Anyone else?

This has been my EDC lately, and I'm happy with it. It's not as slim as carrying everything separately and spreading out gear, but man is it convenient to just grab one thing off the nightstand in the morning, throw it in my pocket, and already be more prepared than 95% of society.

What's everyone's thoughts on grab-and-go or all-in-one setups like this? Am I in the minority by enjoying my gear more after consolidating? I'm curious what the consensus is.

Help me date this

I have this Tinker Small. A few notable things:

-No hole on reamer

-No half stop on bottle opener (or any other tools)

-No has a metal logo, not just printed or stamped

-Has the crossbow and cross on the back of blade tang

-Has the 4th line of text on front of blade tang reading "rosterei"

It's probably my favorite SAK, and I'd love to know more about it.

Thanks!

Compact qwerty

Does anyone know anything about the qwerty? I've been wanting one but I've been checking the website once a day for a while and they're always sold out. Were they discontinued or something? They have not been in stock for months

Help me ID this

What model is this? I just purchased on impulse for what I assume to be a reasonable price, but I'm not sure what it is. Thanks!

Would this work for my sticks?

So I have two controllers, one is a T2 and the other is a wavebird. I've had both since I was a child and the gamecube was the current gen console, overall, I've taken pretty good care of them and they're in good shape other than the analog sticks wearing down, in both sticks on both controllers are now to a point where they point really far in whatever direction gravity pulls them and then moves my character that way.

So I know the cheap Amazon stick boxes are usually not what people recommend. But my understanding is the main issue with them are the potentiometers.

So my question is, if I ordered these aftermarket analog sticks, but reused the OEM potentiometers, would this be a viable solution to my wobble problem?

Turns out half a century of consistent use will break things down no matter how well you care for them.

Playing casually

I know there's still a huge competitive scene for this game, but me and some childhood friends still get together a few times a month to play Melee casually. Same copy since we were like 7 in 2005. Same GameCube. I even still use the same beat up old controller. The competitive scene would have a heart attack. None of us take it seriously. We play 2 minute time with default rules on random stages. We just get together with pizza and beer and have a good time. Yes we've played the newer games but we keep coming back to Melee. I'm convinced it's the best version of the game even at a very casual level of play.

Anyway, my question is how accepting is the competitive scene to new players? Like, would it be cool if I just show up to a local competition and try my hand knowing I'm destined for dead last, or is it generally considered bad form to do so without some form of preparation outside of couch multiplayer with friends ahead of time?

Make this look better without repainting.

The green kia soul who parked next to me can't drive (due to the driver being high) and scraped my mirror. How can I improve the appearance of this without repainting? I know paint is the only thing that will make it look new again but I can't afford to paint it and she was uninsured, so it's going to take months to get any kind of compensation through the legal system, if I go that route at all, which may not even be worth my time. For now I just want it to be less noticeable from a few steps back. Any advice?

How is the Solakaka e9 so bad?

TLDR: This mouse has so much potential, but in the end it is so bad.

First it would not even be detected by my PC, and it still won't wirelessly, so for now I'm just using it wired. I've reached out to their customer service multiple times and have not received a response. Their website says "free 24/7 tech support" but this isn't true. As far as I can tell, they offer no tech support whatsoever.

They advertise "fully customizable RGB." But this is a false claim. You can only pick between 9 presets, all of which are rainbow. Want to set it to match the lights on your other stuff on your desk? Too bad. Rainbow is all you get. Can't set a static color, you can't even set a static rainbow. The only options are rainbow light show effects. This is not "fully customizable RGB"

Setting macros is a nightmare. I am largely trying to use this for productivity. And I want to set one of the macro buttons to be Ctrl +C for copy, but but their software does not allow for simultaneous key presses to be part of your macro sequence. But even that took me forever to figure out because their software is so difficult to use that. Entering a macro at all of any kind is a terrible experience.

That being said, there are a few good things about this mouse I would like to highlight. The form factor is good and it is very comfortable in my hand. I also like the overall look of it (if we ignore the fact that the RGB is trash). I also like that it is unlike anything else out there, so it does get points for being unique.

In conclusion, this design has a lot of potential, but the product they are selling feels more like a half-baked prototype than something ready for retail. With this product in its current state, I would like to return it, but unfortunately, I purchased it from them directly and I cannot get a hold of their customer service in any way in order to initiate a return.

I think that if they could improve the implementation for RGB, and software for setting up macros, then this would be a solid product in the $50-60 range, but as it stands it is not worth anyone's money, especially not 60 to 70 bucks, which is what its priced at at this time.

I would rate it at 1.2 stars out of 5, with 1 being the lowest possible score.

I hope this review is helpful to anyone out there who is considering this mouse.
