How to rename premium period savings accounts??

I can only find a way to rename the main account not the smaller ones inside it... as a friend said... "Open as many savings accounts as you want!! Then have fun remembering what the goal for each account was." - Your Friends at Scotiabank

Does anyone know if there is a hidden way to do it?

My first listing! "Constricted" <3

Hi!
I made this cutie with a mix of markers, color pencils, and pens. The original is sold, so I made a limited-edition print, and it's my first-ever eBay listing. They're all printed and hand-signed by me.
I'll be listing originals soon, but I decided to start with this print because this artwork is very sentimental to me <3 Hope you like it!

Thoughts about signing the front or watermarks?

Hi everyone! I’m excited as I’m finally close to launching my first ACEOs, this one I will launch as a print because I want to keep the original so I’m using it for some tests.
I’m wondering if I should sign the front with my tiny logo (right) or not (left). The back is signed either way with the medium info.
I’m a bit concerned with people and AI stealing/sharing my art without credits, I have seen so many horror stories online these days. I know the signature is easy to remove, but at least removing it shows ill intent.
My question is…Do people who like buying and collecting ACEOs care if it’s signed at the front? Many artworks are usually signed at the front but I get that due to the small size this isn’t common with ACEOs…
If not signing the front, I know I can always add watermarks when I post the images online but it is a lot of extra work in exchange to almost no protection, so I wanted to avoid that route if possible…but like I said at least having a signature or watermark shows ill intent if you find a copy without it somewhere else…
Thanks for your thoughts :D

Matte varnish spray for paper?

Hi everyone! I was trying to stamp my initials on the back of my art, the ones that are photo paper specifically are terrible for that as the back of those papers don’t absorb the ink well and it smudges A LOT… I’ll change signing strategies moving forward but just so I can save the ones I already stamped, could you guys recommend a good matte varnish spray?
Most I see recommended on reddit are for acrylics and miniatures so I’m not sure if those would work well on paper. Appreciate any tips, thank you!

After 22 years, I'm finally abandoning Adobe

My first contact with a Design tool was a pirated Photoshop CD my dad bought at a street market in Rio (where I'm from), which was my 11th birthday gift lol. I learned to use it all by myself to make Blog templates and sell them to friends. Later on, I went to industrial design uni and have been using Adobe products since then, both for personal projects and for work.

Their red flags have been showing up for years, but it took me a while to accept it. The company I work for still uses it, but I'd like to learn Affinity and start using it for all my personal and side hustle projects and hopefully be able to ditch Adobe completely in the near future.

Not sure where to start, honestly, it feels like losing a friend to see Adobe turn into what it is today. Anyway, I was sent here, and I appreciate any tips from other people who made the switch, any good YT channels you recommend, etc. ❤️ thank u!

[Marketing] Fine art x Giclee ?

Hi everyone,
I'll finally start selling prints of my work soon. I'm printing on high-quality photo paper (Canon Photo Paper Pro Premium Matte) with a Canon Pixma Pro-200s, which is dye-based ink.
I've read that if it's not pigment ink, it's not considered Giclee as it doesn't have archival durability. But is it still considered fine art? Or is fine art and giglee the same thing? If so how do you market/name a high quality print that is dye ink?

I have found mixed opinions on this online and would like to hear from the community. I just want to be able to market my products in a way that is not misleading but also don't want to fail to communicate I'm using high-quality materials, etc. It might not be pigment based, but it's also not a cheap print. I appreciate your thoughts on this!

Thanks!

[BC] Right order of steps to opening a small business?

Hi everyone,

I’ve been trying to open a business account in preparation for launching my small art business.

I don’t have any products up for sale yet, I have a website and an instagram account on stand by, while I’m working on my first launch.

I thought I should have the business account open to have all the business income go to that one place and not get mixed up with my personal finances, however, I tried opening a business account with Venn and they said they won’t approve it until my business has more online presence. So now I’m genuinely won how do people usually start??? Do you just use your personal bank account at first?

I’m definitely an over-thinker and have been postponing this launch because I want to have everything correctly set up before starting but it seems I can’t? I just have to start all messy and then open a proper business acc? Haha sorry if this is a stupid question but I never did any of this before and I’m super scared of doing it wrong and having issues with taxes next year.

thanks!

[BC] need advice. trying to open my small business bank acc that works for me

Hello!
I have registered my small business name and number back in 2022 but to many life circumstances I did not start acting on the business at that time. I am finally ready to start, bought tools and materials, set up my website (just a coming soon landing oage for now), instagram handle secured, and opened a small business account on BMO.
First I was disappointed to learn their small business account isn’t free anymore it’s $5 monthly but after reading about my options I decided to open it anyway. I also applied for a credit card with them and was waiting on it before buying a printer and some more expensive tools as I would like to keep all my business expenses and income together and separate from personal so taxes are easier next year.
BMO just called me saying they wont open a credit card for my business because the business exists for more than 2y with no income. :(
I guess I can use one of my personal credit cards for the business and just keep track of it on my budgeting spreadsheet like I already do.
However I’m honestly seeing no benefit to continuing with BMO, if I just need a place to receive money, and wont have a credit card anways,
should I change to something like Venn? Or do you guys recommend anything else? I’m a bit annoyed to pay BMOs monthly fee when the most basic thing they cant give me..

I appreciate all advice!

Printer settings or Screen’s fault?

Hi!
I’m an artist/designer trying to turn my artwork into art prints at home. I finally bit the bullet and got my dream printer (Canon Pixma Pro-200s) as it was on a huge sale and the previous one I bought I had to return as it wasn’t a good fit for my needs.

