Struggling with ASO dental for both myself and my wife
I will mention my wife's case first. More urgent.
My wife called All County Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery in Astoria to follow up a mass I have near my front teeth. My wife's new dentist also requested to have it examined and have a biopsy.
She asked for a consultation and the cost for the biopsy if needed. They are in network (Metrodent Select). But they tell her that the consultation and possibly the biopsy will be $100 and $500. The reason is that they are medical procedure and they can’t charge the dental insurance. When we ask them ok what about charging our medical insurance, they say that they aren’t licensed to charge medical procedures.
How can they be in network, but cost is out of pocket because they consider everything medical and not dental and also not be licensed to charge medical procedures ?

Florida's housing downturn is getting ugly. $143,000 loss on a house purchased as a new build just three years ago.
Listed today for $425,000. Purchased for $568,000 in 2023.
It gets worse.
With an estimated $470,000 mortgage, the owner is now underwater and the home is being sold as a short sale.
We were told that these type of declines wouldn't happen, yet I find a new house like this every day in Florida.
The good news is that real discounts and post-crash pricing are finally emerging in the hardest hit areas.
But be careful not to catch a falling [sharp kitchen implement - I’ll get banned, again, by Stalinist mods if I use the actual expression].

ASTORIA, Queens (WABC) -- A driver is in custody after police say he hit two children with his vehicle in Queens.
It happened around 5:30 p.m. Friday near the intersection of 21st Street and 31st Road in Astoria.
Investigators believe the victims, an 11-year-old boy and a 13-year-old girl, were riding their bicycles when they were struck.
Video from the scene showed damage to a bicycle as well as the front bumper and windshield of a sedan.
Both victims were taken to Harlem Hospital.
There was no word on the extent of their injuries, but both are expected to survive.
The driver stayed at the scene. Charges in the case are pending.

Rain water seeping into the walls and exiting ceiling in the middle of the apartment one floor below
Our house is over 100 year old. We believe water is entering somewhere around a window in the back room on the second floor. Somehow the water finds it's way and exits the ceiling in the middle of the downstairs apartment.
Maybe there are more than 1 entry points but visually we can only see water stains under the window I mentioned.
Many carpenters have worked on it over the last 2 years. How can we find the entry point? Should we remove the window sill to check inside the wall?

Options for 15mm 2nd molar teeth gap pockets
I have 2 huge gaps. I went to 2 periodontists with following solutions:
- Osseous Surgery and Guided Tissue Regen-Resorb
- LANAP
Then I called my friend Periodontist (he is very successful in his field but in another country) and says that best option is to root canal and cut the almost exposed root. That way I might keep these molars a few years. Or even remove the tooth.
I don't see how LANAP can actually help. Just reading the Wikepidia page is discouraging. And so expensive... What is the point of doing it if there is no regen??
Success rates for 2. (bone graft and flap surgery) are low in that area.
Any advice or feedback would be very appreciated.

No neighbourhood Park
I dont know if its just me or...u people too realize there should have a public park/neighbourhood park within this area. Its a big area not to have any public space to sit and relax. sometimes i get food from van/carts...i keep walking to find a place for sitting and eating. Even in Manhattan they have small public parks after couple of blocks. People need to commute all the way to athens square on the other side of the train. Even in Ditmars there is no park like space except some benches on the sidewalks. A city shouldnt be such gentrified that people's natural way of meeting and interacting are narrowed. Sometimes i feel suffocated and think the cityscape around this side of N/W train requires a makeover badly.
