I like to have all my filen data stored locally. Instead of mapping my cloud storage to a drive/folder in the local filesystem (which I understand is actually a files on demand kind of deal), I typically create a sync folder for my entire cloud drive. Are there any downsides to doing this? I'm thinking time to sync, performance, that kind of thing. Are there any guidelines for the amount of data that syncing realistically supports?

Any updates on this?

Rant alert. First came across these in cachy. Brilliant. Configured out of the box, able to revert almost any kind of failure, which situation using a rolling distro is not unlikely if I'm reading the room correctly.

So if I want to go with a rolling distro I'm golden, as tumbleweed also has this feature. But why are we forced to live like animals if we want a non-rolling release with this feature? Oh yes, it's possible to set up on such a release, but my word would I prefer not to. Partition and subvolume layouts anyone? Hooks? Other one-off random spells that just happen to be required? Er, no thanks. This stuff needs to be preconfigured, not left up to joe user. The only hope seems to be either trusting some random website's instructions hoping they work, or using one of the few non-rolling distros that have a dedicated fork for just this purpose (shout out to spiral / ludora).

TL;DR We need bootable snapshots to be included at the very least as an install option, if not a default, in all distros.

I think there is an issue on the desktop website, affecting the availability of filters. When trying a new search for e.g. laptops, there are many filters that can be applied. However, as soon as the query is executed and the results viewable, only a subset of filters is then accessible across the top of the screen, and no way other that I can see exists to access the others. It sometimes appears that there should be more option viewable, as the right hand side of the rightmost filter displayed looks sort of truncated, visually speaking.

The mobile search feature does not have this problem. It works by allowing one to scroll left and right through the full list of filters.

Called support and they said to try later. Helpful.

I read a lot about only investing money one is happy to leave alone for five years. Why then is the standard cash or cash-like buffer not typically quoted at five years, but more often two to four?

What are people planning their retirement using? Heard of boldin but seems may be too US focused. Projection lab?

Hello Fedorers. Have received conflicting answers thus far so thought I'd hit you guys up. Will Fedora 45 have an installer that supports creating bootable snapshots on a btrfs filesystem, in a similar fashion to the default limine setup on cachy?

I'm wanting to give Fedora a go and the lack of this feature is the only real thing holding me back. And yes, I know I could set it up myself but would really rather not.

Seen a few others with bits of css that aren't working for me in 151.0.2. I have tabs set to show vertically on the left hand side, expand sidebar on hover is enabled, but even when not hovering I still see a slim sidebar. I don't want to see any sidebar at all unless I'm hovering. Is this possible please?

Hi. Can anyone recommend a good manager for Linux which doesn't require the master password to be entered every time, where the database stays locked most of the time, and there is some kind of quick unlock mechanism? I'm aware of the 'one vault unlocks another' feature of keepassxc.

Used to love this. You only had to look at it sideways and it would run all over the plate, like an uber-ripe brie.

The latest ones I've had have been different. I had one out in the sunlight today (a hot one) for hours and only the outer bit went runny, the core remains solid, like a cheap brie.

Version 8.7.2 / 2023. I noticed today that pressing the home button often results in a blank screen (wallpaper only, no icons) for a second or two before my home screen is displayed.

Don't recall this being a thing before.
