Does anyone know the streamer who records at Santana Row

She sets up her camera and mixing board in front of Augustine Cafe (near the entrance to the parking structure), and records for hours at a time. I've seen her multiple times there, so I presume she's regularly broadcasting from that table. I haven't seen her ever take a break, so I haven't had a chance to ask who she is or where she's streaming.

The problem with the Tag Team episodes

The judges and the show lead you to believe that the person on the sidelines "needs to communicate more" to succeed. But in almost all episodes, the sideline person rattles off a series of commands of what the cook is doing wrong, and almost always sounds like micromanaging the cook.

To me, it feels like the path to success is to have the cook initiate the conversations, telling the sideline chef what's currently on the stove and how long it needs to look, what to pay attention to, and what their plan is. That way the sideline person is armed for the switch.

The cook can use the sideline chef as a passive assistant, such as for time checks or information. What doesn't work is having the sideline chef boss around the person cooking.

However, this doesn't ever happen, and it sort of feels like the show forces the micromanagement situation.

Anyone else find Season 3's color palette change to be distracting?

In Season 1 & 2, they used a muted, black low contrast color palette which dialed down the greens and likely conveyed how grim the "before" situation was, while the ending brightened the scene up to show how positive things were later

In Season 3, they really changed the colors around, with a heavy retro-inspired look. The greens, blues and yellows are more saturated.

I don't know if it's because there was a personnel change, or maybe they were doing it intentionally now that this season is focused on the heartland states?

I think from a usability standpoint, the headline should match the question

The way that the headline is phrased, at first glance it looks like a question if you need to continue the benefits

The way the checkbox is actually worded, checking the box means you don't need to continue the benefits.

https://preview.redd.it/5rpuuvpi9teh1.png?width=1144&format=png&auto=webp&s=f4191f527b39091cb321aef1eb8eff4f9afd9d78

I can read it fine but if you are reading this form as a second language or get careless, it's easy to get wrong. The headline should say "End Benefits" or something that matches the affirmative response for the checkbox choice.

I'm a little irked about Yuna at end of Ch II

Nearing the end of Chapter II and I'm a little annoyed at Yuna, for one simple line - When Shimura discovers that Ryuzo is gathering forces to flank Shimura when the army marches, Jin asks Yuna for help. But then she declines to help, by saying "This is your battle, not mine".

Like what happened with the Mamushi brothers? Wasn't that her battle, not Jin's? I mean Jin was involved to get Altan's attention, but she's telling Jin to kill them slowly, make them suffer, deliver her vengeance.

He does that for her, but then as soon as she gets clearance to leave for the mainland, she leaves Jin to take the fort on his own.

Is it typical for pre employment take home assignments to be real work?

An employer is asking me to complete a take-home assignment. I have no problem with the assignment, and the assignment is within my areas of expected job function.

They are asking for work around a specific problem the company faces, and it struck me that the crowd sourced output is useful for them even if they don't offer me a job.

I'm planning to ask for a neutral scenario, unrelated to their product, so that I can demonstrate my abilities rather than provide them with free consulting. However, I also realize that they're asking for this scenario because that's what they understand and have the most knowledge to evaluate the quality of my answers.

Do you regularly get realistic take home assignments from employers?

Was Duel of Crashing Waves modeled after Mitsukejima Island

It's not an exact match but has some of the feel. Just wasn't sure if there are other islands that are more similar. Mitsukajima island doesn't look like this anymore, it was heavily leveled in an earthquake a few years ago though.

Kind of regret finishing Yuriko Tale

If I knew what The Art of Seeing was about, I would have skipped the mission and would have been perfectly happy not playing it.

I mean it's sad on multiple levels, and then shifts to become uncomfortable and then disturbing.

>!It wasn't clear why Yuriko was acting lovingly to Jin, and then became doubly disturbing that she has dementia, thinks Jin is his dad, and reveals a series of secrets that are possibly true or delusions that he didn't ask to know. Jin's mother was dead by the timeline that Yuriko's story starts so it's not like a Arnold Swarzenegger cheating scandal, but still it shakes up Jin's understanding of what he believed. I might be projecting a bit because when my parents passed, I found a stack of letters my dad wrote to my mom when they were dating. I burned them at their grave without reading them, it's not for me to know what they say.!<

I know that being moved like this is part of why we play games. Just reflecting that sometimes I don't need to know the whole truth.

