Not near the refrigerator?

I’m towards the end of a very infestation in my apartment kitchen (seeing 10+ daily to only a few in the past week) and I’m planning on treating my kitchen with a third (and hopefully final) round of Alpine. I’ve also used glue traps and bait.

Thing is, I did not really treat the area of my refrigerator as it is suggested on here except for spraying a little bit under the front of it and in between one side of the fridge and the wall. I never moved my refrigerator nor did I thoroughly treat the area behind and around it.

The reason for this is because I never actually saw any roaches around my fridge in the past several months of the infestation. Which always had me slightly confused because it’s only 2 ft away from my trash can and 3 ft from my sink and cabinets, all which have been the main infestation areas. And I know that the roaches typically love the fridge area. Is there a reason for why I never saw them over there but I saw them crawling from basically every other area of my kitchen? Am I doing myself a disservice by skipping the fridge area for the most part based on my visual observations?

Zoloft and appetite? Increase or decrease depending on how depression impacts your appetite?

I've been looking through this sub for people's experience with Zoloft impacting their appetite. I was recently prescribed Zoloft due to episodic depression, and one of the symptoms of my depression and overall dysregulated nervous system is low appetite. I'm typically a foodie and I've lost a lot of love and joy surrounding food, and my low appetite is impacting my day to day functions and fitness goals.

What I've noticed in my reddit research is that people's experience varies greatly. For some, Zoloft increases appetite and for others it decreased it. I've also noticed many people who mentioned the decrease in appetite being the opposite of their food cravings that increase with depression, and those whose appetite increased while on the medication struggling with eating when they're depressed and non-medicated.

I know this isn't a guaranteed rule, but would you all say that Zoloft's impact on your appetite is the opposite of how depression impacts your appetite? Like if depression decreases your appetite, Zoloft will increase, and if depression increases your appetite, Zoloft will decrease? I'd love to hear your experiences, specifically from those who can say that appetite is typically one of the bodily functions/cues that's impacted overall by their mental health.

How far into your lifting journey did you switch to low volume, high intensity? and when is the ideal time for a beginner lifter?

I only have about 6 months of lifting under my belt. Obviously the low volume/high intensity approach is really appealing to me not just due to saved time, but from all the added success that I see people experience when they go from high volume to low volume.

However, I know that a low volume routine is not necessarily ideal for a beginner when I have my noob gains to take advantage of, plus the fact that more sets in general will help me get stronger and perfect my form.

With that being said, how long were you lifting before you decided to go low volume? How many sets do you do: 1 or 2? And when would the ideal time be for me to switch to low volume lifting? at the 6 month mark? 12 months? More?

Am I doing enough sets per week to see noticeable upper body growth as a woman?

30F beginner lifter doing a body recomp (maintenance/slight surplus) and I want to have visible muscle definition in my upper body, especially my arms, shoulders, and back. I'm currently doing a 3-day full-body workout because it works the best with my schedule, but I'm wondering if I'm actually hitting each muscle group with enough sets per week to see visible growth. Currently not doing direct chest for health reasons other than bodyweight things at home.

Day A: 3 sets of lat pulldowns, 3 sets of bicep preacher curls, 3 sets of shoulder presses

Day B: 3 sets of cable rows, 3 sets of cable lateral raises, 3 sets of overhead tricep cable pullovers

Day C: 3 sets of face pulls, 3 sets of tricep cable pushdowns, 3 sets of baysian cable curls

As it stands, I have 9 sets that target the back, 9 sets for the shoulders (including the face pulls for my rear delts, 6 sets for biceps, and 6 sets for triceps. Is this enough? Should I change some of these exercises to 4 sets each? And yes, I'm going to failure

Would Somatic Therapy be beneficial for me?

Hello, I (30F) don't have a specific diagnosis besides inattentive ADHD that I got about 18 months ago. But I find myself feeling a lot of the grief I'm navigating (lost my mom a year ago and other relationship/romantic grief that I'm still experiencing) along with some typical life stress. I am someone with a variety of goals that I am excited to accomplish, but find the grief, stress, and emotions that are in my body to be hindrances to a regulated nervous system, and my dysregulated nervous system is getting in the way of my daily functions and energy.

For example, my appetite being significantly impacted by sadness and stress, which obviously impacts my energy. And waking up in the middle of the night due to high cortisol levels and stress.

And overall, I've struggled with listening to proper ques from my body and physical neglect, common with ADHDers.

