Whirl Islands rules (and similar)

Do folks treat each of the whirl island caves as the same route/area for Gen 2? I'd assume yes because it's all one giant cave (I think?), but was curious what the "general" rules would say about it.

I know I can do whatever I want because it's my run, etc etc, but wanted to see what community folks thought

First Nuzlocke Death

Well, my poor Wilbur (Swinub) was the victim of self-destruct at the hands of a Graveler last night. The poor fella was just a baby at lvl 24, he was going to be my dragon sweeper with ice attacks, but I guess it wasn't meant to be..

That said, Snapper (my red Gyarados) knows Ice fang, so that will have to do for now. Glenn (Gligar) is going to take Wilbur's place, and I pledge to wreak havoc on Claire before heading to Victory Road and beginning the training slog in preparation for the elite 4.

Here's my current run if anybody is interested: https://www.partydex.dev/run/yy53dxz5 (feel free to make your own!)

There's a few community runs you can check here!!!

Nuzlocke Update - HeartGold

My HeartGold run is going well, just cleared Jasmine (Heracross still the GOAT), and got my shiny gyarados from Lake of Rage. Going to get everything to ~34 before moving into the Icy Path + Pryce and, no deaths so far!! Several close calls (learned quickly not to risk heracross to any flying type..)

The link is to a site I'm developing, PartyDex - feel free to check it out and start your own run!

Team sharing made easy!

I built PartyDex (partydex.dev) as a place to actually share and compare teams instead of posting screenshots. It lets you tinker with team setups in a way that's sharing focused

How it works:

- Build your current party (any of the 35 mainline games) — moves, types, stats, catch locations all filtered to your game

- Get a permanent shareable link, no account needed

- Post it to the Community Spotlight so others can see it, give feedback, or just check out what you caught

- Tracking a Nuzlocke? There's a tracker for that too — log catches, losses, and gym progress, then share the run the same way

HG Update - Bugsy down, Heracross acquired, and a close call

Update on my first Nuzlocke (HeartGold):

Legless (Geodude) and Eagle-1 (Pidgey) swept Bugsy in Azalea town, and then we took out our rival with no issue. We somehow made it through Ilex forest without seeing a single Pokemon I could catch (dupe clause), but after learning Headbutt we backtracked a bit to whack some trees. Azalea town gave us a Spearow, but Route 33 had the beautiful Chucky (Heracross), with ADAMANT NATURE??

Spent the better part of 3 hours training Chucky from 3 to 18, I'm saving some XP on him so we can hit 19 in the gym and learn brick break without overleveling Whitney! Also, I almost got too comfortable today, a Marill on Route 35 nearly took out my Slowpoke (and my heart) with rollout... lesson learned! But I ended up catching an Abra for my route 35 catch, maybe it will help me with Morty!

My current party on PartyDex if folks are interested: check it out!!! It's a party tracker/helper site I'm developing, and I recently added a Nuzlocke feature, start your own run here: https://www.partydex.dev/nuzlocke

First Nuzlocke!

Hey all, I've heard about Nuzlocke for a little while now and finally decided to try it out! I'm playing HeartGold, here's my team here's my team so far on PartyDex! I just beat Falkner and am headed to Azalea - hoping to train up my Gastly (Smokey) on the way.

Super fun so far! Would love any tips for first-timers to help smooth out the run. So far I'm taking things slow and steady

Attempting sleep training

My partner and I are attempting to sleep train our nearly 5month old baby. It didn't go well tonight - we checked in every 10min after the crying/screaming started and made it to 6 check-ins (~1hr total of crying/etc). We had to switch the onesie halfway through because it was getting wet from getting sweaty while all worked up.

After the 6th check-in we through in the towel and fed him to sleep, and we'll try again tomorrow..

Any tips/suggestions for people that have successfully sleeptrained their baby, or is this normal for a first night?

PartyDex — Free Pokédex, Party Builder & Team Planner

Howdy folks, for showoff Saturday, I built a Pokémon party tracker and party randomizer tool because I kept flipping through Bulbapedia/Pokemondb, and I wanted a more concise way to keep track of my Pokemon during my playthroughs.

It started off as a fun project, but I'm surprised how much I use it when playing. I have the site up on my phone/PC while I play (I'm doing an Emerald playthrough at the moment) and can see what moves my Pokemon will learn in the coming levels, usable TMs, evolutions + levels, and more.

You can also share your party with others and download all site data if you need to take a flight/etc.

It's a Next.js/React project, no account system, everything is persisted to local storage with Zustand, tailwind css, and it utilizes the PokeApi for data. It's been a super fun project, if you're a Pokemon fan you should check it out!

Random Team Generator

I built a random team generator! You can toggle inclusion of legendary Pokemon, stages (all basic vs all max stage vs any stage), trade-only evolutions, and can even add by specific typing (for an all-fire team, for example).

Works for all games except Champions, Arceus, and ZA! Once you're happy, load it into the main site to customize movesets/natures/EVs and share with others! Let me know if there's other features it could/should have!

Looking for team help, about to hit Fortree city

(Link is to a team planner/tracker I'm developing)

I only have Caciturn because I caught a shiny Cancea (so it's never leaving the party!), but anything I could drop/pickup now? Was thinking of swapping out Camerupt but not sure what to replace him with, I've got coverage against everything but dragon ATM

Looking for feedback on a Pokemon reference + party tracking tool

I built a Pokémon party tracker because I kept flipping through Bulbapedia/Pokemondb, and I wanted a more concise way to keep track of my Pokemon during my playthroughs.

It started off as a fun project, but now I'm genuinely surprised how much I use it when playing. I have the site up on my phone/PC while I play (I'm doing an Emerald playthrough at the moment) and can see what moves my Pokemon will learn in the coming levels, usable TMs, evolutions + levels, type coverage, base stats, and where to find each Pokémon — all filtered to your specific game version.

You can also share your party with others and download all site data if you need to take a flight/etc.

There are more features I haven't listed for brevity, but I'd love to know if anybody else would use this. If so, what features do you like, or what features are missing?

Tool to help plan/track your party!

Hey folks! I constantly have to look up when certain Pokemon learn new moves, when they evolve, etc. I made a little tool to help myself with that, and I wanted to share with others in case people find it helpful

https://www.partydex.dev

- Build a party of up to 6 Pokémon

- Choose moves, level them up, and evolve them with one click when requirements have been met (trade/stone/item based evolution is supported)

- Box and swap Pokémon anytime

- Can view learnable moves, evolution lines, type effectiveness, base stats, nature charts, and encounter locations for your chosen version

- No accounts — switch between multiple games and share your party with others using a link

I’d love feedback and hope it helps anyone who wants a quick reference while playing Crystal

US CPI report is out and looks like May inflation hitting 4.2%.. oof

Saw an article today that shows how inflation is happening, looks like it's mostly energy with gas up 40% YoY due to Straight of Hormuz being closed. Food is close behind with tomatoes up 32%, coffee up 17.5%, etc.. how does the CPI get this level of data, and how accurate is it?
