I'll have about $20,000 when I turn 15.5 in October, and my parents said I can buy a car before I get my license, preferably before the end of the year so I can learn in it (current options are either learn in a 750hp super suv or a huge minivan loll).

My parents are gonna pay half of it and gas, up to $9,000 for their part (so a $18,000 car max). I have to pay for the other half of the car, insurance and maintenance. I want to work on my first car myself, and I already know a lot about german cars from my dad's BMW X5MC.

I really want a 2016-2018 BMW 3 Series, a 320i or 330i ideally because they're in my price range, look great, and have the b48 engine which is really good for a bimmer. They're also super moddable.

I'll make about $25-30,000 in my next 2 years of high school, so I'll be able to afford the car comfortably with a big bank account AND a stock portfolio as well.

I'll be able to park it in a garage, we have a good indie mechanic in town, and my dad can help with any problems I have.

I don't need to worry about other big expenses either (college is paid for and so is housing for at least 6 years after high school)

That being said, would this be a good first car? And if you don't think so, any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

Posted this a couple of months ago with no luck, so price is going from $1,499.00 to $999.00. Wheels are barely used, but the tires are old. You can throw the tires away but the wheels are great. Brand new these would cost about $3,000.00. Really just wanna get these out of my garage. Haven't used these since I sold my 2010 X5M in 2019.
