Looking for a few beta testers for Final Bell - iOS card/fighting game

I've been working on a game called Final Bell and I'm at the point where I really need some feedback from people who actually play card games.

Its not really a TCG, theres no packs or collecting or rarity stuff. Its more of a competitive card battler with a boxing/fighting theme.

Matches are pretty quick, usually arond 5-10 minutes. You can win by knocking the other player out, or by taking enough of their money. There are attacks, reactions, gear, dirty tricks, status effects etc.

I've done a bunch of testing myself but at this point I really need actual people to play it and tell me what sucks lol.

Mostly looking for feedback on stuff like:

  • are the card choices actually interesting
  • does defending/reacting feel worth doing
  • do both win conditions feel viable
  • anything that feels obviously broken or overpowered
  • anything thats just confusing

The beta is completely free and there are no IAPs. I'm not trying to sell anything here, just looking for people willing to play a few games and give me some honest feedback.

Its on iOS/iPadOS through TestFlight. It works on iPhone, but just being upfront the iPad UX is better right now.

If anybody wants to give it a shot I'd really appreciate it. Good or bad feedback is totally fine, honestly the bad feedback is probably more usefull at this point.

I posted about my goalie tracking app here a few months ago... I've added a lot since then

I posted here a few months ago about an app I was building called Five Hole. Its a simple goalie tracking app for hockey parents/coaches, basically something I could use at the rink without spending the whole game staring at my phone.

I believe this still fits within the sub's self promotion rules since I'm sharing something I've actually built and looking for feedback, but mods obviously feel free to remove it if I've misunderstood anything.

I've added quite a bit since that first post so figured I'd share an update.

The basic flow is still the same... big SAVE and GOAL buttons, tap as the game happens, and it keeps the stats/history for your goalie.

Since my last post I've added things like:

  • rebound location tracking
  • shot type tracking
  • goalie substitutions during a game
  • edit game details after the game
  • period by period stats
  • better game summaries and save %
  • season tracking/history
  • undo... which I use more than I probably should
  • data export
  • quite a few smaller UX improvements from actually using it during games

For transparency on the development side... the core of the app was developed by me. I'm an iOS developer and I've also used AI quite a bit to review my work, help improve features, find bugs, and generally act as another set of eyes.

Android is a little different. I'm not an Android developer at all, so that version is mostly AI developed with me directing it, reviewing the behavior, testing it and making the product decisions. I figure thats worth being upfront about rather than pretending otherwise.

Basic game tracking is free and I plan to keep it that way.

No account is required either. I really didnt want to build one of those apps where you have to make an account, give up a bunch of info, or start a subscription just to track a hockey game.

Its on both iOS and Android now:

iOS:

Android:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.fivehole.android

If anybody tried the earlier version I'd actually be really interested in what you think of it now. And if you've never tried it, feedback is welcome too... especially from goalie parents/coaches that would actually use something like this during a season.

I'm trying pretty hard not to just pile features into it for no reason, so even "I would never use that" is useful feedback.

TestFlight testers wanted — Final Bell, an iOS card-fighting game entering its first real multiplayer beta

I’m looking for a small group of TestFlight testers for Final Bell, an iOS card-fighting game I’ve been developing.

The game is now at the point where the core systems are built and automated testing isn’t the biggest question anymore — I need real people playing against real people.

Final Bell is a fast, roughly 5–10 minute fighting/card game with two intentional ways to win:

  • Knock your opponent out
  • Take enough of their Lunch Money to win without a KO

You draw from a shared deck and use attacks, reactions, recovery, gear, dirty tricks, and other cards to manage health, stamina, and money while trying to figure out what your opponent is doing.

Important device note

Final Bell is currently much better optimized for iPad.

It technically runs and is playable on iPhone, but the phone layout is still crowded and needs more refinement. I absolutely welcome iPhone testers too — especially if you want to give UI/layout feedback — but for the best current gameplay experience, I recommend testing on iPad if you have one available.

