Aimed to eat from at least 20 different plants today

My housemate said at least my mental illness is suddenly being obsessed with consuming plants.

Ive been wanting to spoil her lately and made her a fruit smoothie and shared my nondairy pizza with her. Shes been on a pizza fix.

A diet suggestion has been in the back of my mind for at least two years. The goal is to eat from at least 20 different plants in a week. I decided now im fully plant based to do it in a day.

This first image of tofu veg fried rice marks 23 plants at least. Thats not including spice or sauce and only included one plant from preprepped foods.

I have texted nearly ten people about this.

I am so full and bloated.

sentience versus consciousness (trying to understand language used) [a post removed from r/askVegan]

Heads up: I intended for this to be explored in a vegan subreddit but it was removed instantly even though I felt it was pertinent.

This might be a bit ontological and cerebral and beyond me. However, if thats your thing please stay and help me understand something.

Is there a distinction between sentience and consciousness?

I see in discussions the understanding it seems is that the argument is that animals are sentient and thus worthy of the same respect and autonomy as you would any individual.

I dont know what sentience means one hundred percent. I think of old cyberpunk/terminator/matrix media speaking of robots going sentient. Thats what I associated that word with.

Why is that the defining bar of if an individual deserves respect and autonomy? (tangent: an individual deserves much more than that at a baseline)

When it comes to animals and also plants and yes we mixed up humans. (I would even go further and say the land and bodies of water.) I saw these as all individuals deserving of respect and autonomy and termed this as a rejection of hiearchies of consciousness. I rather see things as we are all on a team on this planet and we have different roles in the ecosystem relying on each other, existing symbiotically and (my hope would be) in communion and peace amongst one another.

Is there a distinction between sentience and consciousness? am i being too pedantic? I personally feels these terms need to be explored.

Clarification: I am an animist so please bear with my woo woo think.

fun new hallucination today

Had a really rough morning and only really found my equillibrium this evening. Theres been a situation in my neighbourhood and I witnessed something upsetting this morning and not sure if it was related to the ongoing thing. As well Ive been helping family move into town and that has its own stress and shift for my normal equillibrium.

Anyhow turns out I have a repeating auditory hallucination that for the first time in like twenty years of schizophrenia can be like "Thats an hallucination!" Rather than being like hmmmmm maybe?

So this fun thing I gotta just live with is my phones text notification sound. I just like every little bit or so hear it clearly as a sound outside my head (the lines been very blurry.) I go look at my phone and theres no new text; no actual notification. Its kind of funny? like why even im just stressed out and had a rough morning and now this

Decided to just turn my phone to silent and Ill let things develop as they go.

sweet potato for sleep (repost from r/poverty)

I struggle with sleep at my baseline. Even last night I went to bed after midnight and didnt immediately fall asleep and the I woke up before five in the morning.

Sweet potato is actually what helped me finally fall asleep when its time to sleep and actually sleep the whole night. Also helped with mood regulation and irritability issues. I am pretty sure its the type of magnesium and method of delivery - magnesium supplements really dont work out for me.

I finally found what works for me and I am not abusing melatonin supplements (which is bad and barely works and cost double the price i thought)

I however have been dismayed - one month a huge freaking sack of potatos was ten bucks - now its ten bucks for like a fifth of that sack.

Plan to try to do a bulk order through a restaurant supplier (my housemate).

Any one else have that one magical item thats medicine that fluctuates in price drastically?

Also: what are creative ways you secured items you would consider medicine? (i got my one shot diversion for shoplifting luckily but now risk actual consequences if i do it again)

learning to spread the vegan gospel

I want to save people from their evil exploitave ways. I see my friend come back from the grocery store and i only see an SS officer walk in the front door.

I do little things like slowly replace my housemates creamer with soy milk - i tell people theyre fat and disgusting and evil and should go vegan - i tell people that theyre basically fascists for eating any thing that isnt strictly beans and rice. (it has to be vegan beans and rice specifically)

How do I go about coercing those around me to adopt veganism?

who here is on disability assistance?

Where I am our premier has stated: "The only way a disabled person can have dignity if they want it - is to work." (Roughly paraphrased)

From what I understand being disabled means youre disabled - you cant suddenly work cause our leader thinks disabled people should work.

Many people here on assistance have to work and push past their proper healthy limits - stressing both the physical and mental. A lot of the times further disabling a person in the day to day.

I get rougly 2/3 of what is considered the poverty line for my census metropolitan area.

The only way I consider I am privileged and can actually survive - is having support from others. Just total gratitude there.

Interesting quote from a 45 year long systematic literature analysis study

"Three main conclusions can be drawn from our research. First, our study highlighted the growing body of research on VEG. However, Anglophone countries dominate the research in this field, which may lead to a certain bias in the analysis of the phenomenon. In this regard, some scholars and practitioners have raised some criticisms, claiming that VEG is racially biased and strongly appropriated by Western thought."

Source

It seems most of the academic literature on veganism and vegetarianism is dominated by anglophone countries.

This isnt say that veganism is western - just the majority of studies being tossed about are centred in English speaking countries and there should be some caution.

I would guess however veganism as found outside the West isnt so absolutist and dogmatic and rife with moral puritanism.

Forgive me for lack of source for this: From what I undersand and seen expressed in various places insistence on a constucted moral purity aligns with white supremacy. If I come across a white vegan insisting on moral purity - it raises a lot of red flags for me.

scrolling between vegan and exvegan posts and really trying to read between the lines of it all (plus mushroom)

I would more correctly describe myself as plant based. From the impossibility of removing all animal product completely, (my meds contain lactin for one) to the almost absurd corner vegan purists seem to have themselves in and the outright dogmatic elitism.

Harsh words aside - heres a stream of conscious note app inspired by mushrooms

vegans flock to provincial parks to harvest mushrooms in mass droves with no proper practice for how they go about it or proper relationship involved in the taking of the meat substitute out of balance with the land as much as the industry they oppose somehow plants arent seen as sentient enough as conscious enough and its not that they apparently scream in some misrepresented study no its the plants that were the teachers of the proper way to be in balance and to know how to both give and take and it was the animals that were teachers of the same lesson of reciprocity and because its all been reduced down to product and methods of consumerist purity its all so how should i say this? damning theres complicity in the whole grocery store and we should really abolish the whole capitalist apparatus that reduces plant and animal down to products we can vote with our wallets for
