Transmission Fluid Change - Mazda doesn't actually change filters?

I called my local Mazda service center to ask about transmission fluid costs. They said they only do fluid changes, and don't change the filters. Are mazda's transmission filters really meant to be life-long?

I have a 2019 CX-5 with 54,000 miles. Gonna do a transmission fluid change, but was wondering if the filter also needs to be changed while I'm at it (the filter change is substantially more work than just the fluid change, so I didn't want to touch it if not necessary). Thanks

Flair 49 Pro vs 58+2: is the heating element really worth it?

Considering a 49 Pro vs 58+2. I only drink espresso once a week. Is the heating element on the 58+2 really worth double the cost of a 49 Pro? Or can I get equal results just by preheating the 49 with hot water a couple of times before pulling the shot?

Which oil level to go by? Dip stick hard to read

Mazda CX-5, 2019 Touring (2.5L Naturally Aspirated). I did my first oil change, and no oil is leaking underneath the car after a few days. However, i’m still struggling to read the dip stick on this car. The manual says it takes 4.8qt, and i put an entire 5qt jug in.

On one side, dip stick shows half full, but on the other side, it looks completely full, with little dry splotches. I tried testing with cold engine, as well as after 5min and 10min post engine start/turn off.

How to read oil stick? Oil not sticking

Mazda CX-5, 2019 Touring (2.5L Naturally Aspirated). I did my first oil change and i want to make sure i didnt overfill it. I had the car running for 20 min while i took it for a spin, let it sit for 10 min, and checked. But the engine oil either doesn’t stick at all, it is splotchy, or it goes all the way to the top of the twist. I am wiping with a paper towel between each dab.

How so i get an accurate reading? On my other cars, it was very clear.

Do i need new trailing arms?

2019 Mazda cx-5 awd, under 60,000 miles. I went in to ask if i need an alignment (supposed to be $99) but was told i need to replace the entire trailing arms (both sides). Not just the bushings, but the entire metal arms as well, which would be $1200-1400.

I had visited 3 other mechanics in the past 2 weeks for various other repairs, but none of them mentioned this issue, so wondering how serious this is. Thanks for your advice!

New lab doesn't provide work computers or softwares?

Just started a new postdoc but I was surprised to learn that the lab and institute doesn't provide access to softwares (Illustrator, Prism, etc) nor work computers...I could understand up to the computer part, but I never heard of a serious research lab not providing access to core softwares...

I asked the other postdocs and most either purchase their own software subscriptions or leach off of their previous institutes/friends.

Any work around for this situation? thanks

What price range for a CRV or Rav4? 10-15 years old

Located in USA. Scanning for used car. CRV, Rav4, maybe CX-5. I need something reliable that won’t cause a headache with repairs/maintenance. Hoping to use it 4-5 years and either resell, or maybe take it with me across the country on my next move if it’ll survive that.

Should i be looking around 150,000 miles for 10-12 years old car? Is $12,000-15,000 a reasonable price range? Trying to figure out which age, miles, and price factors to consider.

First time car buying in America so thank you in advance.

Who has the best 16234 fluted bezel?

Currently using Raffles 16234 fluted bezel (silver color). Are there any better upgrades without paying hundreds?

Deep vs Clean Crystal: Explorer 36

Deep vs Clean crystal. Been delaying this for awhile, but highly recommend.

Deep has less of a bezel, reducing ring effect around the inner edges. Imo, the Deep has less glare and is more clear than clean stock. The Clean is darker

How much is utilities in Boston/Watertown?

Looking for an apartment, but was quoted utilities are $150-200 a month per person (electric, gas, internet). For a 2br shared by 2 people. Seems a bit high but I’ve never lived in Boston so curious if this is about average. Thank you

BP 16610 case & bracelet

Used BP 16610LN Case and bracelet. The case has been reshaped to reduce lug thickness and slight thinning of the crown guards. Please check and see if the profile is to your liking. Case is used, so there are light scratches, including marks on the back of the lugs where spring bars were changed. Bracelet is brushed but also has minor scuff marks, which can be rebrushed out using scotch brush.

Case has stock BP crystal, 3135 movement mount ring, and stock crown. Original gaskets still in place. No movement tabs/screws. Bracelet has original BP spring bars.

The BP set has been laying around and i have no use for it, but would be a waste to throw it away.

Shipping from California USA. Shipping only within continental USA.

$150 + $15 shipping

Im including a beat up Raffles 14060 case for free. Heavily beat up, bezel is stuck, and has an aged Raffles 14060 dial and gold hands (beat up). I wouldve thrown it away but just throwing it in for fun - you can keep it or throw it away.

Quilted Lining Vest - Okonkwo MFG - yes they fit.

I was curious about the cheap Okonkwo Mfg quilted vest on Aliexpress/Taobao. Yes, they zip up into Bedale and Beaufort. They fit generally good, but they zipper is 1cm shorter than barbour.

I have 42 Bedale and Beaufort. I bought size L and XL Okonkwo vests.

On my 184cm/65kg tall skinny body, the L fits more snugly. However, zipped into the Bedale/Beaufort, the L was too tight across the chest and armholes, causing my underarms to rub against the vest’s cuffs. So even though XL causes more billowing/gap/bell shape in the Bedale, i kept the XL because it was less tight across the chest/arm hole

Love to see these vintage-inspired communities growing. Hopefully it spurs more production of vintage rep parts!
Grateful to be able to pursue my obscure hobbies thanks to the wisdom of those here

I live in Gyeongsang but have been to roughly 10 Michelin Bib Gourmand restaurants around Seoul. However, i found almost all of them underwhelming.

Especially the Korean (and some Japanese) foods, while i could appreciate the freshness/simplicity, i found them almost too bland.

Beginning to wonder if my taste has become too adjusted to southern cooking, and if Seoul taste style just tends to be simpler/more plain.

Permanently leaving Korea (so will give up ARC and korean phone #). But I want to maintain my Korean bank accounts and money, in case I end up returning to Korea one day. Also currency rate is too bad so I am ok leaving my money here until it improves later on.

I am looking for banks that will let me use online banking to access my account without a Korean Phone #, but so far, I haven't found any. Even Kakao Bank and Toss customer service said they require Korean phone number in order for you to verify identity and use online banking.

Has anyone found any ways? Or for those who were in my shoes, what did you end up doing?

Starting a postdoc (biology) at MGB/HMS soon. Do labs usually provide a work computer/laptop, or am I expected to purchase my own to use for work? Thanks
