Ted says he can’t quite read her expression as she dies, but thinks (hopes?) it’s relief. I think he’s definitely right, after 109 years of torture, getting killed is a blessing. And he only had a heartbeat to choose between killing himself or her and he did it without hesitating, even though he kept saying he hated her in the story he took the ultimate sacrifice for her. We know Ted is an unreliable narrator, so how do you imagine she looks/feels as he kills her?
