Who's better at swordsmanship Asta (BC) or Will (wistoria:WS)

I seen this interesting pole or question on X which ask who is a better swordsman between Will and Asta and in my personal opinion I believe that this is such a more nuance question simply because of a lot of things that go into play when we’re discussing swordsmanship.

I believe that people tend to favor one or the other simply because they prefer one series over the other.

Some people go by what the story/narrative tell us. Such as author notes that imply that characters are at different levels of swordsmanship or swordsman mastery. A good example of this I would like to say is Ichigo. You would argue Ichigo is a great swordsman because the story dictates that he’s mastered ZenJitsu, which is basically the art of using a sword, but at the same time You wouldn’t feel like he is a great swordsman because of how you see him fight when you see a fight with a sword, and that’s where the crux of my argument comes from. An author’s job is to showcase your characters, having mastered certain skill/ skill sets or having a master their swordsmanship, and I think a lot of authors really failed to do that. they have a hard time portraying different swordsman skill. These skills are not simply just cutting or hitting things hard. A great example of this is Zorro from one piece. He is a great swordsman but when you see him fight, from my perspective, I don’t really see him use a lot of skill if anything I see him hit hard or send air lashes with his sword. I believe that more in boils down to the show not having conventional enemies.

A great example of technicality of swordsmanship skill that I love to see and that I enjoy would be from Reincarnated as a slime where you see Rimuru match up with somebody that’s is his equal in Hinata. throughout the entire fight, it is told and shown him struggling to keep up with her because simply she just a better swordsman than him but also they’re explaining to you what’s going on and why he is struggling. She’s using feints so that she can lower his guard and eventually lure him into a trap. She is actively guiding him to where she wants him to be. She’s also making him notice pattern on purpose so that she can eventually take him out with one strike. To me that’s an expression of skill as a swordsman not just simply hitting hard not simply just sending air slashes because you’re swinging your sword hard. But intentionally swing your sword with purpose, limiting useless or wasteful moves.

Prefaces

1: just because we don’t see an individual training or learning a direct swordsmanship style doesn’t mean they are not a great or better swordsman than someone else. (Seen a lot of BC fans use this argument against will)

2: we don’t need to see someone train to know they are a great swordsman, their actions/fight can prove it

3: being a master swordsman in one particular series doesn’t automatically mean your a better swordsman than someone else without a title. IE: rimuru isn’t noted to be a master swordsman and barely mastered 1 fighting style but he would beat asta, zorro and will in a sword fight.

4: you do not need to fight other swordsman or masters to show off your skill. Fighting monsters and your technique is more important, Will fighting the devander > more impressive than zorro vs mihawk imo

Unpopular opinion: I think naruto filler is good

I know this will he a very unpopular opinion, but I actually like the naruto filler and think it helps the story In the long run.

I understand people not liking the placement of filler especially in the middle of an arc and I 100% agree with that sentiment. That being said the filler arcs to me makes me happy. It gave me more naruto content to enjoy. They give us new depiction of some of our favorite characters. Let us see new techniques or even those old characters we love grow. (IE. Hinata Protecting Eight Trigrams Sixty-Four Palms). I loved the episode where we had of shino and naruto trying not to laugh cuz he was such a serious character at the time. All im saying is yes they interfere with the plot but they add to the story.

On another note, the fillerss involving sasuke to me is what im referring to. As someone who used to be mad about baruto obsession with chasing sasuke, when you read the manga team 7 has 1 mission together before the chuunin exams. To me this is not enough time to bond so deeply. The fillers gave me that feeling I needed that cemented their bond.

Rising of the shield hero S2

No show gets so much hate for their second season more than rising of the shield hero. And the show has this labeled as a season dropper, as in like the show got significantly worse and never got better because of season two and I think it’s very disingenuous coming from people that don’t like the show . But people who do this never watch season 3 or even 4. A good example of another anime similar to this is SAO(Sword art online). People will scream to the mountain tops SAO got bad 1/2 way through season 1 and the show is garbage. And those exact people didn’t watch season 2-4. Where season 4 is beautifully written and a great story.

