Do we need to try and make some "Community Patrol" sheets?

Given the approach by James to Combat Patrol generally, is there enough interest from the community to make/tweak/re-jig the existing combat patrols that have been removed from the app?

There will be plenty of people who are only part way through collecting the 9th edition Combat Patrols courtesy of the Hachette magazine, and the rules for these needed a bit of massaging to work in 10th, let alone in 11th. This is especially obvious for any sets that had a change of army rule between 9th and 10th edition (Leagues of Votann anyone?)

Making them self-contained but otherwise as balanced as possible within Combat Patrol (given the difference in points cost for the main game) would be the ultimate goal. I'm definitely not equipped to do this (no idea about game design/balance) but would love it if someone else took the idea on and ran with it.

Driver issues with 7700XT.

Starting yesterday, the 7700XT on my son's PC has been effectively non-functional.

He was experiencing significant lag in browser based games, and when we tried a local game it shuddered horribly and barely loaded. I tried running 3D Mark, and it said that Steel Nomad was unsupported and couldn't run. I then checked Device Manager, which said error code 43.

I tried to open up the adrenaline suite, and it wouldn't open, saying that I had no supported hardware. I then attempted to install the AMD drivers manually, without any change.

Next step was rebooting into safe mode, running DDU Uninstaller and wiping the AMD drivers. This allowed the GPU to work again using the default drivers, and I was able to run Steel Nomad, getting 33FPS average.

The current state of the system is that it is working with the default Windows drivers, but attempting to install the AMD drivers causes issues. I would far prefer to have the up to date drivers if possible.

System:
5600X CPU
32Gb DDR4
500Gb NVME drive
2Tb Sata SSD
ROG Strix B550M Gaming mono
600W PSU

Best picks from the Armageddon box for Salamanders?

As the subject asks - out of the Armageddon box, what if anything is worth claiming for Salamanders?

I grabbed a box for my son and I to share, and a second box for his friend and friend's dad as a just-in-case, but they have a decent backlog and only want the rules. I'm happy enough to part out the minis, but I'm not opposed to adding to my own collection (or keeping doubles for kiddo's Smurfs).

So far I am thinking that I will keep the Captain & Landspeeder, and use the Ancient to build up a Company Heroes squad for Vulkan He'stan. I have the champion from the combat patrol mags, so I was thinking I could try and make the Heavy Bolter Eradicators into the Veterans.

That leaves the Librarian, Jumpy Chaplain, Vanguard Vets and Intercessors. I can see use for the Librarian, given the new detachment, but the Vets lack the hand flamers or hammer & shields that I would like to see, and I'm not super enamoured of more intercessors.

Have I missed anything that's key?

Thematic Renegade Marines list

I recently picked up the Lords of the Maelstrom battleforce, and I am trying to figure out which direction to take my force as I build it out. I'm operating along the lines of a reluctant renegade force - so not committed to worship of Chaos, but against the Imperium (maybe they'll come around in time...)

As context, I am a returning player from 2nd/3rd edition and never felt comfortable taking Epic Heroes, since it didn't make sense to me that these guys would be in every battle. I'm more open to it now, but I still have a bit of a preference for thematically coherent lists.

I am thinking that the basis of the force will be the Red Corsair Raiders and Legionaries, with Rhinos to transport because no new tanks for Chaos (yet). Does it make sense to include bikers with them for a hit-and-run aspect? I like have the Traitor Guard as my chaff, rather than cultists (for obvious reasons)

I was considering adding some Warp Talons as "hired mercenaries", probably Night Lords for a bit of flavour, and potentially with a "reskinned" Haarken Worldclaimer.

The other aspect that I like are the demon engines - not so much the flavour-of-the-month defiler, but the Forgefiend/Maulerfiend and others. Would these be viable to include as "allies" from a lore side?

Any other suggestions for units I should consider are welcome - I've not delved into a Chaos/traitor force before, so I'm still learning.

Veteran alternatives for DIY/cobbled together Company Heroes?

I am mainly a Salamanders player and I'm looking at building out a Company Heroes squad to accompany Vulkan He'stan into battle. I have the new Ancient from the Armageddon box, and the Company Champion from the Combat Patrol Magazine, but I still need a couple of Veterans and I'm not sure where to go for cheap options?

Norco Search XR flat bar equivalent?

I am looking for a "general recreation"/rail trail type bike to use for relaxed family rides. Something that I can ride without needing my clippy shoes etc.

We got my wife a second hand Search XR Flat Bar a couple of years ago, and I have been keeping an eye out for one for myself, but I haven't had any luck so far. Ideally whatever I find would maintain as much compatibility as possible with the rest of my bikes, so I am looking for the following:

  • Flat bar. This is for rides with my kids, I want to be upright and chilling, not getting aero.
  • Solid fork. I don't see the need to waste weight on a front for that isn't going to do all that much.
  • Thru axle. I am moving away from quick release, so this is preferred.
  • 1x11 drivetrain. Again, compatibility.

I am based in Australia, so options that are available here please. I'm not looking to overcapitalise on this bike, ideally keeping the cost under $1,000 AUD. If there's a killer deal on a light enough XC bike with modest front suspension I might consider it, but I'm not seeking that.

Remove Admin account from Android phone

I have been letting my son use my old/backup phone (OnePlus 8T) for a little while now while keeping my account as the primary user in case I need the phone. I'm now ready to let him have his account as the primary one on the phone, mainly to allow his FitBit to sync his activity to the phone for things like Pokemon Go and Pikmin Bloom.

Is there any way that I can just change the Admin user to his account, or do I have to do a factory reset on the phone entirely to make that happen?

Storage - Homeland without maps

I know that storage in general is a bit of a Pandora's Box situation (pardon the pun), but most of the solutions I have found so far have included the card maps. I have all 3 neoprene maps (stored in their own poster tube) and was wondering if there was a good storage solution for all of the faction/expansion content including the hirelings?

I'm helping my son with his start in the hobby, but I've never really been a space marines player (and I'm only getting back into the hobby with him after a decent absence myself).

Through a combination of the Combat Patrol Magazine, second-hand purchases and hand-me-downs we have the following available. Is there a decent list hiding in here somewhere, or a direction we should lean?

HQ:
Terminator Captain
Librarian
Captain with Relic Shield

Infantry:
20 Intercessors
10 Assault Intercessors
10 Reivers
6 Aggressors (Bolt & grenades)
5 Infernus
5 Terminators
5 Vanguard Vets w/ Jump Packs
3 Inceptors (Plasma)
3 Eradicators

Mounted:
3 Outriders

Vehicles:
2 Redemptor Dreads
Repulsor
Gladiator (all main weapon variants)