Where development is right now

The core gameplay loop is complete:

Launch → choose a deck → local or online play → fight → result → play again / return to menu

The current primary deck has gone through thousands of simulated games and is sitting close to the intended balance between KO wins and Lunch Money wins. Automated tests and builds are passing, so I’m intentionally moving away from simulator-driven balancing and into human testing.

The biggest thing I need tested right now is Game Center multiplayer on real devices.

You should be able to:

  • Find another player online
  • Invite a Game Center friend
  • Receive and accept an invitation
  • Play an entire synchronized match
  • See the correct final result/score
  • Invite someone again or find another opponent afterward

What I need help with

I'm especially interested in feedback on:

  1. Does multiplayer actually connect reliably between two real people?
  2. Can you understand what the cards and board are telling you without me explaining the game?
  3. Does winning by fighting vs. winning through Lunch Money feel like two legitimate strategies?
  4. Do any cards or combinations feel obviously unfair, useless, or confusing?
  5. Does a match feel too short, too long, or about right?
  6. If you're on iPhone, what feels too crowded or difficult to use?
  7. Most importantly: after one match, do you actually want to play another?

This is still a beta. I’m expecting rough edges, and finding them is the whole point.

If you're willing to test multiplayer, it would be especially helpful if you can convince a friend with another iPhone/iPad and a separate Game Center account to install it too. I’d love to validate the full invite → notification → accept → fight → play again experience outside of my development environment.

If you try it, even a few sentences of feedback here would be incredibly useful. Bug reports are great, but I’m just as interested in hearing “I didn’t understand this,” “this strategy felt broken,” “this was too crowded on my phone,” or “I got bored here.”

Thanks to anyone willing to help put Final Bell through its first real-world fights. 🥊

PUJ - ATL July 7 (3:55pm) “A hand shake, that’s different, nobody ever done that before”

We’re in the exit row, the woman was asking for verbal confirmations and pointing at each of us… the woman behind me shook her hand. I heard the flight attendant say “A hand shake, that’s different, nobody ever done that before

I can’t stop laughing.

I built a goalie stat tracking app and could use Android beta testers

Hey all — I’m looking for a few Android users to help beta test FiveHole, a goalie stat tracking app I built for parents/coaches.

Some of you may remember iGoalie from 10+ years ago. That app is actually what first brought me to Reddit, and it’s the reason for my username. FiveHole is basically the modern version of that idea — rebuilt with shot tracking, save %, goal locations, heat maps, milestones, and stat cards.

iOS is already live:

Android beta is here:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.fivehole.android

Fair warning: I’m not really an Android dev, so this version is still rough around the edges and heavily based on the iOS app. I’d love honest feedback from goalie parents/coaches before I push it further.

Thanks — appreciate anyone willing to kick the tires.

Need to find this SUPER generous man!

Last night I took my son to game 3. He was born in Colorado and is a die hard Avalanche fan. All the fans (for the most part) were super great to him but I need help finding the man in this picture. My son has Autism and was having a very difficult time processing the game for obvious reasons. This man noticed his Avalanche jersey and was trying to cheer him up throughout the game. At one point he came over and took off his official, autographed, jersey and insisted he take it. I tried to refuse but he was adamant! We thanked him many times and took this picture but I feel like I need to do more. If anyone knows him or how to contact him I would greatly appreciate it. It’s a long shot but hoping maybe him, or someone that knows him, will see this. Thanks!

I recently entered the "extra draw" for the Berlin Marathon through the Abbott World Marathon Majors portal. The drawing was scheduled for yesterday, but I haven't received an email or any notification yet.

I’m assuming this means I wasn't selected, but I’m a bit surprised not to get a formal rejection letter. For those who have gone through the Abbott portal draws before (Road to the Majors or the Six Star Journey draws):

  • Do they usually send out rejection emails, or do they only notify the winners?
  • Is there a specific place in the Runner Portal where the status updates (e.g., "Not Selected")?
  • How long does it usually take for the "successful" emails to actually land?

Would love to hear from anyone who has done this before so I can stop refreshing my inbox!
