Planning a California travel, where to visit?

Planning a California travel, where to visit?

Hey all! I am Canadian who's currently working in WA, and plan to travel West Coast this fall for about 2 weeks. It will be just me traveling and I will be sleeping in my Tesla, so very flexible on where to go.

Currently high level plan is to drive down to Bay Area/SF -> Los Angeles, and then take a round turn to Las Vegas -> Death Valley -> and then come back to Yosemite in California. Then drive back home. I want to add some detail to this plan with more places to visit in California, where I need help with you folks :)

* What are some key places to visit in LA/SF area? Or anything else in my route?

* Is San Diego worth it? It was kinda toss up between there and Vegas, but I might consider it again if it's good visit. Not really a beach person...

Thanks!

LG G5 48" now available in US for $999

As some of you might know, US did not get 48" G5 tandem oled last year, which was only somewhat sensible form factor to be used as desktop monitor in G lineup. It seems like LG is now unloading the last year's model in NA at discount, via Costco.

Not abundant amount of information available online due to limited sales but knowing its spec aligns pretty close to C6 48" which is currently $200 more exensive and got shorter warranty(1y vs. 5y), I pulled the trigger. 90d return window so plenty of time to reassess.

Only got few hours in but so far so good. Windows calibrated at 1200 nits with DTM off and 1450 nits with on. HDR contents are crispy and highlights look great. My last TV as monitor detour was 42" C2 and tech has come very far since then.

Just make sure to never connect to internet I guess? Lol

Model Y killed appetite for any other cars for me...

Why will I ever want luxury car when this 50k midrange SUV is comfortable enough, crazy fast, rather inexpensive to maintain, and mostly importantly can drive itself?

Always puts smile on my face watching the stunningly rich red color on my month old Tesla

For a noob, what kind of timeline should I expect before seeing results?

I lived sedantary nerd life until recently and finally got into fitness. Been consistently putting 1 hour every other day for past month or so, but I am not seeing discernable results which is a bit of let down. I am aware it's a long game, but how long until body recomposition shows up?

A bit about me below to get some pointers in right direction:

  • 185lb, M, 30's age
  • 1 hour session every other day consists of 10 min warm up on treadmil + 30 min on dumbell bench + 20 min on equipments of interest(still learning)
  • I currently take about 0.6-7g of protein per pound, so think 120-130g -- 60g from supplements, rest from meal. Don't count calories yet, but I rarely ever ate junk foods even before fitness journey and I anticipate ballpark intake to be 2~3k range depending on whether I have to eat outside at work

I always get soapy/hazy marks when I do ONR rinseless washing

I moved into apartment and with lack of access to... pretty much anything in underground garage, I started doing rinseless washing with ONR which seems to have good reputation. I followed this youtube guide and made sure I gave good wipes throughout the steps, but all 3 tries ended in some amount of white soapy/hazy marks on the exterior. I even used distilled water as base!

What could I be doing wrong?

Things to do & places to eat for family of 4?

Parents live in Alberta. I work in US west coast. We will be gathering at Vancouver for about 5 days. Our AirBNB is at Coquitlam and we've got a vehicle to go around places. No kids in the group. Just 4 east asian adults.

I need some ideas to make it a memorable experience - thank you!

Aerwave internet?

Seems like after lease renewal, my apartment is forcing to use Aerwave's gigabit by putting the bill as the part of rent. I am currently on Astound gigabit which I started disliking lately so I don't mind trying it out, but is it any good?

Road trip from Vancouver -> Kamloops on allseason tires?

I am currently living in US but may need to travel to Vancouver - Kamloops area in November. I currently have the default all season tire(M+S rated) that came with Tesla model Y, but is it good enough for few days in Canada? I have never needed winter tires in US.

I did hear about Coquihalla's road condition and plan to avoid that area.

Ultra Red + White interior owners, any regrets after having it for a while?

About to pull trigger on my first Tesla. Leaning towards the combo in title, although QS is close second.

Ultra Red vs. Quicksilver

I have my mind set on 2026 model Y premium rwd. The color I am not sure though since both ultra red and quicksilver look awesome. I even visited the showroom to look closely in person and I left there even more perplexed lol.

Does maintenance become deal breaker for red over long term? I don't plan on PPF

What are the reasons I shouldn't buy Polestar 4? (vs Model Y)

I am in market for EV in west coast US with $50k ish budget. Had my mind set on 2026 Model Y premium, but I can't stop thinking about Polestar 4 esp with current deal... Don't feel like Tesla looks as premium on the outside. Software wise, I am not giving Elon $100 a month until level 3 FSD becomes a thing.

There's also a potential advantage/caveat that I am Canadian working on US visa, and I might be able to just bring the car back to Canada after few years where Polestar will continue to be in business for.

Need honest input from folks (no CEO shaming - I care about cars only). I am not heavy driver - just light commute and few hours road trip here and there.

What gets asked in 2026 Interview?

Got way too complacent in current role and want to explore outside for career growth. Is the interview still the standard system design + leetcode? Or is the trend finally changing with AI adoption? Would appreciate some data points from recent interviewees in tech hub.

Retention Offer?

My AMEX gold is going to be on 2nd anniversary soon and I am kinda 50/50 on whether I should keep it, since most of my spends are now with Robinhood's 3% CB card. I use fair amount of benefits but not $325 worth.

I called them up today about the fine print of cancellation and viability of retention offer to swing me towards keeping it, but they straight up said no retention offer. Is it numbers game where you have to contact different reps until you hit, or decided deterministically per account basis?

Is my routine good? (35M)

Been following the below routine for past few weeks. Feedbacks welcome! I joined the skincare journey way too late to know how/when I am supposed to see results

Morning:

  1. La Loche Posay Facial Cleanser
  2. WELLAGE 100 Toner + Ampoule
  3. The Ordinary Vitamin C serum + Azelaic 10% Acid
  4. Lotion + sunscreen

Night:

  1. La Loche Posay Facial Cleanser
  2. WELLAGE 100 Toner + Ampoule
  3. CeraVe Resurfacing Retinol
  4. Lotion

35M, east asian, relatively oily face. I don't have acne problem, although my pores are pretty large esp around nose and cheek.
