Repair countertop - possibly granite
I just dropped a glass pot and it’s chipped the worktop and I’m gutted as it’s fairly new. What is the best way to address this? Buff? Fill and buff? Rip out the entire kitchen?

Does anyone have any tips as to how O can thread this plastic piping back into the seat cushion? I’m assuming it was showing on one side and someone just kept pulling it at some point but it’s now 95% out of the seat.
It was in a car I inherited and I don’t think it’s part of the car but I’m not sure before I toss it. Made of cheap black plastic.
I'm replacing my screen and this looks faded but I'm not sure if that's by design - should it be a consistent colour and if so what is the part/number so I can get another on order?
I was trying to figure this out during their (excellent) Jimmy Eat World support set in Cardiff. What is the bridge?
I ask as I know a lot of thought went into it, is it appreciated? Valued? Annoying? What are your thoughts as owners of these?
Where did they end up? Are they still on the chair?
ETA- credit to u/weslayin as I pinched their photo.
I had water in my boot and then back seat and carpets last year, cause was a damaged seal.
It took a while to clear out and in that time clearly some mould grew, the car is bone dry now but the musty smell remains.
It’s not in the boot or the back seat (I have removed the back seat) so must be in the carpet.
What’s the best way to get rid of the smell?
I've had this kicking around for years - I'm not entirely sure how I obtained it, I think it was left in a shared house and I've never found an owner.
I've recently left it plugged in for my son to play on in a quiet room and noticed a hum. Checking the back of the amp the transformer (I'm assuming that's what it is; shown on the right of the photo) was super hot whilst the main power switch on the front has been off.
Is this normal? If not, how can I go about diagnosing this? It's a pain to have to unplug at the mains every time it's not in use (it's on a gang connector) as this will undoubtedly be forgotten by the 12 year old who is responsible for it!
My son (12) is playing rhythm in a concert in a couple weeks and I want to make his guitar nice and squishy for this song - Live & Learn by Crush 40. I want to give him the best chance at sounding good for a flat foundational rhythm part which comprises mainly of power chords:
You can find the song on the regular streaming sites but I can't link here.
What is a straightforward way to have his tone emulate this? I have a number of pedals and this is a tone I've never achieved. I have the following:
- Marshall Guvnor
- Boss Angry driver
- Joyo extreme metal
- MXR '78 super badass distortion
- JHS compressor
I also have a Helix Stomp but I don't really want something that he doesn't know how to use properly (christ, I barely know how to use it!) or that might have a propensity to disappear in school so I'm not keen on that being used.
He's playing a Yamaha Pacifica 112 and I have no idea what amp he'll end up using as that's provided by the school. If it isn't then it'll be a Marshall DSL40 miced to a PA.
Much obliged in advance/
Just received an SE SS as a bit of an impulse buy and this is a harsh lesson on controlling impulses.
Good:
- nice action.
- love the satin neck.
- sounds nice.
- Fret board is gorgeous at this price
Bad:
- fret buzz - needs a setup, it’s unusually bad though.
- neck qc - looks like some filing blemishes, shame as the neck looks lovely otherwise.
- plastic tuning pegs - look awful, feel cheap.
- plastic truss rod cover - as above and isn’t flush.
- frets are a bit ‘grainy’ and there are a couple sharper bits on high e side
I’m not happy with it unfortunately, a Yamaha at this price is significantly better. The tuning pegs being plastic was a big surprise (and I’m guessing an oversight on my part) that really make it feel like a proper cheap instrument.
I also can’t afford a ‘proper’ SS. Ah well, nothing ventured…
I have inherited my mum‘s Fiat (2008 in pistachio Green) and having sat standing for about six months (she died about a year ago) when I took it to the MOT to start work on it I found that The odometer/drivers display was black.
The instrument cluster around the display is still fine and lights up where appropriate and the speedometer still works as expected.
I’ve looked online and in all the cases I could find the symptom was a blank display but it still lit up orange. What should my first steps of diagnosis be for this before I start spending money on replacement display?
I have a couple of these that I've dug out of storage as I'm selling many of my collected bit and bobs.
I used to work for [PIAS] so was involved with the release of this album. I'm looking to understand the rarity of this as a promo vinyl - is this any different to the standard release (aside from the sticker)?
Many years ago, I was having a conversation with a friend of mine about the origin of muse box set. He asked me if it is the kind of thing that I would like and, being the person who dutifully buys every vinyl Muse album as it comes out regardless whether it’s a re-release or not, I eagerly said absolutely yes.
I didn’t get it, I didn’t buy it, and I completely forgot about it because it was released for pre-order about three or four months before it was available so it just didn’t register for me.
Fast forward to earlier this year and I see that it’s now on eBay for somewhere between £400-1200 and I get a bit bummed out. I set up my record player this weekend and finally got some storage sorted so I went through a whole bunch of boxes that I have in the loft so that I can put my vinyl out somewhere that it will actually get used rather than hoarded (I don’t buy all this stuff to keep it in pristine condition and sell it, I buy it so that I can actually use it).
I come across a rather big box and what do I find? The bloody Origin of Muse box in an unopened shipping box. I’m so fucking stoked, this is ridiculous for a 43-year-old to be this excited about something like this but I am genuinely absolutely thrilled by finding this as I was not far off pulling the trigger on a ridiculously priced eBay purchase for this box set.
Long story short he did buy it for me! It was an extravagant gift then but he justified it as he owes me as I introduced him to muse at uni (just before absolution came out) and it was repayment for the gig ticket to the absolution tour back in 2003. In the haze of boxes that appear at our house it was clearly lost and shuffled to the loft to keep tidy and never opened!
I love the SS. However I play a massive range of stuff and have only owned bridge humbuckers in the past - will having a SS limit what I can play in a meaningful way?
Audioslave, muse, if these trees, Metallica. Would these all be compromised?
These appeared a few weeks ago - and we’ve been monitoring them. Recently one went v red and whilst I’ve booked a GP appointment I wanted to make sure our current care of ‘don’t touch it and keep it clean’ is the right approach.
They are a bit itchy and haven’t multiplied. One on his back broke when it was itched a couple weeks ago. The red one on his arm looks redder in real life than the photo and changed yesterday.
Image 1 is his back, image 2 is his arm.
I don’t have many games but for the ones I do have I always print out an insert to speed up box to table, protect the contents and accommodate expansions.
There’s a huge cottage industry of people designing ingenious inserts but I’ve been curious if any board game makers provide their own print files/designs?
Has anyone seen this?
I bought this many years ago when I had a Honda Civic (2006). I have no recollection for why I got it and what it does and I never installed it. Any ideas?
You might remember a previous post about worn bearings/cones and now I need to find a replacement. I can only find ones with 11 bearings/side, mine has 10. Can anyone advise the best replacement for this?
Is this one suitable?
or this perhaps?
Bearing in mind neither of these seem to have the little cover ring that it currently has that keeps the bearings covered.

It's also not got the rubber washers (#2 in that second link) which we have but are perished and need replacing.
