Bistro Sandwich Review

Hamburguesa Cubana - Beef patty, sausage, ham, bacon, mayo, lettuce, tomato, avocado, pickled jalapeΓ±os, house dressing, all on a custom toasted bun.

This was a really filling burger!!
The flavors were a great blend and with each bite I'd get hit with the salty ham, crunchy bacon, creamy avocado, some twang from the jalapeΓ±o!

The toasted bun was a nice touch and next time I'd add some grilled onions.

The inside is spacious and staff are very friendly.
There's a small tv in the corner, which seems like it's more for customers who are waiting for their TO-GO orders.
The ambiance is casual and relaxing.

Their menu is very diverse and ranges from
breakfast items like: omelets, chilaquiles, breakfast burritos & croissant sandwiches.

Lunch items such as chicken wings, salads, tacos, burritos, burgers & sandwiches (like their Philly Cheesesteak).

Dinner items include: pastas, Alfredos, lemon salmon, Parmesan chicken, and their popular 12oz Ribeye steak plate.

Overall, I like this diverse Mexican Bistro and the family that runs it are nice and I want to come to try their breakfast burritos next.

Here are the photos for the menu to this new burger spot that is open in downtown Oceanside.

NOW OPEN - KEY & CLEAVER

Key & Cleaver is Now Open in Downtown Oceanside.
It looks like Oceanside has gotten another burger spot in town, and this one is replacing what used to be the Breakwater Brewing Company.

I asked the owners how is this possible if the Regal Plaza Ocean Place in the future?
They told me that the regal theater had its lease extended another two years, and that gives them enough time to move in and introduce their brand to the community.

Key & Cleaver is a specialized burger destination that focuses on the classic style of burgers.

Their menu is quite simple and straightforward with a selection of various burgers, their chicken sandwich, a veggie burger, chicken wings and their popular rosemary salted fries.

I tried their barbecue bacon cheeseburger, and it was really good. Had a great size and great flavor.

But their crispy chicken sandwich was insane!
I love that they brine their chicken thighs overnight and fry each one to-order. This process leaves the inside juicy and the outside super crispy.

In all honesty, this sandwich outshined my burger!
Couple this sandwich with their rosemary salted fries, and it was such a superb flavor experience!

I can also appreciate that they use grass-fed, pasture-raised, grass-finished beef sourced from a local farm.

Customers can also upgrade their bread to a gluten-free option and this can be for any burger.
Actually, all of their house-made sauces are gluten-free.

Their garden burger can also be prepared in any other style from the menu and makes a great vegan option.

They haven't prepped all their beer taps yet, so there's only about half of the 30+ available.

I'm sure that they'll do well as a "healthier" destination for burger lovers and their biggest CON would be the lack of available parking nearby; but that's a Downtown problem.

Have you met Carlos yet?

Everyone remembers Oceanside's mascot "Charlie".
The fishermen told me that he had passed shortly after Covid around 2021.

When I last visited the Oceanside Pier they introduced me to Charlie's nephew, which they named "Carlos".

Carlos usually hangs at the end of the pier near the fishermen. He's known to be sneaky and smart. 😜
He'll be crafty and try to steal bait or your catch as you unhook it. πŸ˜…

You can recognize Carlos because he's missing a claw on his left foot. He doesn't have a yellow mohawk like Unc Charlie.

Keep your eyes out for him.

Would you order this?

Went out for a late night bite and San Marcos came in clutch after midnight.

Trying to not be so "carby", so my friend ordered a customized burger.
What you think?

Yay? Or Nay?

When was the last time...?

Don't forget why you pay sunshine tax, struggle with public parking, downtown traffic and expensive rent....

Get your butt to the beach for a sunset!

Paying $30 a week takes a toll sometimes.
So, if you're getting a simple haircut or fade, sometimes it's just good to be able to pay $10.

I come here to West Coast Barber College for mine.

Found this post on YouTube that explains how it appears that our city officials either misled the people or are actually showing their incompetents when they approved the Eddie Jones Ware Shipping & Distribution Project.

I figured the people deserve the clarification of the detailed information provided within the short video.

Opened since 1960, this family-owned Mexican Restaurant has been a staple in the Carlsbad community.

I like that they have outside patio seating or inside.

The interior decor is traditionally vibrant with bold colors and gives an authentic vibe.

They make a lot of their dishes in-house and I can appreciate a good housemade chips & salsa.

Their horchata is also one of the best I've had.

Their price reflects the food quality and the service has always been attentive.

If you haven't tried them, I recommend.

If you've been here before, what's your GOTO dish?
