Want to hear your personal experiences about screen time.

A bit of background: I have 7, 4, and 1 years old kids. I grew up in a family that focused on education, so basically I was programmed that education is the most important thing in life. My kids get screen time almost daily ~1 hour a day and a bit longer over the weekend.

I tend to focus more on sitting with them, read, write, do math, doing homework with the older one, and teaching the younger one how read and write.

So the kids hear from their friends about roblox, minecraft, video games, there is that other thing about making your own game, and many other things. Then I feel like I’m being unfair to them because I don’t allow them any of this (or super rare) I also feel like I’m not letting them up to date with their peers specially with the advancement of AI and technology.

On the other hand, they’re both academically advanced.

Just want to hear from other dads based on your personal experiences.

How much screen time your kids allowed?
Am I too strict this way?

My concern is that this is a door that if opened it’ll be extremely hard to control.

Cheers!

Discussion: I’m pretty sure this has been discussed previously. But do you agree that the word “Engineering” has lost it’s meaning?

As the title says, after all those years in civil engineering I kinda feel heartbroken. when I talk to someone (non-engineering) and say I’m an engineer then try to explain how beautiful and interesting it is.

Then they say ohh my friend is an engineer who does software development.

Like seriously!!!

I think none of the IT/computer/software fields should be called engineering. Because they’re not.

I miss the old days when engineering carried its weight.

Do you think this can be repaired without full paint?

Moved All the Way from the East Coast and Need Advice

Since I'm working from home, I want to try and plant fruits and veggies in my back yard, thinking tomatoes and cumbers. After some reading online, I understood that in my area, Loma Linda the ground itself is clayey and is not good for direct planting and that I will need raised garden beds.

Need advice on what is the best time of the year to plant them, any recommendations on soil brand, fertilizer? if its too late to plant tomatoes and cumbers what are alternatives that I can plant in the coming two weeks and not die during the winter?

Cheers!

Phase I for 7 years old

So my daughter has her permanent tooth growing up behind her top row, she also has severe crowding and cross bite.

We went to orthodontics and he recommended phase I treatment.

Is it worth the money and would help her?

Anyone know why this started to happen suddenly on the P1S?

I cleaned the nozzle and the filament is dry.

Approved after all prongs RFE

PD: Apr 8, 2025
PP upgrade: Dec 31, 2025
RFE: Feb 10,2026
Response received: Apr 26,2026
Approved: Jun 15, 2026

Postdoctoral in civil engineering, endeavor is about infrastructure resilience and sustainability.

Lawyer: Chen immigration.

Initial filing: 2 LOR, dependent and independent. 21 citations, 9 papers all first authored.

All prongs RFE: USCIS acknowledged national importance but challenged substantial merit. Acknowledge PhD but challenged accomplishments. Prong 3 is subsequent challenge.

In the RFE response: added 9 independent letters of support from interested parties nation wide, included 5 personal letters of recommendations (3 dependents, 2 independent). Citation count increased to 100+ also added 2 more first authored publications and $150k funded project after the initial filing.

I think the initial filing wasn’t framed well enough and that the RFE response was longer than the initial filing.

Huge shout out to Chen team, despite multiple negative reviews I read about them, they’ve always been on top of things and responded within 24 hours max.

My biggest advice to anyone who is filing, responding to RFE or thinking about filing: the attorney will help you, but you know your own achievements, your endeavor, and your background better than anyone else. Invest the time and write it yourself, no one will write it better than you. Don’t lie, don’t use AI (its horse sh**), and don’t rely on anyone but yourself.

Good luck to ya’ll.
