Difficult to weigh side effects against benefits

Mirtazapine medicine has completely revolutionized my sleep and made it possible for me to eat like a normal human again. But I also feel so achy, especially in the morning, from the RLS that the mornings at work are rough. I don't know what to do, cuz I have dysautonomia and so am afraid of switching to something like Trazadone, but also before the Mirtazapine I was waking up with nighttime panic attacks. It's so hard to balance all this, does anyone have this issue?

Is there just a certain amount of physical discomfort we all deal with on a daily basis with this illness and these medications?

I'm curious how most people feel on a daily basis. I've been getting my meds right for a while (Prozac+Wellbutrin+Mirtazapine) and especially the mornings, it's just rough. I feel numb and disconnected from my body, brain fog, achy, just not quite "right". How many of you all feel like this too? Sometimes I feel so alone like everyone else must wake up feeling refreshed and amazing and energetic with no pain in their bodies based on their behavior. I'm just constantly scanning my body and it's coming up wanting.

Mirtazapine vs Trazadone

Prozac was working wonders for me but I was having issues with sleep so I got put on mirtazapine about a month ago. The RLS and daytime aching has been unreal but it's helped my ARFID immensely and my anxiety too without daytime drowsiness. Will trazadone do the same but without the RLS?

Does anyone who has had withdrawal or other issues with antidepressants find it hard to get the treatment they need?

I have OCD and I'm constantly scanning my body and it's so hard to find a treatment that works because I feel like it has to be perfect before I move on with it, because what if it's not the right medicine and I stay on too long and then it's impossible to come off and I get brain damage, etc. (this is how my brain works).

When did you know it was working for you and how?

I'm about 4 weeks out and it's helping a little with sleep and with my appetite. However the restless leg comes and goes and I feel a little blah and achy sometimes. I still can't tell if it's for me. I'm worried to stay on it too long if it doesn't work because I got burned by Effexor Withdrawal and now I'm scared of everything.

How do you navigate any gap between the research and patient experiences (genuine curiosity, not an anti-psychiatry question)?

I'd like to start by saying I'm not anti-psychiatry, it's helped me immensely. However, I'm curious about how psychiatrists and psychiatric nurses balance research with experiential info they get from patients. For example, as someone who has been on a lot of medications it's hard to find research and information on antidepressant withdrawal or the effects when you switch a medication and I've had to rely on a mix of my own experience and a psychiatrist's collected experience from patients. How do you navigate this and what resources are out there for people in this area?

Twitching and RLS really getting to me

Did anyone else have this? It's really helping with my eating disorder and some stomach and weight loss issues I have but the RLS and twitching is seeping into the daytime and making me nuts. I'm on week 2, is this normal? It keeps coming and going for me.

What is the best specialist to go to when you're having issues with your mental health intersecting with physical health issues? For example autoimmune issues causing or exacerbating mental health or neurological issues.

I have some autoimmune issues (Scleroderma and Hashimotos) and I'm having trouble with lack of blood flood causing neurological and mental health issues but I'm not sure who to go to. My psychiatrist will be like, the medications and mental health stuff alone can't cause all this and my rheumatologist will be like, some of this is mental health, but no one can look at all of it and tell me what's going on.

Anyone else get restless legs or twitching/skin crawling feeling on Mirtazapine?

I started it about 2 weeks ago. About half the time this medicine makes me feel refreshed and calm and half the time I feel like my skin is crawling, I'm twitching and have restless leg, and I can't get comfortable. Anyone else have this?

How long does it take the brain fog to go away?

I started 7.5 mg about a week ago and have a lot of brain fog. How long does this take to go away? I feel like I'm in a bubble right now and not really connected to reality most days.

What do you do about the catch 22 of OCD needing higher doses of medication but we're all freaked out by the side effects?

I have OCD and am constantly scanning my body, to not do that I would probably need 80 MG of Prozac, but I'm on 30 mg and all the side effects and making me crazy already. My doctor put me on Remeron to try to level out the activation so I can go higher on Prozac but I'm just constantly freaking out about what my body is doing, whether I'll get withdrawal, what if it stops working, where would I go next? etc. Like I have to have an exit strategy for every medication after I got burned coming off Effexor and it's exhausting.