Am I a good candidate for somatic therapy given all these things?

Mayor Bass publicly responds to pothole repair request…by not repairing the pothole

Are we being trolled?? Who on earth is doing PR for the Mayor and why would they ever think this video reflects effective leadership that people should be excited about in the wake of this trend with Mamdani? Instead of finding one of the thousands of other potholes to fix (or just not post at all)…they decide to show the solution that every LA driver loves…more parking signs 😆

UCLA Health Psychiatrists or other psychiatrists?

I have ADHD and in need of a new psychiatrist, as my previous (and first) one I had was through Headspace. I am a UCLA Health patient so was looking into their psychiatry services so I'd love to hear about people's experiences who have used UCLA Health Psychiatry. Or is it better to seek an independent psychiatrist? And if so, any recommendations of where to look besides my insurance's database? I have PPO so flexible in terms of providers.

Cosmetic work consultations?

Hi everyone, 30F here interested in a few cosmetic, non surgery procedures for my face. More specifically interested in Botox for frown lines and maybe in my jaw because I clench my teeth at night.

I’m also interested in the tiniest amount of filler to address some asymmetry in my lips. I also have asymmetry in other parts of my face (yes I know this is normal) but I don’t really know what type of procedures would be done to do that because my knowledge is so elementary.

With that being said, so med spas/cosmetic practitioners usually do free consultations to let you know what options you have and what they would suggest? Or do you need to go in knowing what you want and booking specific services? I got a breast augmentation a few years ago and most plastic surgeons did free consultations first, but I know that may be different since that’s an actual invasive surgery.

Would appreciate any advice! And also recs on other subs to ask this question in

How do you get over a man being happy after they did you dirty?

I (30F) I dated a man (we weren’t official) who I caught feelings for but we weren’t on the same page. He liked a lot of things about me but after a while I realized a good chunk of it was due to him using me to fill a void of his own self worth and as a distraction from his own lack of self progress. We remained on really good terms for months after ending our sexual relationship but things kinda blew up a month ago in a way that showed a huge lack of care and consideration for me. By this time I had already known for the most part that he wasn’t the man for me for a multitude of reasons, some of them being that he’s unserious about himself and his goals, lacks self esteem, is noncommittal in general, and doesn’t practice his beliefs, especially when it comes to being a “good” man. There are a lot of redeeming qualities that I really liked about him (especially bc it’s rare for me to actually like a man) but the red flags are obvious and I refuse to chase after someone who is flip floppy and at war with himself.

Despite all of this, I’m still bothered by the fact that there’s a high likelihood of him currently dating another woman (who I share a mutual friend with) and having a good time with her. On one hand, I see all the red flags in him and know that me not dating him anymore is for the best, especially since he cannot be the person I actually want in a partner. I lost a lot of respect for him earlier this month and he’s kinda a loser in my eyes now lol.

But I still feel a hint of bitterness bc I want him to suffer after doing me dirty 😂 it’s unfair that he cannot disrespect me (and other women before me I now realize) but get to just move on to the next person. But that’s the reality of life, men, and dating. I’ve already gotten semi “closure” but I need to let go of that bitterness and the slight desire for vengeance (that would not involve me). For those who have been in similar situations, what helped? I know that generally “living your life and focusing on yourself” is the solution but would love more specific tips if possible.

20 flies in kitchen out of nowhere?!

Within the last 6 hours, about 20 flies have appeared in my kitchen and I do not know where they came from.

They are regular flies, not drain flies or gnats. I live in an apartment that RARELY gets regular flies (fruit flies are common though); into perspective, I see no more than 10 flies in my apartment per year. So far about 20 of them to appear in my kitchen within the span of five hours has me seriously scared. The windows have not been open. My doors have not been open. The only way I can think that they came into my apartment was through the sink, but looking for reasons as to why this happened and ways that I can address this? I’m creeped out!

Asking because I’m current working a full time, 9-6 office job while taking Anatomy and fundamentals of chemistry and this was not a good decision lol. I wish I had taken anatomy by itself. I told myself that I’d only take one science class per semester moving forward.

However, I’m trying to stay on my timeline to apply to nursing school and it may require taking physiology and microbiology in the same semester. They would both be online, asynchronous courses with a lab one weeknight per week.

Are physiology and microbiology as intense as anatomy? Would it be too much to take them during the same semester, especially since I still work? How would you describe the intensity of physio and microbiology especially when it comes to the studying portion?