I think they may need to work out some of the bugs in the new library

First of all, I think that they should have put the children's section on the basement floor, or they should have used a concrete floor so that the running isn't audible in other areas. For a library, it's quite loud to read in many of the lower seating areas.

Second, the temps are kept at unusually low temps. Like I'm not sure what it's set at, but it's lower than I expected it to be.

Third, I think they could have designed the barrier between the parking lot a little better. As it stands, the window for the library seating faces the slope to the parking lot, and you see people edge right up to it. It just takes one mixed up pedal to have the potential for an accident

Scanning presets to computer with different resolutions? Workforce ES-580W

My use case is that I have different types of scans I need. For regular documents, I might do greyscale at 200dpi. With color documents, I might do 300dpi in color. For all text document to archive, I want to make smallest file size at 100dpi B&W with OCR on. It's a bit laborious to go to settings and change them.

It doesn't seem that the preset function on the scanner lets me create any of these. The first problem is that Scan to Computer isn't available in preset at all. Second problem is that ScanSmart, while providing an easier UI to manage settings, doesn't seem to have a "save to preset" functiona and is still less convenient than having a button that I can press on the scanner.

I have to believe my use case isn't that strange - maybe the newer scanners have better software and cover this function?

Regarding Tournament of Champions

The judges wear in ear monitors - is it ever explained what information needs to be sent to them when they're judging?

I believe that the Tournament of Champions judging is being done fairly and that the blind tasting is really blind (unlike Next Level Chef where one judge knows who cooks it and the other two pretend they don't). But having information transmitted in a blind taste test is an odd look.

One thing though, I think that the scoring system is not as vast as a 0-100 scale appears. First off, I don't think any judge would give a total less than 70, and thus they give 90-95 for the stuff they love, 80-90 for stuff they like, and 75+ for everything else.

But on top of that, I think that each scoring criteria is not entirely free form where one judge would give taste a 50 to one contestant and 25 to another. I think it's more likely they give one score as an anchor number (let's say 44 for taste) then evaluating the next dish and giving it a weighted number (+1 or -1) to the next contestant for most scenarios, (+2 or -2) for a blow out). That might not hold weight because there are scenarios where there are larger discrepencies, like +6 or more point total differences. I'm just saying in general, most matchups have 3 to 5 point differences, which seems hard to do if you were using arbitrary numbers averaged across three judges.

One thing that's always kind of bothered me about the Parts Unknown Sicily episode

Tony starts the episode by walking in the footsteps of where Michael Corleone got married in The Godfather, and then goes to talk to the locals. At that point, he makes fun of the tourists that come to this village because of how much they like The Godfather.

Isn't that the very same reason why he started the episode there? It's pretty clear that he's into movie tourism, with the way that he did the Hong Kong episode around Wong Kar Wai, or Vietnam referring to Joseph Conrad/Apocalypse Now. The show's promo shot of Tony in the Tokyo bar is the same seat Bill Murray sat in Lost in Translation.

Maybe it's not worth getting worked up over, it just felt like he could be a bit nicer to other movie fans that enjoy integrating travel with iconic scenes.

Tried Cambridge House salmon, was pretty happy with it

I'm normally going by this section for the cooked octopus, but saw this and gave it a try. Priced pretty reasonably at $14.99 a lb, like barely a markup over raw salmon.

Appreciated that it looked really beautiful when I pulled it out, due to the oils on the skin. I wasn't sure if it was going to really heat up based on the instructions of 10 min at 350. I think I might have dropped the temp a bit, it came out a hair on the dry side, so a little slower might have been better.

I don't often buy a lot of meats from this section but maybe I'll rethink that - the heat & eat did save me a lot of time

Anyone see a grocery store that sells fresh wild salmon skin?

I enjoy salmon skin and eat it regularly for Omega 3. The Omega 3 is significantly better in wild salmon compared to farmed.

For some reason, it appears that the stores which sell the salmon skin trimmings, like 99 Ranch, Marukai, H Mart and Osaka, only sell farmed salmon. Has anyone seen a local store that sells the wild skin?

If Andes hantavirus is transmitted by close prolonged contact with an ill person

Why do they need to disinfect an empty ship? If there are no people on there, and transmission requires close contact with an ill person, then the boat itself poses no danger.
