Gotta say, I did not expect to enjoy this show as much as I did. And as this being basically my first introduction into the X-Men mythos, I'd say they did a pretty good job! Solid 8/10 overall.
I mean I know it was gonna be good, but damn! I mean I never really considered myself a hardcore fan, but as a kid there would be times I would go bananas over the franchise, whether it be the cartoons or the movies, but THIS.... I need recommendations. Whether it be comics or cartoons, I need it! Also wanna talk about it with some people. What did you guys think?
Trying to get into Marvel, mostly into animation, but I don't mind trying comics as well. Anything a bit more character-driven would be nice, with some occasional light-heartedness.
Decided to see what this was all about. Tbh, I'm pretty much using this as a stepping stone to really understand the Marvel Universe. That's right, I'm not that well-versed in the MCU. Only watched like one-and-a-half movies, and the fact that the trailer for the latest one just came out, I figured it was a sign.
If there are any other recommendations you can me in terms of fun, intense, and humourous comic book stories, and perhaps other animated stuff, I'd really appreciate it!
P.S. First time on this sub. Also, just got back from watching Marvel's Ultimate Spiderman :)
I feel out of all the current VAs (which I honestly don't mind and honestly prefer them a lot ), Kirk Thornton is the one I have some trouble getting fully used to (that is to say, I think Shadow Generations us definitely one of his better performances). I mean, he's define in other roles (especially Orbot), and I think he's a pretty chill guy, but to me it can range from being alright to "I don't think so". But that's just me.
Plus, I think he once jokingly mentioned in a Sonic Expo 2023 that even he thinks Johnny would be a good replacement.
Season 5 is turning out to be an absolute banger!
When I first watched the Pink Diamond reveal, my dumbass was genuinely confused on what was going on. I mean, when I heard that episode was where shit was going down, I was genuinely preparing myself on what it was, only to be completely lost on what happening.
I mean, hell I wasn't even aware that this was an actual theory that people predicted before, because when I was first binging the show, I was trying to stay further away from the fandom as possible!
When Rose turned into Pink Diamond, I was still on the assumption that that was still Rose, so I was suprised that she would do that! And I barely took noticed on how those shards she made were supposed to be for when got "shattered", and didn't realize that she was supposed to just get poofed. To be honest, I probably wouldn't have figured it out clearly if it wasn't for the episode after this, and Steven saying it.
Also, Amethyst's reaction to when he said it was basically me too XD
Honestly I don't really care about comparing the two shows, since I honestly get that they were trying to do something new, so on it's own, it's genuinely solid!
Give it a decent 8.5/10.

And I gotta say, I honestly digged Korra as a character, I enjoyed the journey that she went through. Now is she perfect? No. But at least I can get where she's coming from.

And of course, the whole world building, the political themes were interesting (says someone who's not even into that stuff) and the characters were pretty decent (favorites being a tie between Korra, Bolin and Varrick. And favorite villains being The Red Lotus)

But yeah, I'm willing to talk more about this show. Guess now the only to look forward is the movie (yes, I know it got leaked but I'm trying to stay strong) and The Seven Havens shows (**what do you MEAN it could potentially get leaked as well?!**)

Man, this sucks. Especially for a franchise as good as this, it *really* deserves better.
Almost done with this show, and I gotta admit, I've been genuinely having a lot of fun with it. Is it perfect? No, in fact this episode kinda also takes shots at things that the fandom kinda complained about (that scene with the villains was hilarious XD) but yeah, overall I actually enjoyed this show for what it is, and can't to see how it all comes together!

Ok, when I heard that Season 4's finale was gonna be something....

Well, on to Season 5, I guess.
Practically half of the reasons why I started this show are packed into this episode, and the fact that I'm only like 1/3 into the show is crazy! Like I am SO stoked right now! XD
While I do still love the OG for the greatest that it truly is, gotta say this show has really turned me around! Not to say I wasn't already in (thanks to the first season) but still, this shit really has its highs!
Honestly, at first, this show kinda felt like a chore to get through. But from what I heard, Season 4 is when things start to get good, so I was willing to push through. Just got back from Episode 8. Interested to see where it goes with the Flame Princess goes, we got some more daddy issues with Marceline, and it looks like *he's* coming back....
