Disappointed sa CFA students who sent this message in the department group chat. Context, these are AA students applying for BFA. Naturally, we were nervous too before. So they were talking in the group chat about it and suddenly it became a joke about call center workers.
They are implying that if they don’t pass, see you in Alorica. You get what they're trying to say, right? We know the stigma around call centers. Before you say there’s no malice, a lot laughed, it's clear that the intention is to mock.
I took it the wrong way as someone who was supported by a call center worker. I have a friend who's a working student, and that’s their job. They hide it from people because of the stigma. I didn’t expect that even in my college, there’s that mindset.
Very disappointed that one of the students previously served on the council. On their profile, they have a lot of posts showing solidarity with workers. But mocking other jobs? Practice what you preach.
There’s nothing funny about your joke when it comes at the expense of other people working honorably. No empathy at all.
If you see this, I hope you grow and change that mindset. You’re all grown up now.
