Exactly how reliable is PAC?

So for a PDF, does everything have to pass in PAC before you can consider the PDF remediated? A lot of times when I remediate a PDF and upload to PAC. It still has a lot of red flags on PAC, so I always thought I didn’t fully remediate it. However, I came across these PDF remediation tutorials from Digital Accessibility Specialists at University of Wichita, so I decided to upload their fully remediated PDFs to PAC and it still had substantial errors there. So, I’m wondering, how exactly does PAC work? Is it reliable or is this a false positive thing? How do we know when it’s either of the two? For reference, these are the docs from Wichita so you can see for yourselves: https://www.wichita.edu/services/mrc/Web\_Services/pdf\_remediation.php#advanced

I don’t understand NVDA

Every time I use NVDA to read a document, it always abruptly stops in the middle from time to time. I set it to Say All and after reading two sentences, it just stops randomly, and I have to continue it then it moves a little and stops randomly again. This happens on remediated documents btw. I’m not sure if this is an NVDA problem, but I don’t use any other screen reader because this is the only free one for PC. Is this just normal NVDA behavior?

I’m in a wheelchair and looking for an apartment in Baltimore

I’m moving to Baltimore for a job at UMB. Currently, I have a roll-in shower and grab bars, so I am pretty much independent as I can transfer myself.

I can't find an apartment like that in MD. I am really trying to stay independent.

I work, so I don't need low-income housing. Does anyone know where I can look for a place to live?

Wheelchair-Accessible Apartments in Baltimore?

I’m moving to Baltimore in the next few weeks for a job at UMB, but I use a wheelchair and need an accessible apartment. Any pointers? How do I go about this?

Thank you.

Screenreader Performance on PDF

So, I recently received a project to remediate a Word and PDF file.

After remediating the PDF, I used NVDA screen reader, but when reading by clicking line by line, it would stop reading at different points. However, if I choose to click from the top and just read the entire document all at once, it works fine.

I checked everything and couldn’t figure out how to solve this. Anyone has an idea? Is this something unique to NVDA or the document itself?

I finished college in Dec 2024 and still can’t get a job. What should I do?

I’ve tried everything from vocational rehab, tailoring my resume to each application, attending career fairs, etc. I still haven’t gotten a position. I graduated with an Information Systems degree and live in Los Angeles, CA. Any advice? The few interviews I got led to a rejection.

How Can I Break Into Call Center/Customer Service Work?

I’m interested in getting into call center/customer service work and would appreciate some guidance from people already in the industry.
I’m completely new to the call center field and am trying to understand the best path into an entry-level role.
For those who started without prior call center experience:
What types of companies are most likely to hire beginners?
What skills should I highlight on my resume?
Are there specific job titles I should search for besides “Call Center Representative”?
Are there any industries or staffing agencies that are known for hiring and training entry-level candidates?
Any advice on breaking into the field, tailoring my resume, or avoiding common mistakes would be greatly appreciated.

Passport Renewal Contactless Biometric

So I’m trying to renewal my international passport from home in the US. I’m at the biometric stage and the face verification is completed but I’m having problems with the finger verification. No matter what I do, it just says timeout. I put the four left fingers within the frame and the frame actually turns green, yet it doesn’t capture just times out. Any tricks I’m missing?

Has anyone from the 39 banned countries got their EAD?

If you’re from one of the 39 banned countries and graduated in Dec 2025 or May 2026, have you received your EAD for OPT? Also, for those applying for STEM OPT since last December. If not, what are you doing to maintain your status?
