Does this look like a carbuncle? Or just scarred up cystic acne?

I get (what I believe to be) cystic acne pretty bad. This thing cropped up probably a few months ago. Unfortunately I also have a picking problem, but am trying to get it under control. It was a hard lump that hurt but Ive dried it out with some cystic acne rollerball stuff. Now it's dried out, but looks like this. Does cystic acne have a head, or did I just make this worse by fussing with it? I know part of its scarring, but it seems like this thing is always got weird stuff going on with it. Should I see a doctor? Thanks for any consideration of it!

Starting natural nail journey again. Any advice?

Ive been using Glamnetics basically all year and want to grow my nails healthier, and natural. Any recommendations? Here they are after glamnetic removal, buff and shine + cuticle remover liquid. Topped with oil.

EMDR is helping, but holy crap it's difficult [Hyperaroused]

I've been focusing on CPTSD from an unstable, unsafe home and a narcissistic void of a mother during my sessions. A specific memory that memorialized who my Mother was. I am saying truths I've known but never vocalized, and saying them out loud is just so fucking sad. The flurry of guilt, shame, sadness, fear are all so vivid to remember. And realizing that as a child I LIVED in that fear, the secrecy, solitude and longing... I wouldn't wish that on anyone, though I've spent a good portion of my life believing I deserved it.

But, I am developing empathy and care for that little girl who endured all of that. & am able to recognize that anger is a secondary emotion - I've been angry because it's easier than being hurt all of the time. It's complicated, now. I'm still hurt and heartbroken. I'm still angry but not seething, or being destructive. I'm mourning what could have been if someone had cared for me, AND am thankful that I can care, and be cared for as an adult.

I'm still excavating the gunk, as my therapist says, and the insights continue to come. I guess I'm posting this because the truth is liberating, and maybe someone can glean some hope or comfort from reading it. I appreciate this community sharing their journeys one brave step at a time.

Last time I got braids I got really bad folliculitis - was it just the braider?

Over the past few summers I like to get my hair braided and I've had it done 4 or 5 times. I've basically gone to a new braider each time. Last time I had a really bad folliculitis breakout - it was dreadful. I tried medicated shampoo, tea tree oils, rosemary oils, dry shampoo; nothing seemed to help. So I took the braids out after a month or so. It left me with some very small bald spots around my hairline. :(

I worry about getting braids again because of this, but I'm at the point in the year where I always think "Shave it all off, or braid it?".

Is it a "me" problem, maybe my hair just doesn't do well with the tension? Or was it a braider problem and a different braider may be the right course? What would you do?

Pictures are of the braids I've spotted with the most recent set first.

Updates to my haunted mansion + some fun pics of the process. Getting ready to do some fun floors upstairs!

I've been working on this house on and off for a few years, but this last year I've really made a ton of progress. It's been my greatest joy! I'm almost done with the interior and then I'm going to revisit the exterior. So much fun.

Is it normal to have to push my scripts through every month?

I take a controlled substance for binge eating disorder. Every month I have to request it, and every 3 months I have to have an appointment to validate it. Each month, I request it 1 week in advance. Each month, I find out that there's been a "system error" which prevented my script from being sent. I have to call the pharmacy to see if it's in, and then call the provider (who doesn't have a direct line for some reason) and see if my prescription *actually* got renewed. Then it's an urgent request to my provider to push it through. At least 5 times, I've had multi day gaps in having my medication. I want to know: is this normal for controlled substances? Should I just expect this to be the process?

Thanks for the insights!

I started picking at my skin in my early tee

ns and have always struggled with it. Now I'm in my 30s trying to prove to myself that I can be consistent and feel good about my bare face. I see some improvements, but is it just wishful thinking?