I’ve watched countless YT videos to set it up the right way, and I’m printing straight from photoshop, so I’m using the right ICC profile for the paper I chose (Canon Pro Lustre) and Photoshop is managing the colors, etc.

The result is waaaay better than my first few tests, but still a bit dark. I can’t afford one of those color calibration tools now, they’re so expensive…and maybe overkill? I’m working directly from my macbook pro, and I’ve changed the screen color profile to Display P3, removed auto brightness and true tone, is there anything else I can do?

Or is the dark/less saturated print tone still something I’m missing in the print settings? At this point I don’t know if I should post this in a photoshoot sub or a macbook sub haha, but I posted here before so hopefully this is ok.
Thanks!

PS: The one on the right is the original I painted by hand, and then scanned with a Epson Perfection V39II. The scan looks perfect on my screen but the print is still a bit too dark. Is this as close as I can get maybe?

Embedding micro magnets into print! Layer thickness suggestions?

Hello! Im using really tiny magnets 3x1mm, which I will print in place at the bottom of a piece. Do you guys think it would work with a single 0.4mm layer over them? I'm using a 0.4mm nozzle and I really didn't want to buy a new nozzle just for this project but maybe it's finally time haha
Asking because all posts I found about it are referring to bigger magnets, so not sure how that translates to this smaller size. Thank you!

Sketch of a vintage flower light bulb

I added a bit of acrylic marker in the end, for the light effect and regretted it haha, oh well... Will try other methods next time. How do y'all represent light with alcohol markers? :)

Canon Pixma G620 + MacOS, what's your workflow for printer settings?

I just got this printer, and I'm new to this. Please be kind. I'm an artist trying to set things up to print Art Prints at home for the first time.
I chose this printer because I can't afford a pixma PRO now, and for the possibility of saving $ with ink due to the tank, I did a lot of research before buying, but apparently not enough...

I was having issues following youtube tutorials for printer settings and ICC profiles, and finally figured out it's cuz I'm using MacOS...

  • On macOS, the Canon PIXMA G620 defaults to Apple’s AirPrint system instead of a full Canon printer driver (no driver for MacOS for this printer)
  • AirPrint removes a lot of advanced print controls, including the traditional Canon ICC/profile management options photographers usually expect.

It's frustrating because the G620 is actually a very good photo printer for the price, but I only have one computer and it's apple. So what now? How do you guys do it?

PS: I'm printing directly from within Photoshop where I'm adjusting my scanned artwork for printing.

Canon Pixma G620

Hi everyone!
I finally got a nicer printer to print some art prints soon. I’m using this thank you card thing I painted by hand + added copy on top on illustrator, as my first test… and OMG it’s so dark and dull haha

I’m used to exporting high quality CMYK PDF from Illustrator, I do it often at work, so I think the issue is the print settings probably? I saw people here recommending to play with saturation and brightness but where exactly do you change those settings? I only found those pre existing paper presets, chose matte photo paper, and set it to “best” quality.

Also the artwork is much bigger thank it should be even though I chose the right paper size. Any tips to avoid that as well?

Im printing from the Adobe acrobat PDF viewer with a macbook. Should I print straight from Illustrator, or what am I missing? Sorry Im new with printing at home!

Thank you!!

[Recommendations] I am SO STUCK. How did you start? I have too many ideas and not enough courage

Hi guys!

I’m a designer with a 9-5 job I really love but quite restricted creatively. I’ve always dreamed about having my own business even if just a small side hustle to begin with.

I am finally in a place where I’m blessed with some space to make art (a small office at home) and enough budget to get things started but not enough budget to get EVERYTHING started at once lol, so I’m trying to find something to focus on but this has been dragging for almost 2y! I even read the Artist Way book and it helped me a lot but not to the point where I start my online shop which is the goal.

There’s so much I could be doing, art prints, stickers, 3D printed goodies, paintings, pet portraits, I love exploring new skills and that led to me having lots of interest but I don’t feel I’m good enough at any of them to call it MY THING you know? But if I don’t start somewhere, I never will…

I’m thinking maybe art prints since I can paint and and sell the prints more easily but… that means buying a $300-400 printer with scanner so I’m scared AF of failing.

I could also focus on my actual painting and selling originals but that involves shipping bigger things and that is also scary and also I don’t know anyone would buy my originals as I never tried haha.

I’m lost… I just feel like I have this huge opportunity to make a bit extra income but Im so stuck :((

How did you start your online shop?

Starting an art business, which ink tank printer to choose? (Canada)

Hi guys! I’m an artist and want to start selling my own prints instead of using a third party. I’m in Canada, and I’ve saved around $500 CAD for a printer.

At first I looked into pigment ink printers, but they seem a bit overkill for a beginner, (and eventually want to make stickers too and they seems to not work well for glossy stickers), still hoping for a tank printer so I can save on ink.

A scanner would be great too since most of my art is handmade and I don’t have a professional camera. I could buy a separate scanner like the epson perfection v39 II if needed they’re about $150 here.

I’m considering the Canon Pixma G620 because it’s only around $350 here and seems to fit what I need, but I’m confused why it’s so much cheaper than similar Epson EcoTanks like the Epson EcoTank ET-8550. Is the print quality or color accuracy noticeably worse? Or the scanner quality?

I’d like to stay around $500 CAD total, but I can stretch a bit for something that would be a great long-term investment.

Would really appreciate recommendations from any art print experience. Thank you!
