Udlænding her. Jeg har en 3 år gammel bil, som jeg gerne vil sælge. Bilsælgeren (hvor jeg købte bilen fra) prøver direkte at lowballe mig. Når man tjekker Bilbasen, er næsten alle opslag fra bilforhandlere. Bruger folk Facebook til at sælge biler privat? Oplys mig gerne :)
Bit of a prologue:
I had studied my masters for 2½ years in Cph 7 years ago. Within that time frame I went to a Sprogskole. Got my PD3. Surprise, surprise couldn't speak for shit. Then I left the country :)
Fastforward...I came back 3½ years ago. Now I can speak and understand.
How did I do it? What was my 'hack'? (as Americans love to say)
There was no hack or life pro tip. Just good ol' pain and suffering :')
Even before getting the job, the hiring manager of mine straight out told me that they have quite few internationals so everything will be in Danish. If I couldn't handle that then I shouldn't accept the job offer. I said that I understood and signed the contract.
Then I was immediately cast into the fire. Meetings, presentations etc. in Danish. The first 2 years were not easy to say the least. There were moments that I almost came to tears.
But after getting roasted for 2 years I can now say that I speak (read: reasonably produce the sounds) and understand (read: decode the mumbling mess of sound waves) that thing called Danish.
So the 'secret sauce' is to first learn to write and read (PD3 level) then try to speak even when they don't relent :')
What wasn't working?
That wasn't working for me when I was studying because nobody spoke Danish to me. Int or Dane, they all spoke English. That's why people cannot learn anything. I don't know if it is unique for Danish but it is so. If you -for example- go to Germany, you will learn German in quite short amount of time as people would be speaking German to you.
I mean even my own gf switches to English quite quickly. Danes have absolutely no patience for beginners or even advanced level speakers. And it doesn't help that it is an exceptionally difficult language to speak. If you don't pronounce a word precisely as it is supposed to be, they fail to understand you. It irritates them quite quickly. Though they could quite easily have understood it from the context.
Just because I am a learner doesn't mean I am stupid. Of course people will have hard time expressing what they mean when they learn a language. Danish is my 4th language (incl. my mother tongue). To quote Sofia Vergara: "Do you know how smart I am when I speak Spanish?!" :) Despite this, they have no tolerance. Combined with the tough speaking patterns of the language, then you have people that have been living in Denmark for 10+ years and still can't speak for shit. I also have to add that the Sprogskoler are horrendous, too. The first one I went to was absolute waste of time. The second and the last one was less shittier. But still shit, too. They have to do smth about this if they want people speaking their language.
What was working?
Watching films, TV; listening to podcasts; reading books, newspapers are -i am sorry to say- but only complimentary at best. You need an environment that is forcing you to speak Danish. Also you need at least someone who can correct you, when you speak Danish. One colleague actually helped me a lot. Because he was correcting me when I used wrong words, idiom, structure etc. I learnt built quite a sizeable chunk of my vocabulary by talking to him. Humans memorize much better when hearing from an actual person instead of films, tv, radio etc.
For vocabulary, I can recommend Anki app. It is free and you can have an account that can sync between your PC and phone. But you have to build your own decks. Don't use other people's decks.
For pronunciation I can recommend this site. I still actively use it when I am not sure how the whole thing is pronounced. It is quite good.
You also need to be quite adamant against those who switches to English right away. Try to keep speaking Danish despite this. It is annoying but that is how it is.

Gulvet, hvor min vaskemaskine skal stå, hælder desværre helt vildt. Benene på højre side af maskinen er ganske enkelt ikke lange nok til, at jeg kan få den i vater. Indtil videre har jeg været nødt til at bruge nogle kiler, men det virker slet ikke særlig sikkert.
Er der andre, der har stået med samme problem? Hvad gjorde I, eller hvad kan I anbefale af løsninger?

