This right here is the exact reason why we all collect and see the value in doing so!

So I collect and gather and I have all my reasons and sometimes it is so many, it’s hard to truly articulate it all but then you hold a 10 cent silver dime from 1964 and it all becomes so tangible and real! 0.10 cents from 1964 is now worth +$4 dollars and you can understand why chasing value in PMs and spending you fiat currency to do so becomes a very reasonable and rational thing to do! That is my take but I would love to hear the communities perspective?

1983 1/4 Gold Chinese Panda

Do you think this is worth getting graded? Purchased from an estate sale. Still appears to be in the original mint packaging.

2026 Buffalo from US mint

Is it worth the ~$5,400 price tag in order to get the new 2026 Buffalos who’s mint will be maxed out at 15,000 and is already at ~12k minted meaning ~3k will be available for purchase for an unknown amount of time. My main question is if it’s worth purchasing now at a substantial premium over spot vs potentially waiting in the hopes I will be able to obtain this same coin at potentially substantial discount down the road?

I had an interesting thought, are there any people on Reddit purifying their own silver?

I had a thought of how feasible it might be to refine and purify my own “junk” silver. Quick Ai search made it clear it’s likely better to just use existing services and pay the fees to have it done for you. UNLESS, you have the equipment, acids, etc… and then I thought well there has to be someone on Reddit who has gone down this path?!?!? Right?

So world of internet strangers! Who has done it and more so, what stops us from connecting with that person and using their services to enrich both parties while cutting out a conglomerate of entrenched establishments cutting into our profits. If we can get more direct to the source this might be a win for all situation!

Am I crazy or could this possibly work?

900 Silver Turkish wedding mirror

Purchased this silver wedding mirror for $80. Difficult to say how much it weighs of just silver but I think I made out pretty well hopefully 🤞🏼

Took some pics of the markings. Not sure I can make out the last one. I included a few pics to hopefully help sort it out.

Input from Ai:

“Silver content & value (quick update for this piece)

• Size: ~6 inches (standard for these).

• Typical sterling/900-silver weight for this exact style and size: ~140–250 grams total (roughly 4.5–8 troy oz of actual silver content, depending on how thick the repoussé frame is).

• Current melt value (silver spot ~$76/oz): **~$310–$550+** in raw silver alone.

• Market/resale: Similar Spanish or Turkish-style 6” repoussé mirrors sell for $60–$120 (your $80 asking price is reasonable).”

What do you guys think?

Etched sterling silver art

Found these 2 Two limited-edition etchings on solid sterling silver by Jamie Wyeth (b. 1946), produced by The Franklin Mint in 1977–1978, along with their original Certificates of Authenticity for $65 each.

Per Claude:

Intrinsic silver value: Each plate weighs roughly 170–200+ grams (about 5.5–6.5+ troy oz of silver). At current spot prices (~$75–76/oz as of late May 2026), raw melt value is around $400–500+ per piece.

I find them to be truly lovely pieces and a hell of a find 😁

Olympic Coins 1988

Just recently picked these up and I am super impressed with the quality of the coin and the depth of detail. Especially with the liberty figure on the gold coin!
