Can I teach with my degree?

I'm pursuing a BSc in Environmental Science right now, and I'm considering K-12 teaching as a potential career path. I live in Florida, and there's no real demand for HS APES teachers in my area. The program is abundant with biology/ecology-related coursework--would that be enough to teach subjects like Bio or more generalized Earth/Life Sciences?

My school doesn't have a geology program

I'm getting a BS in environmental science but im considering switching to geology for the career opportunities. Unfortunately, my university doesn't have a geology program. I could add on a minor in geosciences (already minoring in GIS). Is that enough for entry level jobs? Should I suck it up and transfer schools? Is this even worth transferring over?

Undergrad recommendations?

I'm pursuing a BSc in ES and minoring in GIS, along with some volunteering and planning on doing internships, to try and make my degree as marketable as possible after I graduate. It's a pretty blunt question, but is there anything else you guys would recommend to stand out in this job market?

Torn between two completely different majors

I've been in college undeclared, but I need to finally pick my major and I'm torn between two completely different paths. I'm passionate about both. The specific majors I'm torn between are Environmental Science and Game Design. I live in a good area for finding work in both and I go to one of the best schools in the U.S. for Game Design. Despite how different they are, I could really see myself living a fulfilling and happy life in either, which is why choosing one is such a challenge. If anyone's had to make a difficult major decision like this, please share how you made your choice, thank you! :)

Environmental Science or Game Design?

I'm picking a college major rn. I'm pretty passionate about both, environmental science seems a bit safer but my school has one of the best game design programs in my country, with plenty of networking opportunities.

How are UCF's environmental science and game design programs?

I've been undeclared for a while now, but I have to declare a major and I'm torn between Environmental Science and Game Design. If anyone has experience with either of these, whether you're currently a student, graduated, know people in them, etc., please share your experiences, job outlook, etc. ty! :)

How do people live off of retail jobs?

I see a lot of grown adult adults in my area working retail jobs and shoutout to them for getting that bag but how do they live off of those jobs? Living with others (parents/roommates/spouse)? Living extremely frugally? I'm curious because it kinda seems like a chill life that I wouldn't entirely mind lol

Playing outside

I was born in 2004, so I’m blanking on a lot of the 2000s but my clear/non-scattered memories start around 2006-07, I can remember everything from that point forward vividly. That said, I played outside very often in those early years and so did every other kid in my neighborhood. But I noticed a shift around 2013 (notably when technology was really becoming all-encompassing) where that just happened less and kept continuously happening less. From that point forward, I still played outside with a few kids but not nearly as much as before. Post-2013, the only time I played outside with a ton of kids like that was at recess at school.

Kids still definitely play outside, I see it pretty often in my neighborhood. But instead of multiple groups of like 10 kids, it’s more like a single group of 3-5 kids. I remember growing up it was quite literally every kid in my neighborhood. Were we really the last to get that peak outside experience? Did the younger ones of us even get it? Did most of us only get that experience from school? It makes me sad to think about so I wanna believe that my experience was sort of just a ‘my area’ thing lol

An excuse to yap about your major

I've been doubting my major lately and wanna get a better idea of what's out there. There's so much that I wanna look into, but I wanna ask actual students too. So in the replies, feel free to share your major, why you picked it, what you do and don't like about it, all that kinda stuff. Thanks :)

Does my story sound like a JJK clone?

I'm working on a shonen-inspired comic and I'm worried the premise sounds a little bit too JJK-ish (plot setup is fairly standard shonen stuff, but becomes concerning when the words 'curse' and 'sorcerer' are used together). Here's a quick one-sentence pitch so you can get a feel.

"Bound by an ancient death curse, two rival boys are inducted into the Angels, an elite order of sorcerers, and must learn to trust each other as they race against time to break their curse."

Does it seem like an issue? Or not a big deal? Thought it would be helpful to get outside opinions, thanks!

Unusual majors that will lead to a career

When it comes to picking a college major, everyone gets the advice to choose something obvious and practical like nursing, engineering, finance, etc.

What if somebody hears those and goes "I don't wanna do any of those"?

There are other options out there; people who major in things like journalism or environmental science can still find work in their fields, it's just more competitive. Or you get cases like architecture, where there is a clear employment pipeline but it requires a lot of schooling.

What are some other degrees that are employable, even if not as directly as the typically advised ones? And how do people who major in them find employment?

How is 2007 middle gen z

No hate to 07ers. I’m a 2004 and I’ve always kinda imagined middle gen z as anyone in high school when Covid hit (01-05). Not for some weird “exclusive club” reason, I just think it’s a good landmark experience and I do also genuinely think people in that group had a different childhood/growing up experience from those before and after, from my experience with all gen z age ranges. Again nothing wrong with being younger, just curious how this was decided and wanted to start a discussion about it

Marketing degree is useless but I don't wanna do anything else

In college, got my business pre-reqs, can choose any business major to specialize in from this point forward. Considering accounting for the safe choice but watching paint dry sounds more enjoyable than doing that for 40+ years. Always been more into the creative/arts/humanities side of things, so I'm strongly considering majoring in marketing with a graphic design minor. I know a lot of people advise against a marketing degree but I don't really care for anything else. Thoughts, advice, recommendations? Anything is appreciated, thanks!!
