Two spaces after periods. (Old man screaming at the sky moment)

I would offer a poll, but I don't see that option.

Just wondering if there are any others like me who just abhor the "one space after a period rule" that all academic institutions have imposed on writers?

I have safely navigated higher ed and ignored this new rule up till now that I'm on the dissertation phase and I'm being forced into it.

I know we were the last generation that grew up having to put two spaces at the end of a sentence. Conversely, is there anyone who was actually glad that this changed in our mid-twenties?

State of the idiocracy - Imma **** all y’all!

Someone asked what the most recent idiocracy thing we’ve seen lately… I asked about demographics because I thought there probably weren’t too many young people on here…

So I thought I’d post about the younger generation. They’re just sex crazed. There’s tons of dating apps out there and they’re all basically hookup apps. It’s just full of these stupid people looking for sex. If you could see the conversations smh. They sound just like they came out of the idiocracy. I don’t know how else to explain it.

Edit: ok. I’ll take the criticism that I just sound like an old dude complaining. Fair enough.

Casual sex has been a thing, yes. The point I was trying to make was that they sound like the people in the movie. Conversations read like: Hey. Hey. I’m going to do x to you. Oh yeah. Here’s a picture of my x. … then more bad porn/sexting dialogue.

Seeing it in real life, it’s like no wonder Mike Judge wrote that opening sequence that way and made the characters talk about sex the way they do all the time. Just an observation.

Yes, I talk like a you know what lol.

Holding my tongue

My wife went to Walmart and brought home of brand crocs for all the kids because they were in clearance.

I had to hold my tongue. Because I wanted to say, hey those are the shoes from idiocracy. lol

Slow faucet

I’ve got a slow running faucet. Took the pill down head off and water comes out at normal speed.

I’m guessing there’s build up in the head, but looks like it needs a specialized tool to take it apart. Any suggestions for cleaning it? It’s less than a year old.

Delivery day

Just got a nice order in from Mintbuilder. 18 day turn around from order placed to delivery. We know it’s not the fastest but I’m happy with it. Put a little more in the gold this time because I love to buy at spot!

Delivery day

Just got in my first gold order from Mintbuilder (idk if it’s okay to mention where I got it from, if not I’ll edit). 20 franc. I’ve mostly been a silver stacker. Never had a franc before, but they were at spot. What do you all think.

Disability or work?

Hi everyone. I know disability can be hard to obtain for a lot of people with chronic pain. I’ve never tried and I think I’d have a hard time getting it.

I just was wondering how others who don’t get disability deal with getting enough to pay bills and such. I don’t want details, just wondered if you work at all, or a spouse works, or savings, etc.

Confused by doctor’s assessment of pain scale

So normally I feel like I get weird looks when I tell them I’m at like a 6/7 and I for all intents and purposes look normal to them and I wonder if they think I’m serious.

Today the pain was bad and they ask me if I’m at a 10 and I tell them a 10 would be me writhing in the floor in agony and a 9 I wouldn’t be able to even speak, so I’m around an 8 or 8/9.

Am I confused here? Do I understand their scale at all? Anyone else agree with how I assess what a 10 is or know the secret to communicating pain levels to them? Not ranting here just wondering.

Spouse issues

If you and your wife are having problems or not close with each other like you used to be, like to the point where you think you need professional counseling, do you think that disqualifies you from being a pastor?

Trigger point injections?

The doctor recommended trigger point injections. The first time I had them done I don’t know how many they did but then they got a nerve or something and made my pain go to a 9/10.

Decided to try it again (because we’ll try anything) and they did two and the pain while they were doing them was just so intense I was breathing hard and barely able to cope. I was already at an 8/9 today so I don’t know if that’s part of the problem.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Inspired

Since I love seeing the smiles through the pain, I thought I’d share one as well. Today sucks but I’m making it. Here’s one with a smile and one that’s actually where I’m at with it today. I guess we sometimes can force a smile for others even when we’re having high pain days. The thing is i know I’m not aware that I have RBF when I’m tired and/or in pain. It takes effort on my part to look happy even if mentally I think I’m content. Thanks for the inspiration to make the effort to try and look nice for others!