Yes I kinda understand where some of that anger is coming from and why a lot of people don’t like season 2 because it takes a stark turn by Isekaing the original Isekai users to a different realm/different world and it’s story is so different from season 1. I do believe their disappointment from season 1 stems from how the storyboard writers did a disservice to the story by shoeing season 2 plot point where it’s place, because a lot of people don’t really understand what’s really going on in the world. So season 2 seems to come out of nowhere/ out of left field.

But the biggest reason why I think rising of the shield hero gets the hate that it gets is not because season 2 comes out of nowhere. I think its because a lot of people are upset at the fact that Naofumi as an adult doesn’t harbor hatred, the same way that they would harbor hatred. his plot point with him getting revenge is resolved fairly quickly in the show in season 1 and I think a lot of people just expected Naofumi to stay the same way that he was in season 1. Because the show was introduced to us as a revenge plot line, because he got done so dirty by the princess of the country a lot of people just assumed that he was gonna keep this angry, moody and hatred persona. When simply that’s not who he is. At the end of the day he is an adult. As an adult, he is able to forgive, move on and get better as a human being. The revenge plot was only meant to capture the audience so people can tune into the light novels or the book or the anime, and then we were gonna explore more of the world and season 2 give you a brief summary of what’s going on as in that These heroes are not the only heroes that are summoned to fight the waves but other worlds have heroes as well. A lot of people don’t know that because they simply do not keep up with the light novel.

That being said the hatred the show gets is baffling. And I wanted to know why people dislike it so much. Because again Season 2 plot line aside, season 3-4 exists. You can skip season 2. Why do u still hate it?

Boruto is done right

As a naruto fan, one thing that I can say is that Yes, I did not like the direction Boruto went in when it was first introduced. The otosuki clan and the whole space alien is not how i wanted tge sequel of naruto to go but I will say that I enjoy reading what it has become and I actually appreciate ikimoto for doing something that most shows, or most sequels won't do. That is moving on from the main character.

When I think about shows like this. I often think about dragon ball Z because it was told to us that Toriyama was trying to move on from goku and make gohan the main character but because of such pushback from the fans they decided to reinsert goku back into the main story and make him the main character again. Something that I appreciate about boruto is regardless of the criticism from the fake naruto fans, or from the outside voices of people that just simply hate the show/manga, it continues to push forward and maintain boruto as the main character. I really appreciate that because sometimes you don't want your main character to stay in the story too long, because they end up regressing their character arcs, or you end up having a lot of the same character arcs, repeated. A great example again dragon ball Z. How many times is gohan not going to take training seriously.

One thing I will honestly say I dislike about dragon ball Z is how they dumb down Goku's character as the show progressed. And what I mean by that is in super, why does goku not know what a kiss is or why doesnt he know how to meditate? And I understand this is just the studio that's dumbing down goku and hes not actually that dumb. For the sake of gag and entertainment purposes, super, in my opinion, ruined goku's character compared to boruto, which although naruto is still in the story, they gave made him more complex. For example, him not knowing how to work life balance made him more intresting. Fans can now explore and appreciate how he overcomes this problem. Not to mention boruto story arc has nothing to do with what naruto already accomplished during his time. So we are not reliving the cycle of hatred nor the ninja wars.

Pokemon SV Pokedex issues

One of the most underrated issues I never see anyone complain about SV imo is how terrible the pokedex/map problem.

What i am referring to is not how either the pokedex or map looks but how difficult it is to find specific pokemon using the pokedex and the map. I find it dam near impossible to locate the very rare encounters. I feel like no one ralks about this at all and personally it was the worst aspect of this game after the glitchyness.

This makes me so scared and skeptical for Gen 10. Because pokemon is going more towards an open world game, I hope they improve on the system. I would rather run into grass because I know for a fact that the pokemon would be in the area.

[The strongest job is apparently not a hero or a sage, but an appraiser (provisional)!]

