Apparently I'm becoming 'allergic' to alcohol

I recently developed a rash on my neck that isn't getting better with antifungal cream, gold bond, A&D, etc. My bestie knows my issues with drinking and did some research for me and it turns out that it's likely my body not processing alcohol normally anymore. So basically I have to quit or look like a mutant (my eyes have also been kinda puffy and red on the skin around them.)

I don't want to quit. Drinking is my favorite thing to do. I don't like life all that much, and it's what helps keep me going until this shit is over.

Giving a card with your name on it to tables when you greet them?

I really hope that none of my coworkers/managers are on here because I feel like this would be a dead giveaway since I've never seen this happen before.

They gave us all business cards that says something like 'your server is...' and then we write our name in, and they expect us to give them to all of our tables when we first greet them.

This place is definitely not fine dining but the atmosphere is better than casual. I usually don't give my name unless people ask (most folks don't seem to care either way) and I feel like this move is so cheesy. I give great service, I'm very personable with those who want me to be, but I just know that most of those cards will end up in the trash. Obviously I'm going to do it but I feel like it's even worse than wearing a name tag (which we don't.)

Thoughts?

My advice as a lifer

Just let shit go.

Let

It

Go

Does the job pay your bills? You're already doing better than a lot. I blew up the best paying job I ever had (this was 5 years ago) because most of my coworkers sucked, the clientele sucked, my boss sucked... it made me miserable, but I couldn't handle it. I don't regret leaving because it was truly awful, but I'm currently trying to make the best of a very mediocre serving job because it's close to home and somehow I have some respect here...?

I'm just saying, don't get too invested in the job and the drama. Go to work, make your money, and go home. Let people be crazy, and leave it at work.

I wanted to lay in bed and cry today, but I had to work. It was just an okay day, but sometimes work can be a distraction from your own personal problems.

Most stressful day I've had in quite a while

I'm 40, been doing this most of my life since I was 16, and tonight was tough.

My coworker in the section we were in was hungover and didn't want to work, and originally I didn't think I'd even need her, but the patio was closed due to weather and it turns out I needed her. She didn't want the 18 top graduation with separate checks, but I need money so I figured I'd just take it.

Long story short, I forgot/was too busy to grab a manager to add gratuity to the multiple checks, most of them did not tip well, and then all of a sudden I had 4 checks from that party still open totaling about $300 after they were all gone. I was trying to hold it together because I had a few other tables but I was a bit pissed considering how much they ran me (and how little money I've been making lately) and then when I went to pour a draft beer, it burst and sprayed in my face. I may or may not have shed just a few tears in the back.

Thankfully my manager contacted them and threatened to call the police for theft (she didn't threaten until the 5th call) unless they called back within 30 minutes. One of the men in charge and 2 women came back, kinda tried to fight some of the charges a bit I guess since not all of it was theirs, but they paid it and I got 20% gratuity. The guy wanted to buy a few more drinks and specifically wanted me to wait on them, which I didn't want to at that point, but whatever. He apologized, but in my mind, how does that many people walk out on that much?!

His next round of drinks was around $40 and he left me close to $60 in tip.

I actually made alright money all said and done, but before the situation was resolved I was on the verge of being exceptionally upset because it's been a tough few weeks. Unfortunately I'd already agreed to stay late to clean, and I didn't even do as much as I should've because I was just so ready to go home.

Looking to rehome my beagle girl

I just can't stop crying and it's breaking my heart, but she deserves a better life that what I can give her. Located in Michigan.

I adopted her from the Humane Society almost a year ago and she's really such a sweet dog. Definitely a bit nervous around new people (possibly abused) but she's been getting so much better at warming up to people. She loves going to the dark park to sniff and is always trying to entice other dogs to chase her. Very playful with my other dog (mini Daschund) and super observant of everything around her.

The only reason I'm wanting to rehome her is because she needs more space. I recently moved from a 2 bedroom 2 level house to a small one bedroom. I have a large yard, but it's not fenced in and she does not like being on a leash but she absolutely requires one. The other day she wouldn't even poop because we couldn't go to the park due to the smoke, and the next day we went to the park and she pooped 5 times in 5 minutes. She needs a lot of time outside in a fenced in yard where she can fulfill her desire to sniff as much as she wants without being on a leash.

She's very quiet as well, hardly ever barks, and gives the most tiny and sweet kisses. She likes to cuddle, but also likes her own space. 71% beagle, with the rest being a mix of pitbull, boxer, and harrier, with the cutest underbite you've ever seen. She's estimated to be about 3 years old, and while she wasn't housebroken when I got her, she is now. You have to be willing to let her sleep in bed with you.

Please let me know if you're interested. I hate to lose her but I guess I wasn't really prepared for having a hound dog. My last two dogs I had for 10 & 14 years (the stupidest Jack Russell and the best chow/shepherd/lab) and never once considered rehoming them because they were happy with me, but I know this girl needs more stimulation than I can give her to be happy. She should be spending most of her day outside with a warm bed indoors at night

Looking for some EXPERIENCED & reliable servers

I'm not talking people who've worked a couple of years in a coney joint, I mean people who've been in the business for years, know their alcohols, show up on time every day, do their sidework, know what teamwork really means, have good rapport with guests and coworkers...

The job is in Grand Blanc and you'd need reliable transportation.

Sadie is the emotional support dog to my other dog

Gertrude (beagle mix) is a sensitive little gal, and she is not enjoying the fireworks. So I put Sadie in her bed to help calm her, and it seems to be helping a little bit. The Benedryl I gave Gertrude might finally be kicking in, but also, Sadie is a good emotional support system.

Everyone loves Sadie. She's just the best.
