First fiberglass session. Advice needed.

Small holes:

I cut out old seat mount holes with hole saw, added backing and filled with new hole saw cutout/wood glue. For very small holes I filled with wood glue and pounded dowels tightly in. Will cut off/sand down excess the glass/epoxy over. Acceptable?

Transom:

cut all old glass out. Sanded smooth, Added layer of epoxy to bare wood, then one layer of cloth, then brushed over with epoxy, but concerned about a several things:

  1. Slight air bubbles (see around bolt)

  2. Air under cloth at transitions and corners. Couldn’t push tight into corner.

  3. Epoxy began to harden about half way across. You can clearly see difference in texture. Is the lumpy texture ok?

  4. I left dry cloth hanging over edge. Can I simply cut that after cured.

  5. How many coats should I do and should I use cloth for every coat?

Bayonet for old SKS

My first gun, when I was 7, was an old SKS that my uncle and father bought for me. I believe it’s from Korean War.

It’s missing the bayonet, but has the mount.

Any advice on confirming the gun history and where to source an original bayonete?

Thanks.

Transom: 1966 - Cutting away all flaking/separated glass. Wood damp, but not soaked, and still solid. I think it’s from recent rain. Let it dry then re-glass? Reinforce? Gusset? Thank you!

My son wants to print this mechanical hand but it keeps failing very soon into the print.

I think it might be because the print file is designed for bambulab printers?

Or maybe our settings are off.

The print is very intricate and detailed. And looks like maybe the first layer isn’t sticking?

I tried slowing down the first layer to 25% speed.

Any ideas? Here’s a link to the file.
