels to put in my armpits... which will of course roll up and fall off eventually.

In high school I bought certain dri and it was a lifesaver but the formula now is not the same. My poor shirts get soaked and such an issue. I'm hoping this combination works to tame the beast and sweat odor.🤞certain dri is not workint on its own so need some more strength here.

Regrets on Aiden and Jayden a decade later?

Any parents regret the naming their child the whole Aiden, Jaden trend?

My son throughout the years has known multiple Aiden's, Brayden, Kaden, Jayden, Zayden, Vayden... my son asked me why they all sound similar and I told him it was a huge trend over a decade ago.

When i was pregnant with him I had 2 coworkers also pregnant and both naming their sons Aiden. I remember thinking omg this is going to be so popular in a few years. No my son isn't part of that trend and has a classic name lol.

No childcare. Will we be able to leave our kids in the waiting room nearby so my husband watch me push?

We are having our third child by the end of this month. It has been very stressful for us because we are new to the area and have no friends or family. For my second child my mom watched our son and no issues, she has passed since then and our only support.

Even if I go to the dentist I schedule evening appoinemts so he comes home to the kids and i go. All we have is eachother. My obgyn apts either my kids go with me and for ultrasounds my husband has to stay home from work so I can go alone. Luckily they are in school now.

I am choosing to be induced which will bring the baby within a 2 day time frame depending on my dilation and all. The plan is my husband will drive me there and come home with our kids.. i will be keeping him posted throughout the day and once "showtime" is approaching for him and our kids to go to the hospital and them 3 wait in the lobby until its actual time to push.. then leave them in the waiting room alone. They are 10 and 6 and with a phone to call dad if needed. They are nerds lol, in a cute way, and super calm kids who listen and get citizenship award at school.

What takes days is prep, dilation and recovery. But actual pushing my daughter was about 20 minutes.. yes i know every birth is different I know. But even let's say its way longer or an emergency c section won't take days. Only that small time frame for my husband to be there. We are ok with this and my kids dont mind. My issue is will kaiser mind and not let him in the room knowing kids are unattended a few feet away in the waiting room? We saw the waiting room it even has little chairs and kids books. I can foresee the comments saying its not their job to babysit, yup obviously we know nor want that. Just them sit there alone together for the pushing part. Then their dad will go back out immediately with them and possibly come back home and then visit me later on in recovery.

Its been tough and this is our plan for now. We are just scared they won't allow him in the room due to leaving kids sitting down nearby. The best scenario is that it happens in the morning while they are at school but we have to think of all scenarios of course. I spoke to the dr about this and she said "oh im not sure on that and all circumstances are different to the nursing team"

Being short.. with huge feet and bunions! Ugh

My feet have always been the bane of my existence. My biggest insecurity and something I've never been able to get over. I've always been embarrassed of my huge feet and how they pop out like clown shoes. Im 5'4 and a size 11 ! How did that happen!? I saw a theory that they're a sign of stumped growth, but my parents are pretty short so me being 5'4 makes perfect sense.

To top it off since second grade i developed huge bunions and tailors bunions. They're hereditary from my dad and his family. He got it from his mom and 6 of his siblings have it too. One got surgery for it 30 years ago and it came back. I remember being 7 and seeing how ugly my feet were with these bones sticking out at suck a young age.

In 5th grade my school went to a fieldtrip ice skating and we had to tell an employee our shoe size for skates. I was embarrassed i said size 10 hoping I'd fit into them. It was so hard to even try to put my foot in and tried widening as much as i could and nope. The bunions didn't help. I went back and told him I'd need a size 11. He asked me "are you sure? Are you sure you're trying them on right? I know you're not a size 11" i was literally 11 years old. I told him yes can i just have them and he did. As i grew up I'd get so jealous hearing that teens my age were size 7 or even smaller and i had these abnormal manly things as feet.

I never had the courage to get pedicures because i cant imagine putting my feet in full display like that. I only wear sneakers and never scandals, which limits my outfit choices and wear keds with summer outfits to cover my feet. Multiple times i tried to build the courage to get a pedicure, and I'd see the chairs full and know other customers will see them and I've chickened out. One time i got the courage because it was empty and I'm like this is it I'm doing it. The own nail techs were talking shit and the one doing my feet even laughed and said King Kong and mumbled in her language while holding my foot to her coworker. I couldnt believe it and i continued on my phone pretending i didnt hear it. I just wanted to leave it was so awful for me.

Being young and dating i was like i cant imagine showing my feet and had a guy that wanted me to go to a pool party with his family. Immediately my brain was like nooo my feet... exposed. I said i couldnt. It created such an issue for me and even when intimate wore socks... because i was always 'cold' thankfully i never came across a foot fetish guy that questioned it or even tried to expose them. Or i would try to hide them under a blanket. Im sure he knew my insecurity so he didnt want to prese on it. I never showered with a bf because my feet would be exposed in the water. Even covered in sneakers you can tell they were enormous, i looked like a clown with these enormous things sticking out my legs.

