Can anyone share a story of how their body changed when they started eating healthier foods?

I know with CICO, you could theoretically eat whatever you want and lose weight, as long as you remain in a deficit.

That being said, I know eating 1,500 calories of a healthy salad is “better” health wise than eating 1,500 calories of burgers and cookies.

Does anyone have an experience where maybe they started CICO eating more unhealthy/junk food, but then eventually started eating more nutritious/healthy foods? Did you notice you lost more fat or your body comp changed? Did you feel better in general? Just looking for any positive stories lol.

What is YOUR favorite base for salads?

I made a post recently asking if salads are an acquired taste. I'm going to be trying a few new/different salads over the next few weeks.

If you had to pick the absolute BEST salad base, what would you choose and why? I think most of the salads I've tried in the past used Romaine lettuce as the base (and a few with mixed greens), and I'm excited to branch out!

Are salads an acquired taste?

I really want to incorporate salads into my diet at least once a week. The issue is, I’ve never had a salad and felt “satisfied” afterwards, like I do when eating other (unhealthy lol) meals. Like, I can’t recall ever craving a salad, or eating a salad and being like omg this is soooo good!

Are salads just an acquired taste? Did you always enjoy them and do you really feel satisfied/full after eating them?

People who get silk presses at a salon, how much are you paying?

I don’t get silk presses very often. But my stylist recently raised their prices, and a silk press is $125 now. I know the prices of things has to increase over time, but this still seems high to me. Not to mention, I spent over an hour waiting before the stylist even started my hair, because they TRIPLE booked appointments 😒. If I’m paying that much, I expect top of the line service. I’m thinking about just doing it myself from now on.

How much did you pay for your last silk press?

How often do you clean your engagement ring?

Just curious how often everyone really cleans their engagement rings, and if you have a specific method that works best for you?

I’m only like 6 episodes into season 1, but oh man. They keep mentioning boobies, and they pronounce it like bubbies. Teresa wants new bubbies. Bubbies bubbies bubbies 🤣 jeez Louise!

Feeling depressed that I have to be ALL IN or all out with my weight loss journey

I’ve (34/F/5’6”) been feeling pretty down about the fact that if I’m not super strict and counting every single thing that goes in my mouth forever, I’m going to gain weight.

Last January, I hit my max ever weight of 172 pounds. So I started counting every calorie and working out several times a week. I was able to get down to 154 lbs (my goal was 145), but it took about 6 months! It felt like I should have been losing more weight.

Then, I started having to go in office after working remote for several years. The office was 1.5 hours away, so now I had an extra 3 hours of daily commute time to deal with. Those hours used to be my workout/cooking hours. My company also did massive layoffs, so I was also working an extra 15 hours a week.

When I worked from home, I would intermittent fast. It was easy to hold off on eating until later. But now that I was waking up 2.5 hours earlier and spending so much time commuting, I would be hungry by the time I got to the office.

I got so stressed out that I completely stopped counting calories and working out. I also stopped cooking as much and relied more on takeout. The worst thing is that I stopped weighing myself, which I know is important for me to keep myself on track. I didn’t even realize how much weight I was gaining. Any extra time/energy I had went into finding a new job. Now that I’m out of that situation, I’m ready to start again. I was shocked when I got on the scale this week and saw that I weigh 178 pounds! I expected to gain weight, but not this much. Not only did I gain back all the weight I lost last year, but I’m heavier than I’ve ever been.

I’ve already started counting calories and working out again. It just depresses me that I seem stuck in this cycle of gaining and losing weight. And I NEVER reach my goal weight of 145 pounds.

How do you stay committed to your weight loss when life starts life-ing? Any tips would be appreciated.

You can only drink ONE flavor of one brand of sparkling water everyday for a year. Which flavor/brand are you picking?

I want to know your all time favorite sparkling water flavor. One that you could drink everyday and not get sick of (if you had no choice lol).

Is sparkling water an acquired taste? Seriously

I genuinely want to know if sparkling water is an acquired taste. I think it tastes terrible. I’ve tried at least 3 different brands and flavors that seemed to be liked by the most people and I just haven’t enjoyed ANY sparkling water that I’ve tried so far.

I really want to like it because it would be a better alternative to other drinks. Maybe it’s just not for me. Does it take time to get used to the taste or did you immediately love it?

The only recruiter who has ever actually helped me get a job no longer works in the recruiting industry 😭

I’ve been reached out to and worked with more recruiters than I can count over the years. To be honest, most have been a waste of time.

There is one recruiter I’ve worked with over the years who was actually super helpful and landed me consistent interviews with big companies. Now that I’m job searching, I went to reach out to her and realized she JUST recently stopped working in recruiting altogether.

Guess I’m on my own 😩🥺

Lost trust in my nail salon after this shady incident *sigh*

I found a nail tech I love. I’ve tried getting my nails done by 2-3 other techs at the same salon, but they did a terrible job. One time, a tech tried to just put gel over an old powder set I had, because they were too lazy to remove the powder. Another time, a different tech was careless with the drill they use to remove the polish and kept hitting my skin. I left the salon with two of my fingers bleeding. 😳 It seems like every quarter, almost the entire staff has turned over at this place. But I finally found a tech there who does an amazing job, and I’ve been going to her for awhile now.

Recently, I called the salon and asked to make an appointment with my tech. The person on the phone told me she actually had one opening that same day at X time.

So I show up and let the woman behind the counter know I have an appointment with so and so. She says okay, pick your color and have a seat. When I sat down, I realized my nail tech was nowhere to be found. I figured maybe she was on her way back from a break or something. An entire hour passes, and some other random tech comes up to me and says they’re ready to do my nails. I politely let them know I had an appointment with someone else, and that’s when they told me that my tech wasn’t even working that day!

Why didn’t they say that on the phone when I was scheduling the appointment or when I showed up and said who I was there for?!? I was so caught off guard. Then I had that tech and another one who came up and basically tried to bully me into letting them do my nails, saying they would do a good job and I should just get it done. Interestingly enough, another customer came in around this time (remember it’s been an hour since my appointment should have started) and said they were there for an appointment with my tech as well. Again, nobody said “she’s not here”. They told the customer to pick a color and have a seat, just like they did with me.

The whole thing just left a bad taste in my mouth. I would have preferred them to be honest about my tech not being there that day, so I could have scheduled an appointment on another day. Instead, I wasted over 30 minutes getting there and an hour waiting to find out she wasn’t there. I feel like they know she’s the best tech they have, and a lot of customers probably won’t want to come if she’s not there. So they just lie.

Is there something like Kitchener stitch for linen stitch?

I need to graft something together that was knit in linen stitch. Is there a way I can do a Kitchener type stitch but have it match my linen stitch?