Am I the only one that is disappointed in this series.

To me it had a nice start but as the show went on I feel like it fell off. The show is not as entertaining and the Mc is not as enjoyable.

Why is Amon mischaracterized

I always see post online arguing that legend of korra villains were more complex than ozai, which i whole heartedly agree with. The one that makes me scratch my head or the one that I disagree with is the idea that amon wanted equality. When I rewatched the show, to me amon did not care about those things. He used the equalist movement to gain a following to gain power. Through that power he would basically take control of republic city.

Or am I looking at it wrong?

Additional edit:

When i watched the show it didnt seem like he cares about equality as much.

Ik the show tells us this put his actions to me look like a regime take over. So now you have to ask is it about equality or is it about having power.

best door lock with code and key

Im looking for recommendations for a front door lock that has a code and can be opened with a key.

Im am looking for a decent budget friendly door lock. That works well and does not die often. It would be indoors as well.

Wistoria: Will pisses me off

To begin with I love the show and I love the character of will in wistoria wand and sword. The problem i have with will is a problem i have with a lot of authors when it comes ro writing some characters and MC in general. They seem to hate to write characters with a backbone or even have them develop one.

Spoiler alert for season 2:

Will finally makes it to the tower and to be chosen he needs to prove his worth which he does.

But this knock off aizen who thinks hes greater than interject and proceed to belittle him because he can not create his own magic.

What I dont like about Will and other charactrrs like him just stand up for themselves. I understand theres a hierarchy but you can fight for yourself. Respectfully cpuldve told him his opinion doesnt matter, u were not joining his cohort.

Theres is nothing wrong with your main character telling off people. They dont need to be shy and humble all the time. And it gets so frustrating.

Bleach: Bankai theory

I have always been an avid bleach fan and one of my head cannon theory that explains bankai's and their relationship to each individual user of said bankai is the following:

A bankai as stated by kubo, is a literall manifestation/true manifestation of a person's nature and or character.

The way I see it is that there are two types of bankais. There are the types that are similar to what the shikai does and expands on the shikai's ability. Then there are the ones whos are the complete opposite. Those are bankai's where the shikais ability differ quite tremendously from what the bankai's ability is.

For my example I will use 2 captains. Captain soifon and captain byakuya.

How are both of these examples a manifestation or representation of those characters?

An example of the bankai and shikai differing from one another is captain Soifon. Her shikai release is a true representation of an assassin weapon. Its function allows her to strike you twice in the same spot and if she does the opponent dies. When she uses her bankai, that weapon turns into a gigantic missile. To me soifon shikai matches the personality of an assassin/ the captain of the stealth force which she boasts about. The bankai on the other hand is the true manifestation of her real personality. The bankai is loud and flashy just like soifon. Shes very loud and love to exlaim her titles of captain. Just like her the bankai makes itself known to those around it. Other individual bankais that fall under this umbrella similar to soifon are kenpachi zoraki, kisuke, ikaku and unohana.

Another example that I have of this is byakuya. byakuya's shikai is somewhat very similar to his bankai. The only difference that he grows or gains more blades and they are quite faster. Unlike soifon his bankai represents the kind of individual he is. His true self don't differ much from his outside personality that people see. When you look at captain byakuya, he follows rules to the T. The biggest reason why he had a conflict in the social society Arc is because he was following the rules the social society put in place, which deemed that Rukia (his sister) should die. But when you look at byakuya life even further beyond that point, his life is ruled by rules, he does everything in a particular manner. Simply because it's a rule, and that's how he grew up. Which is why it 's not surprising, that his bankai represents the fact that he is imposing more rules on his very own life that has nothing to do with being a soul reaper, the way he dresses, the way he talks or even the way that he builds sculptures are all guided by rules. He's a very structured individual. Some of the other bankais that fall under this umbrella of bankai matching the Shikai are head captain yamamoto, Kinsei, Kamumora, Tozen and Rukia.