To top it off my mom has beautiful normal feet and i would tell her why couldn't i get your feet this sucks. My dad's sisters all have the bunions but small feet like size 7. I remember thinking why can't i have slim big feet or small wide bunion feet.. but i got both! Big and bunions! My brother is 5'9 and wears mens size 14. So idk what happened to us to have these beastly feet. Though being a man he doesn't complain like me. Years ago when skinny jeans were in it took me years to get on the trend because skinny then boom my size 11 feet was such an eyesore. It never let me feel feminine and i always felt masculine for it.

Employees are quick to complain when not tipped, but never mention it balances it out high tippers..

I always tip servers, nails, barbers.. but never the 20% starting they want. I see so much heat about if you cant afford to tip then dont go out. What i noticed always gets conveniently overlooked is the amount of people who tip over 20% and balance out the universe for you.

My husband tips excessively even after I tell him not to. So does a friend of mine. I went out to breakfast and an old man by himself ordered a senior breakfast of toast and eggs and a coffee. He left $20 tip on table and left. You guys never complain about that huh? But quick to jump and get heated when its below what you were expecting. Some tip less and some tip more, which is the reason servers dont want to abolish tips for a higher wage. There's always suckers out there tipping 25% and more that you guys dont want to bring up. Just sob stories of someone who left $5 on a table of 5 bill always gets brought up.

Failed 1 hour at 193

I failed my 3rd trimester 1 hour glucose screening with a 193. It's so high and got a message today from my dr to take the 3 hour. 193 is just so high and idk if to take the dreadful test or just talk to my doctor and throw the towel in and just assume I gave GD and start the next step.

Background: I also failed my 1st trimester 1 hour screening but with a way lower number of 172.. and went on to pass the 3 hour with flying colors, not even borderline.

I've gained lots of weight since the first test 4 months ago so I'm not feeling optimistic about doing the 3 hour. The lab is very far away from my home and it takes an hour just to get the drink.. the first test i was there a total of 4 hours. It's just so draining so idk if to retest or just continue with GD diagnosis.

Embarrassed to say it's a boy...

I'm currently pregnant with a boy and im just upset with the negative and pity reactions that come with it.

"Aww its ok! Just keep trying!"

"Oh I could tell its a boy because you looked down before you said it"

Its upsetting that I'm not getting the congrats! And thrills that come with announcing a girl. It's such different energy. I feel like i got everyone's second pick and the keep trying pep talk. It doesnt help on social media so many videos bashing boy clothes and 'life with her ✨️' social media loves to put little boys down and their 'ugly clothes' and boy mom vs girl mom. Im just happy to have a baby.

My own friend was discouraged and has expressed she's scared to get pregnant for fears of it being a boy.

I just feel demotivated that boys are seen as an aww its ok.. well congrats. VS the genuine happiness that girls bring.

"Do you want your change back?"

I'm so tired of this phrase. Give me my money back and I'll decide to give it all to you, part to you or just keep it to myself. Its my decision.

I dont mean like Panda Express that donates it.. though I still say no if it's close to a dollar.

I mean when servers say it. why would you keep $42 just like that? I'd be 73% tip. (42 change from a $100 bill) Froyo shop and I lost it when an ice cream truck told me this. Total was $8, handed him a 10 and asked if I wanted it back. Yes of course. Even if I was planning to tip, which I wasn't, that was so annoying that its an automatic no.

Im so annoyed with that phrase and similar versions. Hand it to me 🫴, it's mine and I get to decide if I give you some. I'm not sure if its an intentional pressure tactic or what.

Why unavailable?

I want the coffee and it has been marked unavailable for a month on my app. The employee said they have it and their system is updated and shows available. She then checked the location and it's correct. She told me uninstall the app and I did and still grayed out. You guys know why? The employee showed me her phone and it was phone and its available.

Server tip out

I went to a sit down with my kids and i always tip, not a lot but tip.

A few minutes before we leave i ordered 4 to go plates for the rest of my family. They bring over all the to-go bags and all good. The bill reflects the tip based on ALL the food, not just the sit down party. I customized it to reflect only the sit down part.

My question is not should I tip for take out because I'm not. My question is do the servers have to tip out their runners and help for this since its going to the table instead of a car? Its so crazy I got 20% prompt for just take out, which was no lol.

What was your "that's it!" moment?

What was your moment that it finally clicked that you were done tipping? Enough is enough.

Mine was when I was dining out with my kids and they both wanted ice cream shakes for desert. (those 1950s looking ones) I told them no because then i also have to tip more. "It's not just the shakes, but on top I got to pay like $3 more in tip just for getting you guys these. I have to pay a percent to our server for these. So no" I realized I didn't mind getting them extra food, but the issue was adding the additional tip in my head and had a crash out. I ordered them and didn't tip more for them, and yes she got upset at the low tip.

I realized I was seeing prices like $15 is actually $18 and $20 is actually $24 with tip. Due to that I withheld from ordering too much food due to tipping. I had the great awakening to screw that and just stop doing it.

When I have to worry about ordering low price items or go without items to reflect the tip is when I knew i was done.