I feel pretty good, so I think I’m going to do something 🤣😵‍💫🥴

Felt pretty good. I helped my son put up a gate in our pasture. No prob. Still feel good. I’m going to fix this chair that needs new screws. Chair said, “No, screw you buddy!”

Why do we do these things when we feel good that we know are likely to be problematic and cause a flare up? Do we just go through life not doing any of those things? I still try to do stuff all the time when I feel good enough and if my wife sees me she tries to stop me. Sometimes she doesn’t. Sometimes I argue with her because I really want to just be able to do things again.

Today’s delivery from Mintbuilder

Well, this delivery took a week longer than the first one I got from them. This time I decided to change it and order some generic rounds and it was fun to see the different designs. The Mardi Gras round has some nice toning and the Capricorn round is interesting.

Other than the s/h time (19 days) my only complaint is that one round they sent was a 5 Peso coin which is only .900 silver. I tried calling and their inbox was full so I couldn’t leave a message. I have already emailed them and messaged them on this platform so I will update when I get a reply.

Any other fans of The Black Cauldron

My kids brought it home from the library today. They love it. One of my favorites from childhood that was never popular with the “in” crowd.

The Pain Box is real

Anyone ever feel like their nerve pain is like the pain box from Dune? Inside it feels like your flesh is being burned alive or crushed to a pulp, but outside it looks just normal?
Just pain in its purest form for no apparent reason.
Here’s a new rendition. Call it the Pain Litany.
“I must not feel pain.
Pain is the mind killer.
Pain is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my pain .
I will permit it to pass over me and through me.
And when it has gone past, I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
Where the pain has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain."

Try to go without the as needed meds and just pass out?

This has happened to me twice this week. I think I’ll be okay to go without them then i realize I’m not functional and I just go lie down and pass out for three hours. And I’ve been getting plenty of sleep. I wake up and feel worse and then take my meds.

Thing is, brain fog prevents me from always realizing how bad a state I’m in. And meds give me more brain fog. It’s like a no win situation. Choose the lesser of two evils.

Has anyone tried Ashwagandha? Supposedly helps control cortisol levels?

You all understand the toll on our bodies because of the constant pain. I went outside today in the 90+ degree weather and noticed that I was just getting furious over things that should just be mildly annoying. Looking up online and true to form, heat really does increase stress levels and cortisol production, which is honestly too much on a system already taxed.

So I wondered if anyone else here has tried this stuff and if so, what was your experience.

Guilt

Full disclaimer, I don’t have some of the just horrible conditions that many of you have. I think that actually contributes to the guilty feeling more. I know there’s things I can’t do without making my situation worse, but not doing things keeps me at around a 6, which is functional. However, I still find my brain is not where it needs to be and I either think about pain or I can divert to something that is pleasurable but doesn’t require much of me.

Then I have a bad day or two, or I try to do something/be more active and regret it, and then I need recuperation days, or I just get to the end of every day wondering what happened and how the day went by. I feel like it’s all becoming a blur. I think my wife is subconsciously mad at me because I just can’t do stuff. I don’t do anything about the projects I have to fix stuff at home.

I just feel like I’m not contributing much of anything but when I try to do things I hurt more. I can’t even really cook anymore beyond very small light duty items because the repeated actions normally cause a flare up.

How do we get over the guilty feeling of not really contributing to things and feeling like a burden on our loved ones?

Any pastors who don't have good relationships with their parents?

Hi everyone. I'm not going to go into details, but suffice to say through a number of recent and past events, our relationship with my parents is tenuous at best. We have tried for years, but now even my adult kids and one of my younger kids don't even want to be around them. My ten year old is dealing with trauma from something that happened with them a few years ago, as are my wife and myself.

I can't help but feel guilty for not wanting to be around them or have my children around them and I think how can I model respect for one's parents in a situation like this. It's not like they are atheists or anything, they profess belief but just cannot seem to understand/accept that they have hurt us a lot. When we have tried to explain some of the problems to them, they act like they are the victims.

So, I just wondered if there were any other pastors who had difficulty getting along with their parents and how they handled it.

Reviews for MintBuilder's "1 oz Silver Round – Design Our Choice"

I'm a little hesitant to purchase "random item silver rounds" not knowing the quality, mint, etc. I just wondered if anyone else on here has bought this product and what your thoughts were on the items you received. What did you get, quality, etc.?