The reason why i asked that distinction between the two, is that people who fake a persona (soifon) or lie to the public (urahara & unohana) they're bankais tend to be the one which differ completely from their shikai.

Characters like byakuya, toshiro, rukia bankai are typically an expansion of their shikai. Simply because they are honest with themselves as individuals. So the bankai is not expressing a trait that is not there.

The Eminence in Shadow: What are ur thoughts?

I am curious to know if I am the only person that dont enjoy this series. I know the show is extremely popular but me personally dont enjoy it as much as others.

I believe the reason I dislike the show is due to the main character Cid Kagenou. I cant rock with him as a character. I understand hes supposed to be a psychopath but him not believing the in the evil cult even though the proof is in his face is jarring. That combined with how much destruction he just leaves behind bothers me. I understand he isn't a hero, and cant help everyone but his selfish nature rubs me the wrong way after consuming media like: naruto, one piece, bleach, my hero.

Edit 1: after reading the comments. It seems to me alot of people that enjoy the show are a young audience that like it for its flashyness and how anti isekai Cid is as a character.

Just saying othwr shows do that but do it better. Someone explained it good for me there are 2 sides in thw story. 1 said is saying hey this is a joke of a show and the 2nd side is saying hey this show is serious and there is conflict. I dont think it blends together.

Im.neithwr a vanilla anime watcher nor do I simply consume shonen, I dont see the appeal behind his character nor the story.

Korra fighting style

I have a genuine conversation to LOK and ATLA fans.

I understand the fan base are torn between which avatar is better and tbh I dont care.

My conversation is predicated on korra fighting style. I am very adamant that one of the biggest disservice done to her by the white lotus is korra fighting style while bending.

I will always argue that she is technically sound as a fighter but she is not creative at all as a bender. She was forced to fight opponents that just like her attacked her head on.

This is one of the reasons why I believe she struggles so mightily with opponents. Not only are her opponents smarter than normal and simply prepare to never fight her head on, but her bending style is predictable. When i watch her bend, she seems to simply slug the elements out at her opponent and always fight them head on. Her opponents never try to confront her head on and infact they put her in disadvabtege situations/fight dirty.

One of the reasons why aang was so effective is not only because people never fought an Airbender in years but aang was very creative with his bending and usually doesnt attack head on.

What are your thoughts?

I saw a YouTube video al be it, posted 8 months ago questioning the intelligence/intellect of our main protagonist ayanokji.

https://youtu.be/2KPNnLTZQ-0?si=m6ksXmJlcbCTxlpv

I watched high school of the elite and caught up to the light novels, up until the end of year 2. To me I truly belive he is smart and a master manipulator.

The video claims that our main protag isnt really that smart. Infact hes just surrounded by stupid (not stupid but unintelligent students)

I believe the video has some great points but it is highly disingenuous

You can argue alot of the plot points come out of nowhere but to say it doesnt make sense is not true at all. Everything is explained in the story.

To argue that these are supposed to be the elite of children when it comes to intelligence is false. Cuz the story tells you everyone excels in a particular skill set and to go beyond that those in class D have more flaws than those in class A -C.

The anime/manga also tells you kids must apply to come to this school. They arent just forced into it. So ofc kids trying to escape their homes would be applying.

Ayanokji not spending all his money isnt him being smart and his peers being dumb but a direct foreshadowing of how vague school instructions and rules are. Just like in real life you can navigate certain laws, cuz of how vague they are. The money/points test isnt about being smart but more so impulse control. Alot of kids and adults today are impulsive.

When it comes to the fighting its directly shoen to us that you must have proof someone is fighting and also hersay is not enough evidence. Kai was getting bullied where there was no cameras.

I dont want to het into all the class room exams, cuz the way he solves them do make sense and can be hard for an average viewer but its not hard once they are explained.

Only reason im making this post is due to similar videos that have existed before. As a naruto fan I remember the Naruto the biggest hypocrite and the downfall of bleach videos and how they spread so much misinformation that people believe to this day even though they were debunked.