When visiting abroad

My aunt recently came back from El Salavador and was telling me how grateful they are for tips over there. She ordered food delivery and he arrived in motorcycle. She gave him a $5 tip and they were beyond grateful 🙏 and couldn't stop thanking her. She finally had to cut him off from his gratitude speech to go inside. That she came inside baffled by his appreciation monolgoue and her family told her people there dont tip. She said she knew that but couldn't imagine someone delivering to her and not tipping, so she did anyways. In America they'd just grap it and mumble "thanks" and get on their way. Its expected.

She treated her family to a restaurant and also left a tip and her family told her to take it back because shes the only one who does that.. well Americans. She still said no, it's fine and it's $10.

She then expressed the expectations that American servers expect and they were shocked. Why would you give a whopping 20% to someone already paid to do their job? We live in a minimum wage state so servers make minimum $19 an hour. The server was also beyond grateful and thanked her again while leaving. Shes like I wonder how long its been since another foreigner came here. Yes the standard of living over there is different. But they dont even tip to scale 20% or even 10% the total bill over there.

Its insane to me how Americans in the service industry are just so desensitized to tips and see it as something they're entitled to. I barely tip in America, if at all, unless I see someone working their ass off. Just to hand me a beer at a bar? No. Hand me something from a window when I drove to you? No. In other countries they either get offended or baffled in gratitude. Come here to the USA and its like "just $5 tip? 🙄"

I feel some servers work so hard, others restaurants not so much

We tend to dine out a lot and noticed how depending on the restaurant they work the servers to the bone... I have a small mom and pop cafe by my house. She's in charge of taking our orders, making salads, pouring soups, making my kids chocolate milks, and she's also the busser. Shes alone there with 2 cooks. She actually deserves a tip. Between all that work she also has to answer the phone and take phone orders and pack the food. Same for olive garden I do see them work a lot and constantly refilling unlimited soup and breadsticks, though have bussers.

I go to Chilis and I only see the server to take my order and that's it. The food comes out by a food runner, who then asks what else we need like ranch then brings it out, they also have bus boys and an entire team there. Its absurd they request the same tip percentage as a restaurant who doesnt offer their servers that much support. Yes I know they tip out their help, but they still keep most of it and can take on more tables due to so much support. They want to collect a 20% tip for essentially just taking our initial order and pawning it all to someone else. We go to cheesecake factory and same with runners brining our food and beer. Our kids chocolate milks were taking forever so we ask our server what is taking so long and she says she's not allowed to make chocolate milk and the person who does is on break.. what? That they're not allowed to make a drink. I dont agree or disagree with that. My question is these people want the same tips as servers being worked to the bone.

I guess its more of a rant than a question of observations I see.

We recently had a party for my child at an arcade. Prior to booking we looked into other places. Skyzone, slick city, bounce house place and dave and busters and all of them had a 2 hour booking. Thats not just play time but also table time eating, opening gifts and cake. Like 2 hours for play and dine and gifts is nothing. Ideally 3 hours would be nice and im shocked nobody offers this as a standard. Once we were there we asked to extend and we were allowed an en extra hour. But if we didn't extend I'd be over waay too quick.

We recently went to sky zone for a birthday and everything was soo rushed. It was hard for the mom to wrangle the kids in and she was stressed since the table time was almost up and cake and gifts hadn't been done yet. The kids in total only played 1 hour due to eating and other table stuff.

I know some of you will name examples that are not 2 hours but overall that's the standard and I have no idea why its so short. Last year we did a house party because I couldnt imagine doing anything in such short time. 2 hours of play and 1 hour of table just makes more sense.

We have a baby boy due soon and we love the name Astro. It sounds futuristic and the intergalactic feel. Reminds me of the 2000s silver craze.

I dont like the alternative like Cosmo and Orion etc.. Just Astro.

But it's obviously pretty different and we are nervous of backlash or a chuckle here and there. We are not just naming a baby but a grown man that will age into his 90s. What are your guys thoughts?

Any of you have an apple watch for your kids while owning an android yourself?

Me and my husband have had androids for like 20 years and no plans on switching. We also have an ipad and my child has his own ipad. We are hoping with that we can help set an apple watch for a child?

Even if we can set it, how will the child's location be shared on our phones? My child is a different generation who only wants Apple and we are ok with that. We are just trying to bridge the gap on what to do here.

Feel free to talk to me like im 5, im staring from zero here trying to figure it out.

We were considering dining at Goofy's Kitchen at Downtown Disney. They have a mandated 18% tip when it's a buffet and there is no service. "Want ketchup? Cool the condiment station is right over there 👈"

18% of what we'd be spending there is $39.. for someone we don't even see. Thanks to this we are no longer going there.

I know I'm gonna get Disney shaming comments and how rich that Mouse is. I dont care about that. My issue is why force a tip at a buffet. Plaza Inn, the buffet character dining at the park, used to also have mandated tip until they got rid of it around October of last year. It's upsetting that we have to look up automatic gratuities now when considering buffets now.