Jeg er udlænding. For mig er det et helt vildt koncept, at jeg skal betale forud for mine forbrugsafgifter. Og så regulere det i slutningen af året/kvartalet. Hvorfor er det så udbredt i Danmark? Hvorfor skal jeg lege bank for et firma? Og hvad vigtigere er hvorfor kan jeg ikke fravælge a conto hos de fleste selskaber? Fjernvarme? A conto (og et ret heftigt beløb endda). Vand? A conto. Strøm? -you guessed it- a conto! Det eneste sted, jeg kunne ændre det, var hos elselskabet (jeg skiftede til et andet).
It baffles the mind
Hej, Jeg er ikke helt ny i Danmark (har boet her i 4 år), men uanset hvad, så får I den her: For et par måneder siden fandt jeg en flad sten i nærheden af min postkasse, hvor der stod "god dag til dig🌈🪻" med nogle fine tegninger på. I sidste uge dukkede der så endnu en sten op, hvor der står "du er sød🌞🌞", men denne gang med et navn: Karl. Jeg kender overhovedet ikke nogen, der hedder Karl på min vej. Det må være fra en af de andre gader.
Men i hvert fald... er det her noget helt normalt, som børn gør herovre? Burde jeg finde ud af, hvilket hus han bor i, og give ham noget slik? Hvad er protokollen i den her situation?
just wanted to share my experience on cover letters and confidence. i had a 6 mo period of unemployment and applied to a shit ton of jobs (1257 positions to be exact) until i got one.
they don't get read. simple as that. and even if you don't submit one that's not a loss. because i was specifically asked for one by the hiring managers before they called me for an interview (HR couldn't give two shits about cover letters, as you probably have guessed)
so if they are interested in your profile they will ask for one. otherwise it's a waste of time submitting one with each job application.
i kept track of my applications on a spreadsheet with timestamps. i can tell you that if you apply in the morning your chances are higher. most positions rack up many applications quite quickly. though with all the AI and whatever algorithms they use on ATS now, chronological order still matters.
also i don't apply anything older than a week. it's futile. its either filled out or is a ghost position by then.
if you really have time to kill and figutre out whether a position is a ghost position or not, you can search back with the wayback machine
HR is lazy and they won't change the title. so in the archives you will see the same title coming up again and again.
of course this is not a sure fire method but the best one i could come up with. works sometimes.
at the end of the first month of my unemployment i got an interview. however unemployment really changed my psychology. i was ready to do anything and say yes to all. because i didnt know how long this period of uncertainty would last.
dont do this. they can sniff out the desperation. be ready to say no to stuff. i know it hurts at the moment but it's better to walk out now then getting hung up on that interview process.
on one interview they casually asked me to meet the hiring managers boss in another country (4 hour flight), in person. i said no. still got an offer. which is now my current job.
on another interview, actually the negotiation phase. they lowballed me so much. i told them this is not what we had talked on the previous interviews and told them directly no. still got an offer (close to what i was asking)

PS: i live in europe. but i guess it's pretty much the same elsewhere in the world.
For a c-segment car, the bonnet of Mazda 3 is by far the heaviest I've ever seen within that segment. Is Mazda cutting costs by using steel sheet? i don't know. What's the deal here?
Åh nej, musene er begyndt at gnave i ledningerne under motorhjelmen på min VW Passat (under carporten) Tror I, at sådan en spray mod gnavere kunne hjælpe? Jeg tænker også at sætte nogle fælder op omkring bilerne. Er rottegift en god idé? Hvad har virket for jer mod mus?
Jeg foretrækker RundtOmBilen til motorolie og Carpardoo/kfz-teile til filtre. Leveringstiden på sidstnævnte er dog en kende sløv, men priserne er rimelige
Tak til NN for at forvandle sitet i Kalundborg til en ren muldvarpe-invaderet pløremark. Jeg arbejder ikke direkte for NN, men jeg arbejder på sitet. Det der evighedsbyggeri får os til at ligne svin i mudder. Hele pladsen sejler i mudder – og derfor er vi selvfølgelig også smurt ind i lortet, lol. Nogle gange må folk navigere rundt som små hamstere.
Og så er der de der endeløse bilkøer. Jeg gætter på, at NN ikke har fyret en eneste person fra Kalundborg-sitet, for trafikken er overhovedet ikke blevet lettere! lol, ej, det er bare en joke -- det er jo mest lastbiler og endnu flere håndværkere. Det hele er en stor håndværker-trafikprop. De må have en fest derovre.
Jeg aner kraftedeme ikke, hvornår NN nogensinde bliver færdige med det byggeri. Og nu er de også gået i gang med at indsnævre vejen helt oppe fra Mørkøv pga. motorvejsarbejdet. Det gør det bare endnu mere lort.
