hi all! hoping to read piranesi soon, and i’m going in knowing absolutely nothing as many people have said to. i am a huge mood reader, and the environment i read a book in tends to work for or against me! is piranesi a good read for anytime, or is it an atmospheric vibe that i’ll want once the weather gets chillier? i tend to read romance or lit fic in summer, thriller/horror/mystery in fall, and fantasy in winter! i don’t always stick to this but i usually fit in books when i think i’ll enjoy them most!

obviously i’m totally fine with some crossover and i’m not super rigid, but if it’s worth waiting another month to pick up piranesi i’d love to know! thanks!

hi all. i had a date planned with a guy ive been talking to and i’m really getting a good vibe with. i was supposed to go out with him yesterday but i rescheduled to friday because i had a family emergency come up and now as of thursday i am fighting off the worst sickness. it’s just a cold but i’m sniffling and coughing and my face is red and my eyes are bloodshot from the constant blowing my nose and sneezing. i’m genuinely so annoyed because i do my best not to cancel, but i really like our vibe over text and i don’t want him to see me for the first time looking sick and risking transmitting it to him.

he seems to be super understanding and offered to let me vent about the family thing when i cancelled before but i’d definitely be annoyed if someone cancelled on me twice 😭 how could i best let him know i’m still really interested i just have terrible timing?

i was diagnosed with depression when i was 16, it was a very hard couple of years but i felt like i came out on the other end and i haven’t struggled a lot since early last year. these last two weeks have hit me HARD and i keep waiting to feel better but i’m just not.

i’ve had a lot of harsh family dynamics come into play over the last two weeks which have been extremely anxiety inducing, and i know that’s a huge reason why this is happening. i just need to figure out how to get through it. i’m 21 and i am in college full time and i work full time. i really don’t have time to deal with feeling this awful. the last three weeks i’ve basically just been bed-rotting anytime i have a moment to breathe. i’ve had awful mood swings. i haven’t felt this poorly in such a long time that i feel so disoriented and overwhelmed by it. advice? tips? tricks? literally anything? thanks all

I did an overnight last night at my NF’s home with twin 1 year olds. Unfortunately one of the LO’s is struggling with a cold so much of the night was spent with me in their room rocking him back down. The one without a cold woke up nearly two hours earlier than usual. All of this to say, it was not an easy night. I am completely exhausted. I’m wondering if it’s considered inappropriate to nap while NK’s are napping? I know my boss wouldn’t care, but I still feel like it’s a bit odd since I’m on shift. I would sleep in the room connected to theirs, and I don’t sleep hard so I’m very confident that I’d wake up at any stirring on the monitor. Thoughts? Opinions?

Hi all, recently dealing with some issues with my dog. He’s been the the vet 5 times in two weeks, and I had to take him to a neurologist yesterday so I took the day off. They sedated him and I wasn’t comfortable leaving him alone after 4 hours of testing and him being drugged up. We got referred from the neurologist to the internal medicine specialist team. I feel awful, but they’re only open 8-5 and my typical hours are 8-5.

I have two families I work with, and my monday/friday family keeps getting the short end of the stick because these specialist appointments are important for me to get my dog into asap. They’re able to get me into the internal medicine team this Friday, or I could way two weeks for the Tuesday. I’d have to take this Friday off again though after taking yesterday off. I do not have a big support system, so there is nobody else I could ask to stay with my dog for the day or who I could take my dog to for the day. I’m feeling really anxious and like a horrible worker, but I also value my dog over everything. He’s been with me since I was 13, and having these dramatic health issues has taken a real toll on me. Am I overthinking? My boss was super understanding of yesterday, but taking another day feels like a lot.

yesterday morning my dog seemed a bit wobbly, which isn’t normal for him but i made a mental note to monitor. a few hours later while i’m at work, my roommate texts me concerned about him. later that night he is unable to walk on uneven surfaces, and keeps falling over. i decide to go to the er where we find out his cortisol levels were 7x what they should be, with the vet absolutely shocked. she said that he absolutely could’ve had a stroke last night if his symptoms worsened so it was good we came in. we ran essentially a full workup for $1600. he had an appointment for his vet (that i had made yesterday before symptoms worsened) this morning where they ran a few more tests to confirm cushings disease (still waiting on those results.) $1200 later and i’m now $2800 down and have what will likely be a journey ahead of us to navigate this.

how likely is it that pet insurance pill pay this out? i have pets best if that helps, the top tier plan. i would pay anything to keep him okay, but i’m also a 21 year old paying for college and bills. i am quite stressed and would just love some general advice, thoughts, anything really.
